He was phenomenal. He was fast, and he was a mismatch nightmare for defenses. He held all of the tight end records when he retired. If he was young and could still play today, I think he'd still dominate.
@@topnotchtajmahal7216 by him being 225lbs a little light for a TE but running a 4.8 too slow to be at WR is the reason he was drafted in the 7th rd but he made himself into a HOF'amer
My dad has had season tickets for over 30 years. As a kid, I went to the games and everyone had their #7 Elway jerseys. Getting my first jersey was a big deal to me back then, and I went with #84 Sharpe. I've loved that guy for practically my entire life.
@@screwdriverman5-kf2ui Tony G didn't play with scrub QBs his entire career. He had Trent Green (one of the most underrated QBs ever) for 6 years, Matt Ryan for 5 years, and started his career off with Elvis Grbac and Rich Gannon.
I am South African, and don’t have depth knowledge of American Football, but this was so engaging that I’m planning to learn more about the game. Great presentation indeed. 👌
He is regarded as one of the greatest tight ends of all time! He is also a commentary and a football analyst who have worked his way through the years. He was the first tight end to surpassed over 10,000 receiving yards in his career.
@@ShuckyDucky09 Shannon Sharpe's own words: "My big brother, Sterling, I’m the only player of 267 men that’s walked through this building to my left that can honestly say this: I’m the only pro football player that’s in the Hall of Fame, and the second best player in my own family. If fate had dealt you a different hand, there is no question, no question in my mind we would have been the first brothers to be elected to the Hall of Fame."
@@bagtea I fully agree. Even now he considers his brother a better football player than him. The way he talks about his bro, Shannon don't have 3 rings by himself. He and his brother have 3 rings.
Soooo happy to see Young Sharpe. It's sooo weird how almost no one knew him from his HOF days, but now, he has become so popular and and most people know him from Undisputed
@@statechamp3465 probably older than you. I just don't get about American football and know him from Undisputed talking about basketball. Always heard he was good but it's just cool to see Young Shannon
Dude Shannon Sharpe isn't famous from Undisputed, he got that gig because he was already famous from his playing days and they needed a marquee name to help them compete with First Take for viewers. He was legitimately one of the biggest names in the sport at his peak.
@@josephmelendez8370people watch undisputed all over the world. He was famous in the US but from undisputed and now with club shay Shay he is known worldwide
Terrell Davis is not talked about enough. Their first SB season he rushed for 1750 yards. The next season he rushed for 2008 yards. That team was electric! I loved watching them when I was a kid.
I dont even understand how the game is played or scored but a story of struggle and adversity leading to success through sheer hard work and determination is something i will always cheer. I know him coz i watch basketball and him and skip were one of my fav analysts to watch coz of all the drama and stuff
Shay Shay is my all time number one favorite Denver Bronco. Always has been, always will be. He walked the walk and he talked the dang talk too. Listening to that Man all these years has been a gift, Thank you Mr. Sharpe, thank you very much!
nowadays, Broncos are full of JAGs. back then, we had MEN. opposing Defenses saw names like Elway, Sharpe, Davis, Smith and McCaffrey and were scared. our guys walked around with confidence and swagger. not no more, not no more.
This doc was phenomenal! Im 33 and knew he was great but had no idea of the journey! Everything from his brother playing in the NFL before him then breaking his neck then him winning his first SB with John Elway against (Brett Favre and) the team his brother would've still been playing for is deep. I also had no clue he was apart of the team that won The Ravens their first Super Bowl. Today we know him as 'Unc' but this was like learning about your real uncle's life when you were a kid lol...amazing
Ok and whats your point? I dont watch every single thing he has ever talked about but I do admire him. Just shut up and let people enjoy things. @@JamaalDaGreatest
@@JamaalDaGreatest I'm from Australia so we don't get American sports shows on our TV also I never really watched the NFL more an NBA fan. This was all new info to me Been getting into the NFL more and more
I first saw shannon on Undisputed afew years ago and learnt that he was a great nfl player before... seeing this video makes me appreciate him even more... Hes a phenomenal athlete and even bigger tv personality and business man now...
I love Shannon Sharp! I don't think the Broncos win a Super Bowl without him. He was like having a third wide receiver in there, and no linebacker could cover him. Every team has to have a motor mouth and Shannon was it! But he always backed up his trash talk with stellar play and a likeable goofiness! Those 96'-98' teams were homegrown w/o much free agency. Rod Smith was undrafted, and Terrell Davis was a 6th rounder. Thank you Broncos!
Shannon Sharpe is one of the greatest TE's to ever play the game. As a Bronco fan that suffered through some tough seasons since the early 70's, it was Sharpe that was the most clutch player not named John Elway.
