hello im makin videos again, don't worry casual vs speedrun will be back within a week, i had to take last week off for life and financial reasons, so figured i'd end my break by giving myself a break from CvS, i love it but i want to make other things. updates and video notices @ twitter.com/FriendlyBaron cause youtube often wont notify and stuffs. im also deciding to open a patreon because i am VERY close to being able to go full-time streamer/youtuber but youtube has cut ad ratios lately, so its either patreon or taking sponsors, so if you want to help me out financially for some neat lil benefits, you can do so here www.patreon.com/friendlybaron (if you reply to this comment i will read it but youtube makes it hard to reply to, if you want a reply then add a new comment to the video, not to this pin, thanks!)
Man, I don't really am a huge fan GTAV but your videos have had a great impact in me, not only because I get to know the little tricks developers use to make a videogame but also it shows how passionate can someone be about his favourite game and I just love that. Keep the amazing work and if you decide to open a Patreon I really hope that it turns out perfectly for you.
A little detail you missed with the Blitz play - Heat reference. In the movie, the robbers wear white masks, resembling hockey masks. In game, there’s an extra mission goal during the set up to get 3 white hockey masks
"I Fought the Law.." Mission is also a throwback to GTA SA's "Reuniting the Families" mission, where 2 police bikers about to chase the suspects after throwing their donuts then saying like "Waste of good donuts. Let's roll."
For the Blitz Play mask set up you get a gold if you buy 3 hockey masks for all characters, like in Heat Also: JB700 JB = James Bond 700 = 007 backwards
The use of the garbage truck in the armored car robbery is a reference to LA Takedown (Heat’s Predecessor). In Michael’s trailer you see him wearing a gas too, which the robbers wore in LA Takedown.
This video is great! It’s shown a new area of the game that I never thought about. A game that I’ve always played and my favourite movie have now become linked together brining a new feel to that mission.
a quick thing you missed in the Blitz Play mission in one of the setup missions leading up to Blitz Play you have to buy masks for each character. bying three white hockey masks gets you the gold medal objective "Cliche", also referring to "Heat".
The Big Score's, "Obvious," route is mostly a reference to Die Hard: 3 with a sprinkling of Heat. The actual robbery of the Union Depository, right down to the method of penetrating the subterranean vault with a large driller, is almost ripped straight out of Die Hard: 3's playbook, with a few differences being the method in which the police are diverted from the actual robbery and how the gold is transported away via helicopters. The shootout in the Maze Bank plaza, after the gold is taken by the chopper team, is essentially a love letter to the final shootout in Heat, when the team hits a large-scale bank and has to fight through extreme police resistance. The Agency Heist's, "Hack," route is most heavily influenced by the original Die Hard, the F.I.B. building even bearing some resemblance, though not as much as Maze Bank, to the Nakatomi Plaza/Fox Plaza. Starting from the point in which the intended getaway chopper crashes into the side of the building, also in the movie, the team has to fight their way through agency goons to get to a low enough floor that they can repel from the side of the building without being blown around by the wind. Not exactly John Mcclane's ride on an emergency fire hose, but we'll take it. Once reaching ground level, if you picked a decent starting driver or a previous driver with improved skills, you'll be able to make a clean and inconspicuous escape in an ambulance. Take note that Hans Gruber and his goons had planned to escape with Nakatomi's bearer bonds in an ambulance themselves. EDIT: During the, "Subtle," run of the Big Score, Michael bribes one of the Group Six security guards with a gold bar after successfully stealing away to the underpass/hobo village with the loot. This is also a reference to Die Hard: 3, only missing the line, "Fort Knox is for tourists," which would've made it 1:1, right down to the choreography.
for blitz play there’s BIG reference to hear. in one of the set ups where you buy masks, if you buy hockey masks for all characters, you get gold for the mission, forgot what it was called
This and part 2 are great, I’m a huge movie and GTA fan and I had never realized some of the references (even though I’ve seen the movies) very well done!
5:58 also would like to add it's not the first time Rockstar used that scene as inspiration for a mission on one of their games, as the same scene is referenced in GTA SA Just Business
the scene taken from terminator 2 is also one of the early missions in gta san andreas when smoke and cj are on a bike not just being chased by a mob but also a big truck which mimics the same drop into the LA river in the game
thanks! it sucks i cant make a living off them since i dont do clickbait and stuff but oh well. will enjoy it for a bit longer until i probably have to start working again
You forgot about the mission "The Big Score", the A option when you have to steal some armoured trucks. Is very similar to the movie "Armoured". But in the movie they hide the trucks in an abandoned building not under a freeway and they hide the money in a hole in wall not on cars.
