Thank you Jason, and all you other keen eyed Godzilla fans. This is what I get for only focusing on 1998 Zilla. This is indeed a Mecha Godzilla reference. ...Strangely great timing, right?? Quick update here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uT_Zd-VlGt8.html
No one discusses how metal Sonic in the tube looks different from the one we get as an unlockable. He even FLY in Amy’s flashback during her first cutscene
Man can I shout you out in a RU-vid short? It has some EXACT copies from Mecha Godzilla. Good god dude I made a whole video and you just figured it all out in one eyefull.
Considering in Sonic CD during the race with Metal Sonic when you win his face plate gets smashed into the wall when crossing the finish line. So maybe the reason Metal is in the tube to be repaired and the other one would be sent out to battle Sonic until Metal is fully repaired and upgraded as we see on Sonic Heroes
I love Mecha doppelgängers of my favorite characters and monsters, and as a, Godzilla fan. I never saw the difference until I typed up sonic Godzilla crossover and this video pop up.
My Theory: the developers wants to do a tag team boss. Metal being the speed and Mecha being power. I guess they scrapped the idea. The model were made, kind odd they didn't use it.
You just prefer the S3K Mecha Sonic because of Super Mario Bros Z, don't you? XD Though don't get me wrong, I really do love the S3K design as well, but I like to think this "Mecha Soniczilla" looks just as good
I wonder if this unnamed robot was actually meant to be Metal's sparring partner; a robot designed to emulate Sonic's speed, strength, and hand-to-hand combat abilities as closely as possible so as to test to see if other creations were ready for a confrontation with the real deal.
@@grigoriyivanov9742 nope, not at all. Metal, a flying thing can't manoeuvre as easily as Sonic, who uses his legs, torso, arms and etc to change directions and etc
I like to think of this character as a cut boss, and when they finally scrapped him they were like "Well we already have a model, so why not throw it in as a little cameo.". Or based off what you guys said, maybe he was gonna be the original villain of the game until they made Chaos, or at least a secondary villain. Maybe even an earlier design for Gamma, because all of that sounds much more interesting than just a prop.
@@joemama8018 Even though he is just a reference to Mecha Godzilla I'm sure that he was supposed to be used in the game somewhere, other than some lab.
That fan game was what created my head canon into calling the Silver Sonic from Sonic 2 8-bit “Silver Sonic MK-I”, the Silver Sonic from Sonic 2 16-bit “Silver Sonic MK-II”, and the Silver Sonic from Sonic Adventure “Silver Sonic MK-III”.
@@Mechasonicrocks and Silver Sonic was like a whole foot taller than Sonic too, with red dot eyes. Also this robot Sonic in SA isn't blue, he's black/grey. He isn't a match for any existing robot Sonic, and seems more of a re-imagining of both
If no one knows who designed it, there's a slim chance it's some cut model from Xtreme given it *is* lower poly than most SA models. On top of that SA1 is no stranger to reusing Saturn models and the Xtreme boss engine WAS extremely advanced for what it was
In a lot of ways, in the archie comics I think he was a victim of trying to adapt the stories of a different universe into another where they weren't enitrely compatable. It just feels like they tried to force station square into the comics due to obligation when previously the comic continuity was established in a way where it was hard to justify in a fully satisfying way.
I'm just incredibly glad that Archie sonic isnt canon because that shit was terrible for most of its existence. Most of it's original designs looked like furry deviantart OCs and the plotlines were so stupidly bonkers it was like reading riverdale
@@backwardsbandit8094 you see you say that, but I haven't enjoyed this series nearly as much ever since the Archie Comics were canceled. The games stopped caring about story telling so long ago the archie series was the only thing I had to look forward to narratively. You see I'm glad the Archie Comics aren't canon to the games, but for a very different reason. For me it's because never wanted them to be tainted by how fast and loose Sega treats the game continuity. Now that the comics follow the game continuity more so I've lost interest. At this point I'm convinced Shadow doesn't even have a canon backstory anymore.
@@BlackTheBerserker I think you'll be glad then that it's been confirmed that some of the writers of the current comics, that carried over from Archie, have been tasked with writing the story for the next modern sonic game! They have to work with certain constraints in the new comics, but they do such a good job within them that I feel that the new comics, despite having so much working against them, immensely improve the story of the games for me, at least. It's not perfect, but it's some pretty quality stuff imo and shouldn't be written off entirely.
0:20 I hate to be that guy, but Eggman actually didn’t make “Cyber-Sonic.” He was created by a group of sentient androids with DNA samples from sonic the hedgehog himself. (It’s a long story.)
So glad to see Chaomix popping off so hard that he's able to team up with the great Game Apologist himself I adore both of your channels and the content u guys make I feel like every comment I make on this channel is talking more about the content creator himself and not the actual video sorry about that I just love spreading my appreciation for these videos
I was disappointed this version of mecha Sonic never got to be a boss or something in the games, but he does have a cool legacy in the comic. In that canon Robotnik created the Death Egg Silver Sonic by reverse engineering and upgrading Sonic's robotocized form, then mk 2 here was an upgrade of that, and later on we'd get one more upgrade with mk3 who was basically a Sonic shaped TANK, never letting us forget the greatness of issue 39, which some still insist was the best issue of the series run.
I like to imagine an "Episode Metal" to Sonic Adventure as an epilogue to the main game in which Metal Sonic fought against this robot to see who is the definitive sonic mech, Metal or Mecha.
