With the return of Brendan Fraser's Rick O'Connell and not Rachel Weisz as Evie the team set off to China in order to stop an ancient terracotta warrior played by Jet Li. The last movie Brendan Fraser made before Hollywood randomly decided he wasn’t good enough anymore and his ex wife tried to ruin him. Glad he’s started making a comeback

It wasn't so random, apparently he was groped at a hollywood party or something and it kinda messed him up emotionally. He tried coming forward about it, but the groper was someone high up and he got blacklisted, which sucks cause I really like him. Just looked it up, From wikipedia: Fraser alleged in 2018 that he was sexually assaulted by Philip Berk, the president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association at a luncheon in the summer of 2003. The incident, and his subsequent divorce, launched Fraser into a depression which, combined with his health issues and a backlash within the industry over speaking out against Berk, he believes caused his career to decline.

@@Rilenz13 That whole situation makes me sick to my stomach. He is not only a really great, likable actor, but also seems like a solid person. It makes me really sad that he both had it so difficult with his ex-wife, but was also a product of how twisted and unaccountable Hollywood is. I'm also really glad the he's making a comeback, because he was in so many movies that defined my childhood. And I hope that he somehow gets justice someday.

One of the problems with The Mummy sequels is that they abandoned the horror. Granted the first movie has more focus on action and adventure, but it got quite gross at times for a family film. Ho hum. Better than the Tom Cruise one. That shit was just insulting

What I don't get in the Mummy movies why do Imhotep and the emperor get punished in a way that gives them the possibility to become even more dangerous, get super powers and conquer the world. Its like the curse, instead of neutralizing the danger, makes it even (much) worse.

The fact that they set a entire film in China during 1946 and didn’t realise the entire nation was in a massive civil war and had been for 30 years is bafflingly stupid. Granted I don’t think Brendan Fraser running from the The Kuomintang and The people’s army wouldn’t be a good mummy film, but they should have just set this in 1950 once the civil war was over and avoid this issue

As one who grew up with the Brendan Fraser Mummy movies, First movie was excellent, terrifying at times and wrapped up nicely with room to grow if they chose. 2nd movie while different, wasn’t unlikable and made some logical storytelling choices (I.e they have a kid) 3rd movie was.... eh, they tried WAY too hard to be like the first one. They didn’t even have Evelyn’s original actress come back... only part I liked in the movie was the bronze horse chase and Rick shooting fish. After that, the film just goes down from there.

The way Brendon Fraser sells it in this is that... something broke in him, in the desert, and he has never gotten it back. I get the feeling in a lot of the action scenes in all of these movies he's like, "I might die right here, guns blazing *and I'm totally fine with that."* " That's the best description of Rick O'Connell's essence as a character I've ever heard.

In my headcanon, it's in the same universe and it explores the origin story of the Scorpion King before he went bonkers and created armies of the undead as part of a pact with Anubis. Loved these movies I like the idea of the terracotta army and something different from Egypt after the first two but I think when I watched this one I was disappointed.

Damn i didn't know that Brendan Fraser was completely destroyed by these movies. I know that he got payed a lot but i don't know if it's worth years of hospital and surgeries.

An action trilogy or series does have a psychological and physical impact on any actor that doesn’t normally do those movies (Fraser mostly did slapstick comedies and a few dramas here and there) but I’m glad to see him recovering career-wise

It's sad learning about the groping thing. He's a phenomenal actor and I wish he'd take on more roles. Nobody really KNOWS the whole story behind this. It's too bad. Move on.

The chemistry between Maria Bello and Brendan Fraser is non existant, nowhere near what he had with Rachel Weisz. The goofiness was something I didn't like either, that touchdown moment with the yetis makes me cringe every time.

I watched it as a preteen and as a huge fan of the series. I was WAAYYY more upset about the casting change than you guys. I still am. I never even finished this movie because I was so out of it. Not my Evelyn.

Yeah, at the time I just couldn't get past it, in no way did she feel like the same character. And it was almost painful when she said a clearly "classic" Evelyn line. They really should have left it until they could get Rachel Weisz on board, or written her character out of the story somehow.

They messed up the whole movie with Maria Bello... I mean, she’s a great actress, but she couldn’t do it at Rachel’s level... also there is no chemistry between her and Brendan, not even with John... there was a scene where she grabbed a sword and cut some candles, that was CRINGY cuz it looked and sounded so fake, also her accent was way unrealistic... I think someone like Kate Winslet could’ve done it way better...

@@whyiseverythingalreadytaken There are only a handful of Americans that could do an English accent convincingly. It’s one thing to do a British accent, it’s a whole other thing to do Weisz’s accent. They should’ve written her out of the movie and said she was doing excavation in Egypt or working with the Bembridge scholars at the Museum or something.

They could've find another way to include a new female character.

I know it's everybody's least favorite of the trilogy but I still love it. Been a Brendon Fraser fan since Encino Man and that's never going to change.
