I really miss these moves: Chip away, comet punch, ion deluge, magnet bomb, mirror shot, needle arm, nightmare, ominous wind, psycho boost, razor wind, signal beam, silver wind, sky drop, sky uppercut, skull bash, grudge, storm throw, and crafty shield. I wish they were available in all the modern games…
I'll never accept the reason for removing hidden power as a good one. Got rid of it to not have unexpected coverage moves, but in the same gen to proceed to give coverage to so many mons which are way stronger then hidden power. Between having higher base power and at times secondary effects. Gyarados gaining Power Whip is the big example I always remember from Generation 8. Special Move with low base power on its weaker attacking side is too powerful but 120 base power on its stronger attacking side is perfectly fine.
Its probably because the hidden power type would probably confuse new players even worse when you also have a tera type. They should have just made tera type the hidden power type but they wanted to push people into online raids.
I agree it can sometimes be a bit confusing as it always says its a normal type move. However I feel they provide enough information on how the move works. Unown as a species early on in Johto, and even the two students with Abras in the school early on in Sinnoh. They battle you with it so you see it first hand then your given the move.
If anything it broke it making it stronger then what it could of been with hidden power. Max moves base power is decided on the base power of whatever the regular move is. So instead of using a 60 base power hidden power grass, Gyarados gets to use a 120 base power Power Whip which makes the max move much stronger. They could of also just not allowed hidden power to be used as a max move.
Just my opinion I dont think you needed to list every move that you were gonna talk about especially z moves and gmax and instead maybe you can just show them on screen or only mention the interesting ones
With all of the moves available, I think it would be cool if Pokemon learned a move randomly from their pool at level thresholds. This would make each Pokemon a little more individualized.
This video is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I haven’t had the time to do my own research on the moves. I have diagnosed OCD so I’m trying to get all necessary content from the 3ds and below to my switch that isn’t available, and this move list is exactly what I needed. Thanks for putting in the effort to make this video, now I can grind a bit and have fun in my old games and transfer some Pokémon up before bank and home go down. I still play a fair bit of Pokémon and video games but not nearly as much as I did when I was younger since now I’m busy with work and school. For my favorite move that’s unavailable; that would be Signal Beam. I’m my childhood copy of SoulSilver which was my first Pokémon game, my Ampharos had it and I remember thinking the sound and sprite just felt so cool, and it was one of the only strong bug type moves.
The weirdest thing is: They started removing Moves - whilst they were programming a new cloud saving service that tracks whether or not you have every move ever... What kind of combination is this? A Move Removal that really surprised me is Razor Wind. There are not many Special Attackers in the Normal Pokémon Realm. But they are there and really stripped for Moves to make use off. (-> Try playing through Kalos with Litleo and Helioptile on your team and you will feel it a lot.) So why remove one of their already very shallow options?
Although this is good and comprehensive, I rather expected a video that talked more about (some of) these moves themselves; their function, power, distribution, etc. I definitely think some were cut needlessly. Jolteon and Espeon really enjoyed the coverage of signal beam.
This was actually talked about very much.... in the competitive community where it matters..... Some very great moves were lost, the ramifications still being felt today. Pursuit and Hidden Power were devastating losses... Return hurt a lot of mon too.... All of the attacking Z-moves and g-max moves are nothing but gimmicks that no one misses.
It’s good to know that not all the moves that were not present in Let’s Go or SwSh are gone for good, but it is unfortunate if you have a Pokemon with a decent coverage move but have to swap that move for a worse coverage move when sending it to a game that doesn’t have the original coverage move. As for the moves that are still stuck on 3DS, a number of those moves have a unique mechanic that only one or two moves use (friendship based power with Return and Frustration, Water Sport weakening fire type attacks, Sky Drop being the move that always seemed to break every generation one way or another). But most of the moves that are still stuck on the 3DS should be reworked to be more balanced, either buffed to have higher power or accuracy, debuffed for being too good (such as Assist), or have the battle mechanic of moves with unique move mechanics removed or replaced. I like how Silver Wind is in Legends Arceus but it would be nice if it’s in the next generation games or remakes even if it means removing it’s secondary effect to become more balanced, just so that there is another option for Special Attacking bug type moves.
If Game Freak/Nintendo took the time to add every Pokémon, along with every move into Sword and Sheild, it would be one less problem to deal with. After all, people wouldn't mind waiting a bit more if it means a higher quality product.
i was sad Octazooca is not in SV i love to put on Kingdra because it’s such a cool move even tho it could use a buff in power or accuracy lol… i love those flavor-text-like Moves
and this is not even to mention moves that weren't removed from the games, but did get removed from a pokemon's learnset. For example, how in bdsp many pokemon who in gen 4 could, can no longer learn toxic anymore due to changes in learnsets and teachable TMs. I'm okay with rebalancing what learns what if it makes some pokemon's ability to learn certain moves make them more special, or if it made no sense how a pokemon could learn that move anyways, but it is sorta sad to think how a strategy you may have used in Diamond or Pearl might not even be possible in their remakes.
This is well researched, but I am a tad disappointed that no shadow moves from Pokémon Colosseum/Gale of Darkness were mentioned, since they’re some of the coolest moves we ever got.
it’s a skill issue you dont know what these moves do, and besides, that’s straight up unreasonable especially when you can look up any move on google easily