I don’t really mind that this robot exists but it didn’t have much of a purpose AT ALL and is just something the sega made to put as a Easter egg that would really never been used again
The design of Mecha Sonic in Sonic 3 and Knuckles has a really narrow visor that looks impractical, like he wouldn't be able to see anything slightly above him that he isn't directly looking at, such as, say, a hedgehog that is spinning at a 75 degree angle through the air. That brow protrudes outwards more than the other Sonic robots and would definitely narrow his vertical field of view, unless he had extra sensors in his ears or something.
I'm enjoying this vid so far, but I'm wondering why chaomix sounds like he's only coming in through my right ear...? You sound even on both sides, so I don't think it's my headphones
I always just assumed that this was just... Mecha Sonic. The one guarding the Death Egg in Sonic 2 on the Genesis/Mega Drive. All the design principles are there, gray/silver outer shell, bulky armor, wheelie greaves for feet, bulky fingers. It just seemed to be an updated arstyle; like how Amy, Metal and Sonic were portrayed in their "Adventure" era designs when Amy was flashing back to the events of Sonic CD.
Yeah, it just looks like an updated design. Might've been a scrapped boss, since they definitely put some effort into it. But I look at the two, and I'm like, "Yup, same robot."
I like the idea of this being a Silver Sonic Mk 2, it shares a fair amount of elements with him. An old experiment abandoned in favor of a more speed focused redesign leading to Mecha and later Metal. Something Eggy kept around in case he ever wanted to return to the more tanky concept which he kinda does with the E-series.
This robot Sonic was just as impactful with me playing Sonic Adventure new as a kid, so much in fact, that some years later I attempted to make a 3D fan game using the model. I was too inexperience & the tools I had were to archaic, but I definitely went with the tank-like shooter vibe he gave off as well.
What? "Mystery Mecha"? Game Apologist and Chaomix crossover? Count me in! I would prefer this Mystery Mecha to be a separate robot from Silver and Mecha Sonic. I'd love to see all three of them in an epic shot together (Dang. I have to draw that now don't I?). And maybe they can give Mystery Mecha a similar storyline to Shard from the Archie comics, that'd be pretty sweet. Anyways, I've really enjoyed learning more about these obscure characters! I hope Mecha Madness isn't done yet. But if it is, I'm looking forward to more videos from both you :) And if you're interested, even though I know you won't talk about Metal Sonic now, I wanted to share a video I had made exploring the potential in a lonelier interpretation of the character: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kJ0ccrlQuA0.html I think Metal and the other Sonic robots have so much potential that remains untouched. It's a shame we haven't see more of them.
I think an honourable mention should go to The Wax, from Sonic Paradox, who is one of, if not, the only fans to have used Silver Sonic II outside of game canon in his animations: Dark Chaos 1 and 2.
But Neo Metal Sonic is just a more powerful form of regular Metal Sonic as shown turning back into Metal Sonic after being defeated in Heroes. Metal became Neo under a completely different unknown way as it's never explained how he obtained that form
@@robonaught I meant that since Neo Metal has the ability tobabsorb data and get stronger, like a gizoid, that perhaps he absorbed the Mecha Sonics, Silver Sonic, and any other "inferior beings".
Sorry I was late I was observing the birds when I found a silver Robert in a pickle jar And than I started theorising about its origins I found *e g g*
Ah Chaomix. Literally found out about him like 3 days ago, neato coincidence. Oh and I just got done playing some Adventure, and was in this room with Amy lol
I used to think it was the mecha sonic from Sonic 2 but seems not. Looking at its design now I think it could have been another body for E-101 Beta rather than the MarkII design. It kinda seems similar with the 2 gun hands and that would have been a crazy twist.
Here is the list of robotic doppelganger versions of Sonic the Hedgehog: 1. Mecha Sonic Mark 1 (8-Bit Sonic 2) 2. Mecha Sonic Mark 2 (16-Bit Sonic 2) 3. Metal Sonic (Sonic CD). 4. Mecha Sonic Mark 3 (Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic 3 Complete). And 5. Unnamed Sonic Robot (Sonic Adventure 1 and Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut).
the reason Sonic 2 Mecha and Sonic 3 Mecha aren’t with Metal and Mecha 3 is because they were destroyed Sonic 2 Mecha did reappear in Pocket Adventure tho so it might be Mecha 3 idk
Please tell me you'll do a video on Mecha Sonic Model no. 29 (aka Rocket Metal) from the arcade game "Sonic the Fighters"? It only appeared in that game, in the demo/attract sequence!
I think my only nitpick about this video is, I kinda think Neo-Metal Sonic's design is the best Robot Sonic design. I can agree that Sonic 3 and Knuckles Mecha Sonic is the best 2d Robot Sonic design, but I like Neo-Metal Sonic's design more.
First comment cuz I always comment before the video's over like a doofus but a. Chaomix is a brilliant name, and b. I have never seen a mod that lets you play as this character and I can't believe I've never thought of that
I believe that the canon name of silver sonic from sonic 2 is actually robo sonic, at least that's what he is called in sonic's level on Lego dimensions. I know that Lego dimensions can hardly be called canonical but I'm pretty sure it is the only time he's name was stated at all in a game as far as I know.
honestly i think he was made to clear up any confusion over the silver > mecha > metal and for that they would of needed a model and mecha didnt have a 3d reference yet so they made their own
Hey let's not downplay the impact of the E-100 Series. As we have Omega, which many fans theorize is an upgrade of Gamma. A theory I choose to keep in my head cannon.
Hmmm, recent merchandise has finally confirmed that there is no "Silver Sonic" but that the robot from Sonic 2 is in fact called, "Mecha Sonic" and the robot from Sonic and Knuckles is an upgraded Mecha Sonic. Since both designs were drastically different, it's safe to assume that this is Mecha Sonic MKIII.
