the difference in quality between these two movies is honestly astounding... but my love for jensen ackles brings me back every year

I watch this literally for Jensen Ackles and that is it 😂 and while I’ve never seen the original and can’t comment on its differences, it is by far not the worst horror movie I have seen. You just have to take it for its cheap, kind of campy, 2000s slasher remake, cause like are they ever good?

I found your channel through your recent Sinister review and since then been watching your videos. I'm so glad you made one of these movies as well! Keep up and good luck with growing, I'm sure to stick by, the tone you talk with, the movies and the details you mention are something that I'm always looking forward to. Thank you for the videos! On an added note, the new movie was hellbent on 3D because it became a "new thing" (even though it was already existing in 1920s) around those years, every other movie was messing around with 3D. One of the Spy kids movie is what comes to mind, but yeah. It was also the first R rated movie that was projected with realD technology.

Love this movie! This was filmed near where I grew up outside of Pittsburgh and actually got to talk to Jensen in 2016 about the filming in the mines when he did a convention in Pittsburgh 🎉 he’s such a sweetheart. He said he had a ton of fun with this movie

Appreciate your honesty on this film. I really enjoyed both My Bloody Valentine films. I saw the remake in the theater which was a blast because the 3D I thought worked really well. It was one of my favorite 3D horror movie experiences.

I really love the way you talk about sub-genres of horror (Slashers, Religious, etc.) in these review vids. Maybe you could consider a series where you dissect a "best example of" and a "worst example of", to illustrate what makes a great film great in its given category. Looking forward to more content 😊

Keep it up, your stuff is more inciteful than many doing similar that simply drone on and do a long synopsis of the film with no dissection. I disagree, I saw this movie with my date on opening weekend, it’s a 3D movie, this came out during the 3D craze right after Avatar had came out, but it was actually shot with the 3D camera technology , it wasn’t just a conversion, so naturally we watched it in 3D in a packed movie theater and everybody had a blast. I have seen the original movie, I grew up in the 80’s but truthfully I never really liked the original but I liked this one because it was fun and it didn’t take itself too seriously.

I could live a million years and still never understand why people like Jensen Ackles... when I see his face, I know whatever I'm watching is about to get stupid

Watched this one in College with my roommates for Jensen Ackled and we greatly entertained ourselves by calling out 3D! Everytime a shot that was blatantly 3D took place. Lol

This remake just gets on my nerves. It’s not even because it’s bad or it is a remake of a great slasher, it just does so much that rubs me the wrong way. It looks terrible, the characters are irritating, and it just has no atmosphere. It’s bad in an irritating way instead of a fun or boring way.

While I've enjoyed the original for decades, it is pretty cheesy with some really over the top acting. I saw the remake in the theater and did enjoy the 3D aspect, despite the gimmick. The red/blue glasses with the blu-ray is NOT the same as the theatrical experience. Overall, I prefer the remake. It's better performed and doesn't have the low budget cheese factor, and some of the twists and changes were fine with me. The original has that of-the-day teenage feel where the remake feels more adult, if you will. Although, the motel gratuitous nudity scene was a bit low-brow. Yes, Axel is a cheating dirtbag so no love loss there, but I was rooting for Tom from the start anyway, even after the reveal. I do watch this one more often than the original.

It may be lesser than the original, but Jensen Ackles makes up for it…make of my statement what you will.

I just finished watching this tonight, for the first time (and I’ve not seen the original). Was it dumb as hell? Sure, but I had so much fun with the ridiculous kills. Also, I thought the opening sequence was cool, lol. Guess we can’t agree on everything!

I have the movie both 3D and not 3D and I didn't watch the 3D so yeah I am not crying about that lol they should have just had Harry Warden come back somehow and made him the biggest threat in the movie. that would have been a better story of seeing how he wasn't really dead fans from the first movie would of love that lol anyways this is the one time the killer gets away and never have another movie to continue on lol
