For the early 1960's this was way ahead of it's time.

Not really. Just a few years later came the Lamborghini Miura and the production Mustang is much more conventional.

We often think of the Mustang as old time rock and roll, but this design would've been the equivalent of EDM or techno-pop in its day. I'll still take the Mustang that came of this.

To think that wooden mustang logo would still be used 60 + years later even in the most modern electric mustang .....

I think the Saab Sonett used the same engine in a front-engine, front-wheel-drive arrangement.

The car in this video has nothing to do with the car the world knows as the Ford Mustang. Ford used that name for this concept, and nothing more.

Mustang was introduced in 1964. Camaro wasn't till 1967. Mustang created the market Camaro was the late comer.

I only wish Ford had the guts to make a car like this... still, I like the Mustang we got.

If only Chrysler made a car like that. They had the guts.

It was simple. The production volume for a 2-seater would have been much less. Making it a 4 -seater made it more practical ( you could take some in the back seat IF you HAD TO ) and opened it up to the magical many faces of Mustang - a girl's car with the 6, a luxury sporty coupe with a nicer interior, a road racer with a HiPo.

Harder to get looking good, needs a structure, Not really a mature technology. Very expensive when in mass production.

@@RonPaulgirls what do you mean wrong? This is literally a video made by Ford, in the early 60s about their new sports car concept, which was followed by another concept and finally the mustang we know in 65. It doesn't have to be the same car, it was a concept to study the idea of a new sports car, from engineering to public appeal.
