I love how you can see on John's face two separate thoughts. One being "this is in the top two moments of my life, and the other was about an hour ago." and the other being "don't throw up, don't fall. don't throw up, don't fall."

John Green. Hank Green. John Darnielle. Neil Gaiman. Grace Helbig. Were all on one stage. At one time. There will be feasting. And dancing. In Jerusalem next year.

A friend of mine, a graphic novelist who has been through some tough as hell times, had a book release party at a local store that was just a blast. At one point he got up on stage with his brother & father-in-law and sang this song. He stopped part-way through, father-in-law still playing drums & brother playing bass, to tell the story of how he’d scrounged the money together to take his daughter to a local kids museum a few weekends before. He stopped by a store that was selling his books on consignment, and they said they had $15 for him or he could wait and come back to collect it all at once if they sold the last one. He said he could wait, took his daughter to the museum, and then an hour or so later she said she was hungry. She saw a sign and asked if they could have pizza. He almost reflexively said no, but then realized in that moment all he wanted was to make her day without a worry about money. “Yes! We can have pizza!” He walked back to the store that had his books for sale, to take them up on the $15. It was closed, lights out and doors bolted, with a sign saying it was permanently out of business. He then burst immediately into the chorus, and damn if I didn’t feel it.

John and Hank Green are such a positive force in the world. To see them have so much fun singing along to the Mountain Goats makes me so happy.

These people give me life. They help me make it through my toughest times, and celebrate with me in my times of triumph. I love them so much.

There's this phenomenon of seemingly unrelated people I look up to jamming out to This Year on stage with The Mountain Goats. First Craig Finn, then Stephen Colbert. I've seen this video several times but didn't become aware of John and Hank Green until the past year thanks to TikTok. I finally revisted this video for the first time in awhile, and surprise, it's the Green brothers!

I'm going through my Tumblr archive and it brought me back to this. I remember being so excited when The Yeti and Katherine came on stage. The way Hank holds his camera by the strap is still so anxious-making. The whole thing is just so wonderful.

So many of my favorite people on stage singing one of my favorite songs! I love how excited Hank is, pretty much on Cloud 9 right there!

I think I owe a bit of thinks to this moment for making my year awesome. When things were rough I just sang the chorus to myself. I am also glad this exists.

You can see how deeply connected John is to this song, this is wonderful.

What a great amazing bunch of dorks, didn't know this existed. Some of the most meaningful people to me all in one room. This would've been the place to be.

Ok, so there's this youtube channel called the vlogbrothers. Made up of two brothers, John and Hank Green. They have a massive following as they've been on youtube since the very early days. They put together this show.- John Green is a big Mountain Goats fan and a friend of Darneille which is why he's here, he's also a writer - which is where Neil Gaiman comes in - most of the other people are youtubers or friends of the brothers. I hope that explains at least a little of it. :)
