The Most Wasteful makeup “Trend” | Why do people do this stuff??

I dislike any trend that wastes food and products. So annoying.

As a person who grew up extremely poor waste makes me furious. I still cut my lotion bottles open to get the last 10 uses of it . I think we need to stop feeding this kind of social media and I just skip it . Don’t feed the trolls .

I always have to skip these videos on TikTok as they drive me insane, such a massive waste of product and money 🙈🙈🤢🤦‍♀️

I just about cried when that first girl cut the top off that L’Oréal Infallible Pro Glo foundation. In Canada, that product is $25. I wanted to purchase it yesterday as I do love it for my dry skin and it’s a nice coverage product for the spring/summer for me - the summers here can be decently mild and my skin is dry due to several chronic illnesses. I don’t love making comments that focus on me and my issues, but this hit close to home. I couldn’t afford $25 yesterday, as I am on disability right now and I have to pay for some of my medical supplies, so it can sting a bit to see someone waste a whole tube of product for no reason other than the pursuit of a fleeting blip of attention on social media, plus more importantly, as you said, Robert, this isn’t content. It is not funny, entertaining, educational, transformative…it doesn’t comment on society, humanity, or the possibility of an afterlife, or any worthwhile, meaningful discussion. And no, content doesn’t have to be deep, it can be silly entertainment, but You Tube guidelines even say something like reaction to other content needs to be transformative. What even is this?? Another great video, Robert!❤

It’s all for shock value, but it disgusts me. Nothing funny about it.. just throwing money away and product away that someone would have loved to have! Just wasteful.

Purely based off the thumb nail I already hate this. My least favorite makeup trend is when people put crap makeup all over their face and then do a transition into good makeup 😭 just show the good makeup. Rage baiting gets on my nerves

Wasting food? Ugh that's taking it too far, alot of people don't have food to waste!

I think possibly another annoying thing about this is that it almost feels like people showing off “wealth” in a way, because it shows they are so well off that they can afford to buy a new bottle of foundation each time they do their makeup , which probably isn’t the case but STILL.

The worst thing about the rage-baiting videos, for me, is THAT THEY WORK! 🤬 Good lord they drive me absolutely crazy! I may very well have anger issues, but still…

Honestly the older I get the more I realize that a lot of these rage bait makeup videos are just fetish content. To most people this is just see has rage bait but these videos do go up on strange websites for a certain group to enjoy.

I wish social media didn’t fuel consumerism like it does. Especially with the young people who are just starting to understand value vs cost.. 🌟

Honestly, I’ve been seeing this for years with influencers on multiple platforms without necessarily being known as rage-bating, just basically influencers using way too much product just to get views altogether. I do a full face of makeup everyday for work and I am very glam, but I find that you really don’t have to use as much product as they are showing you that they are using and then cutting away and coming back looking perfect. I used to even post my daily makeup looks online because once upon a time back about 10 years ago I used to be a makeup artist for several photographers in my area and I just hate the wastefulness of what influencers are teaching people through apps to do with their products and to their skin. I love you and your brother and that’s why you two are among the few I still continue to watch and enjoy and support. Keep being amazing… and I love that eye look today. I’m going to have to copy that!!!!

They are like “woooow look it makes blending much easier”. Gurl if you do it right, you can make it easily with a little product

I just realized today that my pet peeve is thrift haul videos. I really like fashion and I'm from Eastern.Europe born in the beginning of 90's. Now I work in IT and have money, but during my childhood and teen years I was not able to afford a lot of stuff or just got them 2nd hand. And to see some people soo carelessly buying up a lot of stuff in thrift stores and steal the opportunity from not well off people is making by blood boil.

Those food-wasting videos give me so much anxiety with the mess they make but also how much is wasted. It's just disrespectful how much food is wasted when there are hungry people everywhere.

My favourite thing to do with obvious rage bait is "I don’t want to see this any more" "don't show me any more posts from this creator" 🌟

I'm embarrassed to say that I have never been on ticktock. When it first came out I was busy so RU-vid shorts became my ticktock. It sounds like I'm not missing too much tho'.

A lot of these gross trends seem to be “hidden” fetish content which others replicate without knowing that. Especially when it’s a pretty young woman doing something gross with their hands. That or just pure rage bait.
