The Empty room the best song I have ever heard. Thank you so much. I cry my eyes out everytime I listen to it as my two wonderful sons have emigrated and I like the song long for the day they return Thank you as it gives me hope.
Saw this family band in the MilleniumTheatre Derry/londonderry tonight and really enjoyed this song.Well executed to a great beat. This music lifts the soul and the lead singer has great expression and swing,The overall ensemble was cracking in all departments. Thanks for the experience,I think the accent is pure class,
Once upon a time some bright lights called to me, And I dreamed of future fortunes and the things that I could be So I left my little town thinking it would hold me down, But my youth was yet to teach me that my feet were for the ground. So I set my sights on a life in a life in the grand city, Where the streets of promise drew me in, And the brightest light lit the path of my ambition, But the streets of promise played the game I couldn't win. I lived the life but over time my wishful heart began to find, That it's not always easy to those you love behind, Those city streets were paved with gold they went and kept me on my toes And so it seems my new bound dreams were treasures to behold. So I set my sights on a life in a life in the grand city, Where the streets of promise drew me in, And the brightest light lit the path of my ambition, But the streets of promise played the game I couldn't win. As years went and passed me by it took me time to realise That all I ever wanted was that game on the Emerald Isle, I packed my bags with lessons learned, I headed home to where I yearned Thank God above to those I love and blessing me ? So I set my sights on a life back home in Ireland, On the streets of promise I'll begin Now there's starry skies like the path of my ambitions And the streets of promise may gain but I cant
This band is totally underrated. They were by far the best country act on that TG 4 contest in all the years it ran, but I guess they didn't ask their friends to flood the switchboard with votes for them, but it was a shame their talent was not recognised by viewers on that occasion. Their version of Heartbreak Hill is fantastic as is this song. Murphys, could you please, please upload your version of Wildflowers with Mick Flavin if you have it on tape, I had it on tape but it got damaged and I'd love to hear it again and again ..Thanks

Thank you Elizabeth for your lovely comment, slightly confused though about your reference to “ letting our religion get in the way “ in the way of what exactly ? Unfortunately our religion is not what is used to be , & we are the poorer for it ,,, ☘️☘️

A brilliant song with great lyrics and a very catchy melody. I'm a big fan of and play a lot of traditional irish music and irish country music and it is great to hear good music. Is there anywhere to find the lyrics of the song as I would love to use it with a trad folk group that I am in. Thanks
