If you think about it the Ukrainians were in the wrong for hiding in the grandmas house

I liked the ending because it appears as if Kiril will shoot the general, however instead of revenge he just takes the photo, showing he's more interested in pursuit of life over revenge, the lesson the general didn't learn.
