1:23, yeah it is was lackluster, as critics called it "Mummy: Impossible." And has a disappointing 17% on Rotten Tomatoes. If you want to see the original Mummy, I stick with the Brendan Fraser version.

I also suggest checking out the mummy films that preceded the Brendan Fraser Mummy films, particularly the original universal film (1932) starring Boris Karloff in the role of the mummy Imhotep, as well as the Hammer Film Productions mummy film that starred Christopher Lee in the role of the mummy Kharis.

Owen Gleiberman of Variety: "The problem at its heart is that the reality of what the movie is-a Tom Cruise vehicle-is at war with the material. The actor, at 54, is still playing that old Cruise trope, the selfish cocky semi-scoundrel who has to grow up. ... The trouble is that Cruise, at least in a high-powered potboiler like this one, is so devoted to maintaining his image as a clear and wholesome hero that his flirtation with the dark side is almost entirely theoretical."

Hmm Amunet was an Egyptian goddess. Also, if you want a good movie based in Africa, how about you cast some black folks so it's at least believable
@stainshield
@stainshield 4 года назад
Tom Cruise was THE Problem with The Mummy, because nobody likes his circus midget ass. Universal should have gone for either Jason Ritter, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Matthew Lawrence, Paulo Costanzo, Diego Luna, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Eddie Redmayne, Rider Strong, or Justin Long instead of a circus midget pushing 60 and plus those 10 actors are close to age with Annabelle Wallis and they would of had great chemistry with her which was why Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz had such great chemistry together because they were close to age, whereas Tommy Boy is old enough to be her father being how she was 1 when he was in Legend with Tim Curry and Top Gun with Val Kilmer. Plus neither one of them would screw Sofia Boutella over, who is THE Real Star of The Mummy. I heard that Tom Cruise changed the script and made it all about him which I am not surprised at, because R. Lee Ermey said in an interview from 2006 that it was Tom Cruise that destroyed Stanley Kubrick's last film Eyes Wide Shut. Also if they had gotten one of those 10 actors, you wouldn't have heard so much about bringing Brendan Fraser back. Because think about this, did you hear people tell Columbia Pictures and Disney to bring back either Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man when they cast Tom Holland for the role in Captain America Civil War, not that much and why. Because Tom Holland doesn't come with any baggage like that circus midget does. Also Alex Kurtzman was THE Problem as well since he wanted The Monsters to be Awesome Action Heroes instead of Tragic Villains Of Horror and he didn't wanted Luke Evans' Dracula from Dracula Untold in The Dark Universe.

7:30, I wished this film was not a reboot, but a continuation of the Mummy Series, as Tom Cruise plays the son or grandson of Jack O'Connell, who at first didn't believe his stories about Mummies coming back to life, until he found the Black Book Of Hamunaptra, and all hell breaks loose. He is a stale stiff wooden actor who is a one trick pony and the only reason he got were he is today was because of his good looks, because he was that guy every man wanted to be like and that guy every woman wanted to be with. If you saw Stranger things Season 1 where Steve told Nancy that he would take her out for a movie to watch Risky Business to see her crush and in Season 2 Steve was dressed up as Tom Cruise's character from that movie. I am not surprised that Tom Cruise wrecked The Mummy with his ego, because R. Lee Ermey even said that Tom Cruise destroyed Stanley Kubrick's last film Eyes Wide Shut. Universal should have gone for either Jason Ritter, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Paulo Costanzo, Diego Luna, Eddie Redmayne, Matthew Lawrence, Rider Strong, or Justin Long instead of a fucking circus midget like Tommy Boy who is pushing 60. Because one of those 10 would of had better chemistry with Annabelle Wallis being how they are close to age with her, whereas Tom Cruise is old enough to be her father being how she was 1 when he was in Legend with Tim Curry and Top Gun with Val Kilmer. Chemistry is important, that was why Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz did well and also if Universal had gotten one of those 10 actors that I mentioned, neither one of those 10 would have done Sofia Boutella dirty and you wouldn't have heard bring back Brendan Fraser as much. Because think about this, did you hear people say bring back either Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire when Columbia Pictures and Disney Studios cast Tom Holland as Spider-Man in Captain America Civil War for The MCU, not that much and why. Because Tom Holland doesn't carry any baggage with him like Tom Cruise who jumped on a couch during The Oprah Winfrey Show or belongs to a toxic cult.

nothing like the Brendan fraser Mummy trilogy well specially Mummy 1 and 2 with imhotep but is honestly sad that the dark universal haven't done much great to the massive endless potential that they have i did liked Dracula untold but i know it wasn't the best dracula movie either i just hope universal will get serious someday to deliver masterful movies or series based on this classic horror universe in the mean time SUPER HAPPY WITH CASTLEVANIA animated series

They should’ve tone down the comedic tone and went even more darker

I thought it had potential, but failed horribly to live up to it. Dr. Jekyll's character was pretty cool, I agree. I'd be more interested in a movie about him, too.

You should explore some miniseries as well, like BBC Dracula, and Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrel

I saw this movie and I thought it was decent but i was able to see almost every ‘plot’ twist that was called mint simply because they moved the story away from Egypt to England. It’s hard to not see what will happen when the movie shows you it like 10 minutes before hand and what romance?

That too as well as Tom Cruise being the problem

I think it's in Tom Cruise's contract that he *HAS* to run in all of his movies.

Another obvious problem was that, even if the movie had done well, the fact that it would be the Monster equivalent of Marvel's movies meant that they would've been forced to bring back big actors like Cruise and Crowe. I feel that would've been quite a bit difficult unless the movies did extremely well.

Marvel kinda ruined the movie industry by succeeding so well for so many years. The problem is they had a decade to tell their full story everyone else is trying to do it in far less time. The Godzilla universe seems to be doing well but then again I'm kinda a bias on the King of monsters and don't care how campy or rushed his movies are as long as I can see Godzilla fight.
