Small correction at the start. Abraham moved around and was referred to as the Habara or Hebrew (the one to pass across) several times. You can find this if you read the texts in Hebrew. It didn't refer to a river crossing, just to pass across from one area to an other. In English he might have been referred to as the great traveller.

I also read that when Nebuchadnezzar sacked Israel and destroyed the Temple, he took the whole of Israel captive and held them in Babylon. I wouldn't say Abraham adopted the Aramaic tongue. He either already spoke it or spoke a related language. Abraham's stay in Aram was likely with his brother and their extended family. They were shepherds, they would've spoke the same language. Rebekah is called Aramean because that is where her family settled, in Paddan Aram (modern day Syria). She is the granddaughter of Abraham's brother Nahor and Milcah, who was the daughter of Haran, Abraham's other brother. Isaac is first cousins with her father Bethuel. Jacob too married his cousins, Leah and Rachel were daughters of Laban, his mother Rebekah's brother. In reality they are all from the same stock as Abraham.
