In the debut episode of "The Move," a four-part narrative podcast series on the Colts' move to Indianapolis, host JJ Stankevitz tells the story of the rise and fall of the Baltimore Colts. What about the Colts led Baltimore to view them as a major force of civic pride? How did the championship-winning franchise of Johnny Unitas fall into disarray so quickly? And why were both owners of the team - Carroll Rosenbloom and Robert Irsay - looking to get out of Baltimore?
You'll hear from Jim Irsay, Pete Ward, Jon Scott, Rick Venturi, John Ziemann, Nestor Aparicio, Gerry Sandusky and more in the episode.

I lived in Indiana from 1958 till the present, I became a Colts fan in 1963 at the age of 10, and have been a loyal fan all my life, I was ecstatic when my favorite NFL team moved to Indianapolis, Mayor Hudnut and the city took a huge chance building a stadium without a team, I would say just as big a chance as Bob Irsay did when he spent every dime he had and borrowed more to buy the team. When the Maryland General Assembly moved to claim the Colts as Immenent Domain, I believe that was the straw that broke the camels back. Go Colts!

the team was already trying to leave but trying to seize the team was what led to how the team left

Outside of my 3 children, the Colts have been the shining start to a sometimes rough life. I will always bleed blue, and hope my firstborn, Peyton and her two sisters will too.

I am a huge Colts fan but can understand the resentment and anger older Baltimore fans may still feel to this day towards the Indy Colts and old man Irsay.

I don’t…. the city was literally trying to steal the team from him. They voted for and passed eminent domain either that same night he left or just shortly before or shortly after.

The city of Baltimore was damnear being unreasonable and trying to take the irsays team from them, what were they supposed to do just let them do it?

Idk why my comment was deleted but they were trying to steal the team from him…

I get why they're mad, but they need to be mad at the city of Baltimore too. Either way, it worked out for both cities in the long run.

I was embarrassed each time l read things B. Irsay said. However, Rosenbloom lied to him and he was bleeding money. I hope this series brings up how the city passed eminent domain to obtain control of the Colts just before the move which contributed to their hasty departure.

Irsay got the colts for $5 million and turned his family into billionaires. These teams were worth $20 million and getting cities to pay $50 million for stadiums. Incredible business.

It worked out for both cities in the end. We got the Colts and they got the Ravens. It's still embarrassing that the Ravens have more Super Bowls than we do with 12 less years though...all during the Manning and Luck era.🤦🏻‍♂️

@3vilc878 Colts went to two Super Bowls in Indy, but only won one. Only thing in the Manning era, we ran into Brady and the damn Patriots alot and if that didn't happen, maybe would have had 3 or 4 super bowls possibly.

@@trzl4916The Colts gave 2 Super Bowl wins, one in Baltimore , one in Indianapolis.

@JH-ot5mn I understand that, but that superbowl belongs to Baltimore. I don't count that towards to Indianapolis era. Baltimore have more championship and Super Bowl wins total. I wish Peyton could have been in more Super Bowls when he played. NE got in the way of everyone. But the Colts ran into Pittsburgh and San Diego as well.

They only have one more because one player couldn't reel in that onside kick lol. That's the only difference. Period. @@trzl4916

Stopping the video after 14 seconds to say this... I am extremely doubtful that this recording, produced by the Irsay-owned Colts organization, is going to be in any way truthful about Bob Irsay and his dirty dealings. This is the type of project that is incapable of overcoming sponsor bias. I hope I'm wrong but bet I'm not. Carry on.
