Omni-man truly didnt want Mark to get his powers, because that would've meant he could've waited until they grew old and died before taking over, and maybe even have another family. The reality was, he never wanted this day to come.

Omniman wasn’t trying to reason with Mark, he was trying to convince himself that his mission was still a priority and that HIS connections to earth and humanity didn’t matter.

It was Debbie's short lifespan that made her feel more like a "pet" to Nolan. He spent 20 years on Earth = feeling like 7.3 days to a Viltrumite. The boring math work explanation is shown at the end of the post. *Omni-Man was telling the truth when he said his life on Earth felt like a speck of time for him.* Viltrumites live for an EXTREMELY long time. I could be remembering this wrong, but I think a clue dropped at one point when Omni-Man said "he remembered something from yesterday" and Debbie corrected him saying "that happened years ago". I believe episode 1 Omni-Man was hoping that both Debbie and Mark would die of old age and never find out his true mission on Earth. Once Mark got his powers, Nolan knew it meant he couldn't wait for Mark to "age out". Therefore, Nolan had to stop his little "vacation" and get back to work conquering Earth. "Think, Mark! " - I think Omni-Man was trying to convince himself. He was never really trying to kill Mark. He was doing the Viltrumite version of "Daddy Spank!". *Viltrumite Age Math:* To give a perspective of time for Omni-Man: When Omni-Man crushed Red Rush's head, it lasted less than a second but felt like hours to Red Rush. Omni-Man has the opposite problem. According to Comic Vine, no Viltrumite is ever stated to pass the mark of 100,000 years old. To make calculations simple, let's equate 80,000 years Viltrumite life span and 80 years Human life span. Applying the ratio of a Vitrumite living to 80,000 years and a human living to 80 years. 80,000 yrs / 80 yrs = a factor of 1,000 Same factor ratio by human standards - 80 years / 1,000 = 0.08 year Since 1 year = 365 days 0.08 x 365 days = 29.2 days So 80 years to a Viltrumite feels approximately like 29.2 days to a human. Debbie was already an adult when Nolan met her. He spent 20 years on Earth = feeling like 7.3 days to a Viltrumite. The rest of Debbie's life would be approximately 40 years which feels like 14.6 more days for Nolan. It was Debbie's short lifespan that made her feel more like a "pet" to Nolan.

What's wild to me is that whole train thing wasnt even to hurt Mark. He knew it wouldnt hurt him, it was only to drive in the point of how insignificant humans are to them.

35:33 Mark didn't had his powers until he was 17. He will age much slower now. But another reason why Nolan is much stronger than him is because dude is like a few thousnd years old and viltrumites only get stronger as they grow older.

This becomes more evident on s2 but you can piece it together yourself comparing to his other feats of strenght. That fight wasn't Invicible vs OnniMan but OmniMan vs himself, he is trying to convince himself the whole time of what he's saying and trying to save the only family outside his home planet that will live with his life span.

I’m always a little surprised by how people think Omni-Man as a psychopath or sociopath who cares about no one. Even before the baseball scene you saw he cared about Mark. He was worried about the implications of Mark getting his powers. He practiced telling Mark because he wanted it to go well. Obviously he handled it in a brutal and inhumane way but how do people expect an individual who comes from a civilization that agreed to kill half of their own to reason. Viltrumites reason through force. Not empathy. They seem to have no empathy for their own so it’s weird that people expect him to have empathy for humans. A race of people that look like Viltrumites but have nothing else in common with them. Nolan has been conditioned to believe Viltrum is superior and his sole purpose is to further the empire. Obviously I’m not saying that he was right or just. But his definition of right and just is completely different from ours. Which makes Debbie’s and Mark’s impact on him even more impressive. He betrayed everything he was taught and knew by leaving Earth. Great reaction, I’m not shitting on you. Just an observation I wanted to share. No Spoilers please i don’t read the comic.

I absolutely LOATHE Amber. She gave Mark grief for "Ditching her" when those cyborg dudes showed up, even thought she knew full well that he was Invincible and he's the one who ultimately protected her from them. If she didn't know, we can cut her some slack. But she did know. She knew that he was the one saving people and she still acted like a spoiled child. Worst superhero girlfriend ever.

One of the most impactful scenes and this man is sitting here making breathing noises 🙃

The fight is also Nolan trying to convince himself that he’s a good Viltrumite, that he’s doing the right thing, as he tries to convince Mark. He’s never trying to kill Mark, except maybe near the end for a minute, but he’s trying to force him to see humans as goldfish.

Oh, wait till we get to Conquest and Grand Admiral Freddy Mercury.

A few things to say: 1. Amber was actually pretty well received for how well written she was. It wasn’t until Episode 7 that people started to hate her. This was luckily not the case in Season 2. 2. cats are lactose intolerant. Giving a kitten milk is the equivalent of giving a dog chocolate. 3. Omni-man is one of the Nicest Viltrumites. Only a select few actually hold compassion.

