I hated the workflow on my MPC one at first but now that i fully understand it I love it and feel like im making my best productions on it. Takes some time to understand it. But everyone's workflow is different. Dope video and beat as usual.

@@BoombapArt Yeah man, I agree with you 100%. I'm a Maschine MK3 user and the Maschine controller and the software has the easiest, fastest and most fun workflow out of all the controllers. I feel the same way about my MPC Live 2. I just use it as a scratch pad because it’s so useful as a stand alone but this is an expensive scratch pad. I'm still trying to justify why I'm keeping my MPC Live II which I bought a few months ago.. I like that it is a standalone device at least with an onboard speaker, but man is it hard to actually compose on the thing. Constant menu switching, the touch screen is super finicky, arranging is tough..

With my Maschine background and also having the Maschine Plus.. I went back and forth which one to buy, the One or Live II .. but I’m glad I didn’t spend that money on the Live II. I was/am the same way. I'm now used to the workflow, however, i believe MPC is best in standalone, and then add your external components. I may use it for travel purposes or may just give it away once I get the Live 2.

@BoombapArt
@BoombapArt Год назад
The sequencer is fine, and using the screen to adjust the midi notes if needed also fine. The menu diving, sub menus just confused me, and the biggest problem I had with it, the sample chopping. Sure you can do the same type of chopping via slices/zones in Maschine.. that I don’t use. I’ve been duplicating from one pad to the next on Maschine and adjusting the start/end and that takes less than 1sec to do.. it was not the best practice on the One with a pop up screen “do you want to copy”…
@BoombapArt
@BoombapArt Год назад
And if we talk about lazy chopping.. that only works if you have like a 2-4 bar loop.. then it’s better to micro sampling instead and just sample the parts needed, like on the 404 MK2.. it’s not efficient to sample a whole song.. but I like to do that, and I don’t truncate my chops until I’m happy, so if I have a chop I need to replace I just change the start/end point.

Judging by your channel, I'm kinda confused about what you're preferred workflow actually is then over the MPC One. On one hand, you seem happy with the SP404 MK2,. Which is also standalone and as much as a bitch to get your head around, if not worse compared to the MPC One. And I'm not even mentioning its limitations vs the MPC One. On the other side, you seem to prefer a more hybrid workflow with the Maschine MK3 and Mikro MK3. So what's it going to be, standalone workflow-focussed or hybrid workflow-focussed? In the case of the latter, Ableton Live + the Push 2 is the superior setup but that's just my opinion of course.
@BoombapArt
@BoombapArt Год назад
I understand the confusion. Everything started with the hybrid setup MK3 and software, and I still use the software when I’m trying out a new keyboard. When it comes to the standalone I’ve been using the MC101 a lot and the 404a and now the MK2, sure the SPs are quite special in terms of limitations etc, but never had any problems leaving them and coming back. I also have the Maschine Plus which is standalone, and that feels like home using that. I’ve tried Ableton and didn’t like it..

Im not sayin that these devices aren’t boombap.. but the mpc workflow is not for me. I still have Maschine Plus, SP404 A and MK2, MC101, Verselab MV1, PO33.. and I will keep my MPC2500.. but I don’t need the MPC ONE.. I can do the same stuff with Maschine Plus in standalone.

I use computer every now and then, but more so when I wanna sample VSTs.. not so much when it comes to beatmaking nowadays

I’ve had the 2000xl.. unfortunately it was beyond saving at the time.. so I sold it. Not sure what I expected buying the One, more than a different workflow compared to the 2500.. sure it was, but.. I’m just not a MPC guy!

Sup Andy! This channel started out with the Maschine MK3, and I’ve been messing around with a lot of different gear.. bought the MPC One recently and realized it’s not for me.. I’m more of a Maschine guy and mess around with the SP404

Never used a NI Maschine myself but I hope you continue to make great music because that's what I am hear for however it is produced, once you passed the tutorial stage doesn't matter what another person uses to make the music, the inspiration can be translated to any format you understand well enough I think. 😀

I come from a “tracker” background, used Madtracker for 18 years before I bought my first pad controller the Maschine MK3 back in 2018, so I’m fairly new to the hardware stuff. Once you find gear that works, the best thing is to stick with it.

@@BoombapArt what tracker? I used Renoise way back a little bit and recently got a Teensy 4.1 and am using M8 Headless on it to chop breaks and resample them into my MPC One .. mad you should bring that up, maybe do some tracker vids for a lot of people who maybe don't know what one even is ;)
