Stacks of high-quality Roman remains have been found in a rural field near an ice cream research centre, including a huge collection of coins. It points to a high-status building, possibly a villa. But it's far from any road, and geophysics doesn't come up with anything definite, apart from a large square ditch.

I got so excited when he said they had A WHOLE WEEK to search that field. Then he said just kidding, we've got three days.

not sure if Tony's comments are scripted or off the cuff but his constant negativity gets really annoying at times...25minutes of him complaining already. One of the least enjoyable episodes because of his negativity throughout. That site probably needed a couple of weeks of solid effort to find the 'villa', the reconstruction at the end was ridiculous, they had evidence of less than half what they showed and two storey buildings leave no definite evidence in the ground (except for one I can remember where it looked like a staircase was found)
@maytagmark2171

I think his perceived negativity is just to create some drama due to the lack of the results they were hoping for. A way to create some excitement.

He was so negative in this episode that I stopped watching. In general, he hasn't been as genial in the later episodes, but he was downright obnoxious in this one.

We control our aging with our Thoughts. The "Law of Attraction" is far more at the center of Everything in our Reality, Universe, World, Self. He manages his Thoughts well, he looked and still looks great. His key is: being active in his Passion.
@IHateThisHandleSystem
@IHateThisHandleSystem 2 года назад
@@bethbartlett5692 The "Law of Attraction" is nothing more than a modern rehashing of concepts found in the ancient Mystery Schools. You cannot manifest reality by your thoughts alone. Humans are not gods. Basically, I couldn't disagree with you more. P.S. I do agree that his staying active played a large role.

What IF it was just a simple farmer whom came into money and built his farm house up and his status changed to where he ended up moving
@tankgirl2074
@tankgirl2074 2 года назад
it was exactly that. First place was an Iron Age round house. Then, as more wealth came in, they abandoned that and built a timber framed house. The final step was to build a large framed house... possibly villa. The information was in the show but the field director couldn't see it. Mick would have figured it out early on.

Probably the worst example of archaeological field direction Time Team ever did. Neil & Ben... just total disasters. It took amateur archaeologists and the rest of the crew to really figure out what was going on. As to the configuration of the so called villa? Just speculation. Only good point is showing the early Iron Age-Roman connection of the early 200's, then a construction of a timber frame house (not work shed as Tony mentions), then finally a larger house / possible villa. Sadly, none of the interpretation Tony or Neil gives says that. Very sad.

Sir Anthony is never satisfied unless he is constantly finding mosaic floors, giant buildings and enormous walls. Tony seems to not understand that before there were large Roman buildings, people lived in wood structures which burn down or decay when demolished and buried in acidic earth. Sir Anthony has done wonderful things in his lifetime, but archeology is not one of them. He was a good comedian and had worked hard for people suffering from dementia and Altzheimers.
