In this video, I go over the history of springlock technology/suits throughout the continuities of Five Night's at Freddy's (The Silver Eyes trilogy & games). This is a video on the lore (FNaF lore) regarding spring locks and their suits, as well as a theory (FNaF theory, FNaF theories) on the origin of the most mysterious suits, including FNaF 3's "temporary costumes".

a part of this feels more like head cannon like when do we ever see more evidance of the the "first springlocks" i think that will forever be a mystrey

I agree, it is a theory. William says that the blue suit Carlton is in was one of Henry’s first springlocks, and we also hear about another green one. So, I am theorizing that these were THE two first suits. It is possible that there were others before these, but given the evidence we have, it’s my most logical explanation :)

I completely agree, that’s why I asked that question at the end of the video-was it Henry’s pride that allowed this reckless endeavor to become a reality? Did his competition with William push him to throw caution to the wind in order to trump his apprentice’s creations? Maybe a topic for a future video :)

Personal theory of mine that the nightmare animatronics were based on spring lock suits that weren’t the real ones but were nightmare versions of what they had seen in William and Henry’s workshop, that were the actual first ever models of the Fazbear gang that were intended to be used at the first Freddy Fazbear’s but went unused due to how dangerous they were, and so were scrapped so Henry made what would become the withereds. The designs of the nightmares if you give them a closer look they interestingly show the endoskeletons as almost cagey looking like a person could fit in it, and the neck joints are pushed back as it would allow space for a person’s head to be.

Something that isn't really relevant to this video but vaguely connected: I can't help but wonder how accurate Elizabeth's memories are. After all, memory is easily warped, and that's shown time and time again in the novels. Hell, Elizabeth's memories even show her with brown hair, though we're pretty sure it wasn't. It makes one wonder how much she remembers correctly. Her memory of William slapping her, in particular bothers me. The fact that she had to specify "Not your daddy, mine" stands out to me, along with the brunette young Elizabeth and the appearance of Circus Baby in the memories. How much are her and Charlie's memories blurring? Are her experiences altering how she remembers things? If she knows a more aggressive, temperamental William at the point of her showing these memories, is it possible that her memories changed to reflect that? Or could it have been a recycled memory from Charlie? William in the games was presumably used to Elizabeth hanging around, based off of the voice lines we're given. Surely if he were so tempermental to smack his daughter over trying to show him a picture, she wouldn't have been so eager to ask him over and over to see Circus Baby. Or perhaps that's just my desire to put William and Henry on level footing.

Abuser IS complicated, Kids often crave affection from their abusive parent and are really good at repressing memories of them hitting them or well Just act Like they did cause they can Not really understand what IS going on. Elisabeth clinging to william despite him having Hit her sadly makes Sense. The fact He Hit her for wanting to Show him a picture and her wanting to Show him the picturw anyways falls into that. Kids are compleatly dependend on their parent and despe are forntheir Love especially If ITS hard to come by, her whole trying to make him proud, finding some way to please him fits right into how a Kid acts that IS in denial of their parent being a theat to them . . .c.

I think the temporary costumes mentioned by phone guy could be the animal mascots found in the Mimic’s lair in Ruin, seeing as they don’t really match Freddy’s and have no reason to be there. This I think adds further credence to my theory that the FFPS location was a repurposed Fredbears.

Good video. Something I'd like to point out is that the line where Charile says "Sometimes they were costumes or sometimes they were put onto the animatronics" is actually an error or a strang detail that gets contridicted. In The Silver Eyes, it is shown that the endoskeleton is always inside the suit and just held back by springlocks. In The Twisted Ones, it is explained by Charlie that the endoskeleton is never removed from the suit and is just held back by springlocks. In The Fourth Closet, it is once again shown that springock suits always have their endoskeletons inside them. William had the endoskeleton removed from his body, he even refers to the endoskeleton as "Springtrap". So the books have clearly condridicted this, but it isn't just the books. FNaF 3 Phone Guy says that the endoskeleton parts are held back by the springlocks on the inner edges of the suit. And in the ending to the FNaF movie, William is in the safe room and he's trying to lift his arm. His arm makes robotic sounds as he lifts it, until it goes too high and locks up. It's like the endoskeleton can't handle the extra weight of his body, or it has limited movement. I love the video though. I just wanted to give this as well.

I tried to make those suits part of three bigger discussions, so I’d loop back every now and again when they were relevant. For example, those suits help us solve FNaF 3’s temporary costumes because of their location and convenience, but also Sister Location’s mystery springlock suit because of their description and appearance. I did intentionally split the video up like this, and I hope it didn’t seem too repetitive :)

Very well made video and congrats! Ive noticed a long time a go that the nightmare animatronics have 5 fingers instead of four, possibly implying that every character had a springlock counterpart at some point? also its interesting that in fnaf one GF is still around but is now animatronic only.

I think I misunderstood Charlie's line about the first costumes sometimes being just suits and sometimes being put on endos, I thought that was because Charlie didn't quite know what the springlocks were

🎵given Carlton a suit that's spring loaded, Charlie whacked Dave out and freed Carlton, then a yellow bear arrived to the party.🎵I couldn't resist i like that aaron fraser nash song.😄 ps. great video about those springlocks, but i always wondered couldn't henry have found a safer way to make those suit wearable without the possibility of bleeding, and slow death.

Not necessarily, but I’m using it as a reference to consider how the missing details in the games may have looked. Since we don’t get a ton of information in the games, I like to use the books to supplement the unknown, but I try to do so loosely and fairly :)
