The UI24R is an excellent piece of equipment. Clean solution. I'm using Catapult Cat-5 units to run cables using ethernet instead. This was a nice walk-through, love the bottom front panel solution.

the Cat-5 is a great solution. and yes, the bottom panel helps a lot with the cable run. I drew various sketches and finally came up with this one. the flat XLR plugs were a godsend. they were so cheap I couldn't believe they'd work, but they're simply great and I could twist them to the desire angle as well. also used the spare holes in the plate for all the plugs and the PowerCon. the case still has one free upper slot and I consider a rackmount router instead of our current external one. but I'm a bit hesitant at the moment. I'm not sure whether it wouldn't cause problems with the airflow, since that's the only opening for the case. some say it should be fine, but I'll have to research more. it also took quite a planning to run the cables and I made the measurements of all the cables and soldered them to the exact length, so there's no extra cable dangling about inside the case. Cheers to you and thank you for your comment.

@@ShahabTolouieOfficial Which XLR cables are those? I'm especially interested in the rotation feature.

Hi there. I'm located in Prague, Czech republic and bought them here, but I assume you can find them online. the model is ADJ AC-C-XM-90 90° XLR Stecker M XLR. They have both male and female connectors (XM being the male and XF the female connector). I was hesitant as first since they are dead cheap, but they all work perfectly and not even a single faulty one. Hope I could help. Cheers

That's well compact system. What we've done on our end is included the wireless monitors in the rack, except for drums just so to lessen plugging in and out

Yeah, that's what we initially had. The previous setup was an 8U rack on wheels. Very solid system but a bit bulky for day to day use. Our previous splitters had both outputs in the back, so one would go to the mixer and the other (direct-out) would go to an output patch panel. now with the current setup each channel has its direct-out right by its side and the output in the back goes to the mixer. and we removed the transmitters, so in case each of us wants to use it elsewhere, we have the possibility. I have installed my IEM in a tiny 1/2U rack together with my headset mic receiver. you can see it towards the end of the video. it also has a patch connectors and PSU in the back and a storage for the bodypacks. pretty handy when I play solo. I'll make another video on the small rack. Thanks for your comment and cheers.

Thank you for your comment. It really is! perhaps the ultimate upgrade would be a rackmount router instead of the external one we currently use. but I'm a bit hesitant since that free upper slot is the only airflow for the rack and occupying it would worry me about overheating. Thank you again and cheers

I use the Behringer Ultralink MS8000 instead of the DI boxes into our mixer, the XR18. I do that because the MS8000 offers a split into a direct link and a galvanicly isolated link. this way there is no confusion on who has to give phantom power, us or FOH. It is always us. How do you manage phantom power needs for drum overheads for example? Does phantompower go through the DI box? Is the other output galvanicly separated?
@ShahabTolouieOfficial
@ShahabTolouieOfficial 3 месяца назад
the MS8000 is great. we used to have it in our previous setup, which was an 8U rack on wheels. sent one output to the patchbay panel on the back (just XLR pass through) and another one to the UI24. The problem with that system was that we could only take advantage of 16 outputs, otherwise had to go for a 10U rack. This setup despite being much smaller, but we have all the channels available. and you're absolutely right. having a direct-out for each input is a big advantage, but the biggest downside is the phantom power which can't pass through the DI. so our drummer has bought two "Millenium Pocket Phantom" to feed four condenser mics. (though he uses three. two OH and the BD. the rest are dynamic). That's perhaps the only downside of the system. other than that it's been a solid and easy system to use. We are a trio and this gives us plenty of spare channels. oh, by the way, in the last few gigs our drummer also brought a pair of Shure PG81's for the OH. they are condenser but battery powered and they sound great. He said he'll be trying some Shure and AKG dynamic kick drum mic's in the near future. so, if he gets convinced by the sound, then perhaps we can discard the two boxes all together. Thank you for your comment and cheer you.

Awesome rig! Do you keep the UI24 switch on and just switch the power supplier to turn it on? Thanks for the video!
@ShahabTolouieOfficial
@ShahabTolouieOfficial 3 месяца назад
Yes indeed. this power supply has eight plugs in the back and eight on the front, with separate on/off switches on the front panel. the UI24 is plugged in to the PSU inside the case and I just switch it on, which also powers the DI-boxes on. Thank you for your comment and cheers.

Nice rig! Could you provide the reference of the flat XLR connectors? I was about to go with Neutrik NC3, but yours seem even smaller.
@ShahabTolouieOfficial
@ShahabTolouieOfficial 3 месяца назад
Hi there. I was going for the Neutriks too, but out of a sudden I came across these connectors on a Czech music website (I'm based in the Czech Republic). they were so incredibly cheap that I thought they would never going to work. but they did work great and not even one single faulty one amongst them. you can unscrew the top plate and twist the connector to your desire. it is sort of gear and when sits in, it won't move after the plate is screwed back in place. very useful and low profile. I don't know how available they are depending on where you are. Hope I could help. Cheers

to perfection 😂👍 but jokes aside yes. It's not for beauty. I'm a guitarist and the nails are my tools. something like a plectrum for an electric guitarist. Actually I'm planning to make a video on that since I often get questions about the nails on my various videos. thank you for the comment and cheers.

it in fact is quite awkward, cause for the guitar you need to keep your right hand nails longer, but the left hand nails need to be short. so what you see is just the right hand