"Super fucked up, but also kinda dope" is exactly how I would describe shows like Invincible and The Boys and why I love them so much

The "I still have you dad" line is so heavy

The thing is that it wasn't just Amber that was annoying. The show's writers had everyone on the show simultaneously tell us that Mark was wrong. His friend tells him he was horrible. Atom Eve tells him he was horrible. Yet nothing I saw in the show shows him being horrible. He had to leave a lot in order to help people. But he never mistreated her or did anything bad to her. At best, you can say that he wasn't being a good boyfriend by never being there for Amber. That's true. And if she had no idea why he kept leaving, it would have actually been bad. But as soon as she says "Yeah, I knew the whole time" then it means he was no longer doing anything bad. She knew he was a super hero and that he'd keep leaving since it was kind of his responsibility. Which then immediately puts the onus on her to either deal with it or break up with him. He's no longer at fault.

Cecil is a great character because of his complexity. He wants to save the world, but he will 100% sacrifice his own mother to do it.

The reason you like Omni-Man is due to some excellent writing strategies. Most comics/shows have villains with a fleshed out origin story and some redeemable qualities, but 99.9% of the villains in Invincible are just pure evil with no redeemable qualities. Omni-Man is the only villain with a heart, making him seem that much more relatable.

So many people have the exact same reaction to Amber. I know it's been well documented how the show writers messed up the transition from the comic and really regretted it later, but it's kinda funny seeing the second season Amber and how they wrote her completely differently and tried desperately to not make the same mistakes as in season one.

Omni Man's original plan before Mark got his powers was to wait out until his family died of old age and then take over the planet, but since Mark did get his powers he had top take over the world now. That is why omni man said "Maybe it would have been better if mark hadn't got his powers. "

He doesnt look like an infant because as Viltrumites age, they age slower. That's why Omniman still looks basically the same as when he left Viltrum. Also, it seems like they're kind of like Saiyans, the more beatings they take the stronger they get.

Nolan has spent thousands of years as a conqueror. He has no concept of the emotional attachment that can be made in such a relatively short time. To him, this was just another quick mission to conquer another planet. He didn't think he was going to fall in love. He didn't think he was going to have a child that he would have such a strong connection to. He didn't even consider these things, because they're outside of his people's lifestyle. He was truly having an existential crisis here.

Nah the most boiling thing about Amber is that when she blew up on Mark for 'Running away' during the University attack she knew that he didn't run away but rather got into the main heat of the fight to save people and she still gave him all that crass.

You like Omniman because he’s a very well written character and very well voiced too. Same with Homelander. Plus Omniman looks cool af.

I think the thing about Amber a lot of people forget is that she has stated on literally their first study date that she and I quote “Likes an honest man” She liked when Mark explained himself and was vulnerable with her during that date. However Mark keeps lying to her and making up crappy excuse to make up for it. While Mark is entitled to have his privacy, when you are in a relationship at somewhat there is an understanding you will get to learn your partner in a more personal way. Hiding something as important and big as a BEING A SUPERHERO is a big deal. Let’s also not forget back in episode 5 (I think???) Amber literally gives Mark the option to leave the relationship when he disappears again. Telling him if he has more important responsibilities then they should break up so he can focus on those. Amber literally gives Mark an out but **Mark** chose to stay with Amber. So when Amber finds out Mark is a superhero (Which she said she figured out a few weeks let’s just say a month to keep it simple) She was giving that time to Mark to be honest and he still choose to lie to her. I think Amber just had a very emotional response for being you know, **17 years old** this probably being a very serious relationship for her. Now me personally I think the writers did a poor job not showing the consequences that Amber had to deal with for Mark constantly leaving her behind. I think they could’ve done more to at least show Amber trying to make up for Mark’s absent and that would’ve at the bare minimum made us, the audience, a lot more sympathetic to Amber.

I like that during the entire series, every time Nolan tries to convince Mark of their "purpose", he's trying to convince himself as well.

Viltrumite aging is similar to Humans until their early 20's then it slows way down. "Are all the Viltrumites as powerful as Omni-Man?" Hahahaha! Some aren't and some are, and some are...MORE POWERFUL!

It's genuinely WILD to see a Viltrumite who's been around for thousands of years crying just from emotions. You've got to remember, they're brought up with totally different morals and ethics compared to humans. To them, seeing weaker, short-lived species die isn't even a bad thing, it's just how they've been taught since birth, all about conquering and expanding the empire no matter what. Empathy is almost not even a known word for them. Nolan probably had to learn that behavior to fit in

I am rationally angry with you for completely missing the single most emotional moment in the entire season because you were talking over it. Usually I’m here for the commentary, but that was so annoying.

Viltriumites aging process slows down as they get older, so the first 1-2 decades age normally but the slowing process increases exponentially.

INVINCIBLE is Outstanding when it comes to showcasing Violence & it's impact, you're not watching just some show that relies on Blood & Gore to entertain, it actually got a proper story & brilliant writing behind everything that happens - Can't wait for you to checkout SEASON 2 now 🛐 (Also, still waiting for the DCEU Movies Reactions)

Mark’s powers are connected to his viltrumite dna, his powers kicking in was his 95% viltrum dna basically activating. Weird to think he was living with only 5% of his dna (whatever that really means) but ig it’s just a testament to his invincibility
