I remember watching "The Mouse Factory" as a tyke living in Portland. I was always traumatized watching Mickey getting devoured by King Kong at the end.

These were different from the Disney productions before. Far more frivolous. These productions were meant to be fun, in a time of "Make a Wish", and "Tomfoolery"!
On the Dr. Demento Show he played this theme song just before "LIttle Boxes," by Malvina Reynolds. That song had a tune identical to "Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania," by Guy Mitchell, from the Fifties. I heard that song, and associated it with a girl I knew from high school. My hope of a relationship with her failed, however, and I cried bitterly when I heard Mitchell's song, and, by association, Malvina Reynolds' song as well. Mickey's theme song seems to be a prelude to the teary notion.
June Foray (1917-2017) was the voice of Witch Hazel in the Donald Duck short “Trick or Treat” (1952). Coincidentally Foray would also voice another Witch Hazel two years later at Warner Bros in the Chuck Jones directed Bugs Bunny cartoon “Bewitched Bunny” (1954) The Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies Witch Hazel had a total of four cartoons Bewitched Bunny (1954) - Bugs Bunny Broom-Stick Bunny (1956) - Bugs Bunny A Witch’s Tangled Hare (1959) - Bugs Bunny A Haunting We Will Go (1966) - Daffy Duck & Speedy Gonzales
Not to mention June Foray recorded new lines for the character Witch Hazel for the NBC Halloween TV special, "Disney's DTV's Monster Hits" in 1987, nearly 35 years after she first recorded Hazel's voice for the 1952 Disney animated short, Trick or Treat (1952).

Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck should have been the other two witches along with Witch Hazel because Goofy and Louie from "The Jungle Book" are males, not females.
Our local station gave this a re-run in 1988/1989. It looked old then but I loved it because even as a kid I loved old cartoons and old TV shows. But does anybody know from where they've lifted that Merlin Vs Witch segment? I don't know which movie/short it is from.
This episode aired in 1972. Believe it or not it did NOT air during Halloween, it aired February 16, 1972, closer to Valentine's Day lol. No reason known but speculation has led us fans to believe it was supposed to have been aired around Halloween but with ratings not so good for this show they could have moved it hoping to capture ratings.

Back then and even now in many ways, Disney always released specials that either promoted their movies or their parks. In fact, the Imagineering Story on Disney+ clearly states this. That was the sole purpose of all of the Disney shows and later WWOD programming blocks, before the Disney Channel was meant to replace WWOD (which kind of didn't for a while) and now Disney+ will likely replace Disney Channel. So this episode actually promoted many things and with the Haunted Mansion being newer it was one of them. I can't recall if Phyllis Diller was considered huge at that time but Disney also used a lot of newer talent that later became A-list, like Kurt Russell and the Osmonds, to do specials on The Haunted Mansion. I believe some famous female child star also hosted some kind of promo for the Mansion ride, maybe at Disney World though.
@@waltsvaultofficial Phyllis Diller was a big deal in the late 60's/early 70's. The child star you are referring to is Drew Barrymore who appeared in a segment from the 80's NBC special 30 years of Disneyland about the Haunted Mansion.

@@waltsvaultofficial also, would it be alright if I shared one or two screenshots from it? I would include links for your pages. I could even remove them after a couple weeks after my readers have already seen them if you would need me to (my blog is not monetized, it's purely a hobby). Thanks again!