You forgot (or maybe decided not) to mention that in GTA Online, the adversary mode series “Hasta La Vista” (one of the first modes ever added) is almost exactly like the Terminator 2 scene in the LA river. And the name of the adversary mode itself is a reference to Arnold’s famous quote as well. Either way, cool video!
And in GTA Online, there was a mode where you get Weeny Issis, which are the Mini Coopers in GTA, and you have to escape the cops, and it was inspired The Italian Job.
@@FriendlyBaron he is talking about the modern warfare trilogy, which is absolutely legendary. I've been reading some of your comments on other threads and you strike me as a douche, or snowflake at best, no offense :). Also don't blame infinity ward for the stupid decisions of activision, if that is how you're looking at it. Infinity ward makes the game, activision enforces the lootboxes. Also infinite warfare campaign was beautiful, the game itself was just a case of wrong place wrong time.
@@shalindelta7 Baron has a different opinion to you, regarding a game. That makes him a snowflake? Is that what you're saying? Sounds like it's not Baron that's a snowflake, it's you if it bothers you enough to insult him by calling him a douche.
@@arkhamwayne4566 don't come in and defend a man that can do it for himself like a white knight. you will not have a pat on a back, and that guy is right, maybe not a snowflake but we all can agree why Baron said what he said for what reason.
In the mission where you do yoga there is a gold medal objective for getting all the poses correct first try called Praise The Sun in reference to Dark Souls
@Gameplay sul telefono Funny how it's 1994 and GTA SA was in 1992. The people from the movie must have played GTA SA before doing whatever (Yes i know GTA SA was released in 2004 don't go saying it)
Notable mentions: GTA Online Missions, some missions from the los santos tuners update, with sessanta, even features a guy wearing leather jacket, gloves, glasses, a shotgun, and that can take up to 4 rpg blasts, or a LOT of bullets, explosions and such. And you steal the semi truck from the set on the sewers...
hey friendlybaron the heat reference is also from a game payday 2, armored transport heists, when the group goes to different locations, drills or either blows the doors with c4, get the loot and escape
@@marcamico5254 yes but it also took inspiration from a 90's gang movie, I don't remember its name but the whole Ballas and Grove street rivalry was inspired from that movie
The Big Lebowski... a beautiful memory. A man I gave 15 years of my life to before tragedy took him away... showed me the film in our early years together... he said I was the only person he knew that broke down crying over Donny... ~never made the connection, myself, but now I know why Micheal's dream sequence always makes me smile and feel "good/happy" ...it takes me back to that night on his couch at Amber Acres... miss ya, hon...
Up in the Paleto Bay police station, you can find two officers, one of the officers has "Grimes" on his name badge, this is a reference to "Rick Grimes" from "The Walking Dead". As Rick was a police officer in the show.
The Rhapsody in GTA V is based on the AMC Pacer, which was used in Wayne's World, also in GTA IV The Rhapsody has a unseen texture of Wayne's World in the dash of the car
Usually couples might divorce if one is cheating. Micheal was like nah That’s boring let’s make him pay pull down his house that isn’t even the coaches
The falling out of the plane can also leads to fast and furious 7 where they jump out of a air craft in armored veichles including TJ with an armored jeep leading Trevor doing so
Rockstar Games also published The Italian Job game in 2001 Based on the 1969 movie, there's also a heist that we Escape with Gauntlets then Take the muscle cars in the trucks before exiting the tunnel after taking the score and having a shootout with Merryweather, the whole next is Inspired The Italian Job 1969 and The Italian Job pre last mission's mini cars Escape and the bus
A little trivia on Italian job, the cars used in that tunnel Subway chase scene was actually the first version of an electric mini Cooper, it obviously wasn’t a factory build but it was an EV conversion and the reason they did that was because the carbon monoxide would build up too much in the tunnels if they used stock vehicles
The part about the Jewel store heist. That part could also be linked to a TV show called Gothem where one of the robbers count down the response time while the others get the cash.
Even a bigger referance to T2 Judgement Day, one of the prep missions for the boilingbroke contract, takes place in the river or a movie set, with two flat nose trucks, and two NPC’s that have Similarities to James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
