In February 2022, the Lepage Center examined Philadelphia's past and present history.
Was the bombing of the home of MOVE organization on May 13, 1985, a turning point in the history of Philadelphia? How are scholars and activists reclaiming the narrative by creating archives to preserve local histories and combat erasure? How can we historically contextualize the recent revelations about the Penn Museum's use of human remains as "teaching tools"?
This webinar, featuring Mike Africa Jr. (Writer and Activist), Dr. Krystal Strong (University of Pennsylvania), and Dr. Crystal J. Lucky (Villanova University), explores the MOVE organization's significance for the city and important examples of Black activism and grassroots organizations in Philadelphia.
Part of the 2021-2022 "Turning Points in History" series