@@MeLoNHeAd00 Yeah, sometimes I think he's the best and then I remember watching guys like Tony Gonzalez, Antonio Gates and Mike Ditka, etc., etc.. I'm just being honest, I've been a Bronco fan for over 50 years but you have to recognize some of these other guys that played TE as well. Shannon Sharpe is definitely one of the best though.
One thing i would like to see improved in these "how good was he really" videos (and this is acroos all channels) is more of how good they actually were. This was a good video but it seemed likenit was 90% Broncos history with some Shannon stats sprinkled in. I would like more of how he was measuring up compared to ther tight ends, who were the guys that could argue they were better than him at his position? What strenghts and weaknesses separated them? He was one of the first and best receiving tight ends in a time where tight ends were expected to block a lot, how did he measure up with receivers? Stuff like that
I wasn't initially a fan of his because of how much trash he would talked but he was one of the only reasons the Ravens made it to the Superbowl. They had almost no other offense. Was really good
@@poindextertunesJamal was still raw. He’s gonna get you those ugly yards but Shannon was scoring damn near all their points. People just don’t get how horrible dilfer was
@@TheDCGuitar13CASUAL. But the BS. Shannon wasn’t “scoring damn near all their points”. Can’t stand liars, embellishers, etc. Shannon doesn’t even need to correct you- but he has before. ONE GLANCE at stats or footage tells the clear story. Their running game was prime. Primary offensive reason. Obviously a great all-time D. Then a conservative, disciplined passing game. NOT Shannon scoring damn near all their points 🚫🧠
When he retired he was the all time leader for a TE in TDs , Receptions , and receiving yards , he paved the way for TEs like Gonzalez, Gates, Gronk, Kelce etc , oh and he has 3 Super bowl rings with 2 teams and was a team captain for all 3 rings
The fact that he had that much success on a team that had two nice wr and a great rb shows how good he was he would’ve killed in todays game too fast and strong
Yeah Shannon Sharpe was the greatest not only with his athletic ability but also an acrobatic tight end. His movements is as sharpe and smooth as a symphony and cascading waterfall. He is the greatest of all time.
Glad someone is finally making a vid about his HoF career. First started following him when he was with prick bayless on FS1 and he was hilarious in just about every episode. I love watching him on TV & his podcast. Undisputed will never be the same without him & Jenny
Shannon gave his older brother Sterling (who retired because of injuries) some ultimate flowers during his HoF speech. Something like: "I'm the only player in the NFL Hall of Fame, who wasn't the best football player in his family."
Heck, he wasn’t even the best receiver in his own family! Seriously, though, he was very good indeed. A modern comp would be Mark Andrews. Big, strong, precise, reliable.
Honestly facts. Considering era, run first offense, and how he was the first te to ever be a number 1 receiver on his team. I have him number 1, but l can see why others don’t
Shannon was a master at getting into the other teams head! Nobody talked trash like Shannon and backed it up! It was like the Incredible Hulk playing Tight end! I was Steelers fan who became huge fan of both Shannon and Sterling! Sterling was only just hitting his prime he was poetry in motion
He was dependable and always clutch. He was always 1 of the guys you never had to worry about. He was always going to show up. Was never selfish. He always laid it out on the line for the team. He's my 3rd favorite Bronco of All-Time. He's the GOAT TE. The only thing I disagree with him is his LeBron takes. LOL!
It’s not funny that he was that poor but that’s kinda funny someone broke into their house, thinking they were going to get a free lick, and then they were the one that got licked 🤣 I just think that’s kinda funny
Nah to people who actually watch him play back in the day, he absolutely was a force in his first 3 years after his sophomore season and absolutely dipped the rest of his career. Not calling him mid not calling him great. Just good
He is arguably the goat TE, he’d putting amazing numbers in todays era where throwing is much more common. Big, strong, explosive and ran effective routes.
lol cmon. not even top 5... great TE ... but I can name at least 5 better: Gronk Kelce Tony Gonzalez Antonio Gates Kellen Winslow Def not GOAT... an all time great? yes 100%
@@No85Limitsthese Bronco fans don’t wanna hear it lol Hey and I don’t blame them. I’d be pxssed off too if my team got finessed by Russel “Let Him Cook” Wilson 😂
Good enough to be top 5 TE all time and good enough to change the way TE play and are covered for ever he diversified and changed the position of TE for ever so thank you Shannon for not only being the player your were but the person you are not gonna lie sports casting wouldn’t be the same without you to so thx uncle Shannon for everything you have done on and off the field.
who even ask that question? Tom Brady is obviously the GOAT, they should focus on the lesser known players to ensure they got the proper exposure until Brady retires. Then they can make a holistic vid for the GOAT
We already know how good Tom Brady is/was. It’s like doing a video on Lebron James, the greatness is apparent. Let some other players who are more under the radar share the spotlight.
