The first film was the best. The sequels got worse as they went on. The CGI was good for its time. You were a bit quiet. Maybe adjust the sound settings next time. It's a fine balancing act...;)
I think this film just got action adventure right. You need a sense of humour and a suspension of disbelief to help the audience just sit back and enjoy the ride. It's cinema at it's best. The only other films that really got that balance right were the Sam Raimi Spider-mans (minus 3 of course).
I have to go with Indiana Jones on this one. Something magical about a Spielberg movie, especially the ones from the 80's-90's. Something with the music and film quality that has me thinking, "Oh dang, this is premium" from the very first pan-shot. I think the Mummy is fine for a mindless action flick you don't need to focus on (and probably shouldn't) for the best experience. I think the Indiana Jones movies hold up well as an immersive focused experience. My two cents, anyway. And, fun review, I enjoyed it :)
I would have to agree with the magic of that time period of Spielberg and if I am honest raiders is a better film. But the mummy just makes me smile and I am kinda in love with brendan fraser and Rachel Weisz.
Oh, I really love the Mummy, but I did always enjoy Indiana Jones more; however, that might be because Indiana Jones had more punching/defeating of Nazis. Always love a good old fashioned Nazi punch tbh
