During the First Age, Ulmo, ruler of all waters was the most willing to intervene in the aid of elves and men against Angband. He sent dreams to Finrod and Turgon to search for places where secret havens may be built against Morgoth, and he saved Elwing when she cast herself with a silmaril into the ocean. Sauron and his servants were likely aware of this. The Bruinen`s swelling is possibly Ulmo`s doing as the witchking destroyed a blade of perhaps great significance to the West. Basically, the Nine were fearful of Ulmo`s Madladery!

Loved this, however the only discrepancy that I noticed was that Celebrimbor made the 3 elven rings of power, otherwise, they would have been thralls of Sauron without warning while Sauron made the Dwarven and Kings of Men's rings. Of course Celebrimbor's instincts made the three rings and did not have Sauron's influence in them, but nonetheless were tied to the One Ring. Celebrimbor did die by Sauron's forces, but it was not in vain.

'Yet now under the Lord of Barad-dûr the most fell of all his captains is already master of your outer walls,' said Gandalf. 'King of Angmar long ago, Sorcerer, Ringwraith, Lord of the Nazgûl, a spear of terror in the hand of Sauron, shadow of despair.' 'Then, Mithrandir, you had a foe to match you,' said Denethor. 'For myself, I have long known who is the chief captain of the hosts of the Dark Tower. Is this all that you have returned to say? Or can it be that you have withdrawn because you are overmatched?' Pippin trembled, fearing that Gandalf would be stung to sudden wrath, but his fear was needless. 'It might be so,' Gandalf answered softly. 'But our trial of strength is not yet come. And if words spoken of old be true, not by the hand of man shall he fall, and hidden from the Wise is the doom that awaits him.'

Interesting point, Tolkien says not that the Witch King not that he died, but that 'He was never seen again in that age of men'... Given that the 4th age starts a few years later, I suspect he would have been the next 'Dark Lord' in a diminishing cycle, as Sauron was to Morgoth.
@bundayeti
@bundayeti 4 года назад
If the 4th Age was the beginning of the Age of Men, then he probably returned after that in a time when much had been forgotten. Despite being even lesser than Sauron, without the eldest of Elves (some elves did remain albeit diminished, like Thranduil) he may have ended up being a 'Dark Lord' for even longer than the previous.

IMHO The Witch King was none other than Tar-Ciryatan , the 12th King of Numenor. Sauron lured him with the First Ring of Men because he hated the Numenoreans for intervening on the side of the Elves during the Celebrimbor War . Sauron swore vengeance on Numenor..what better way than to ensnare the future King of Numenor sometime between 1700-1800 SA. Remember that it was 1800 SA that the "Shadow fell on Numenor" and the character of Tar-Atanamir the Great..whose father became the greatest of the Ulairi.
@LoreOfTheRingsYT
@LoreOfTheRingsYT 4 года назад
I have read this theory before, and while it is interesting it's highly unlikely. I love this theory, but nah. The shadow that appeared on the island of Númenor was caused by Morgoth's ring.
@MasterBombadillo
@MasterBombadillo 4 года назад
First of all, we have notes that Tar-Ciryatan died, which leaves him out of any run of being a Nazgul. Secondly, if Tar-Ciryatan was one of the Ulari, why did he give up the scepter of Numenor? He ruled Numenor. One of the Nine Rings would've made him immortal. Sauron could've began corrupting Numenor directly through the King, and his influence over the island would've been greater than under Ar Pharazon.
@AerYdmyg
@AerYdmyg Год назад
The Witch king was Er Murazor, he was the first black Numenorean and most loyal to Sauron thus he was the first to receive one of the Nine rings of power that Sauron passed to the men who would become RingWraiths 500 years from receiving them. He became a lord of Umbar and an advisor to either the King that took the scepter early from his father and died with it refusing to pass it in life or his sons.
@donaldbadowski290
@donaldbadowski290 4 года назад
The Seven and the Nine were basically the same. The way I figure it (joke), Sauron gave seven of the rings he got from Celebrimbor to the Dwarf lords, because they were seven Dwarf houses. That way he could control the Dwarves through their lords. But why give nine to Men? Because that's all he had left. If Sauron had gotten twenty rings, we might have had thirteen Nazgul. Or Sauron might have kept some for himself. We don't know how many Celebrimbor actually created. We just don't even know how many, if any Sauron kept. We just know that he handed sixteen of them out. Also, Celebrimbor died under torcher by Sauron, mostly likely to get information on the whereabouts of the Rings of Power. In this he must have been only partially successful, because as Galadriel said to Frodo, he suspected which Elves had the Three, but was not sure. Other rings of power Celebrimbor might have given away to other Elves who disposed of them.
@Makkaru112
@Makkaru112 4 года назад
I recall the elven rings legitimately were taken away so they were not bound to Sauron. Either way Galadriel knew not to use it much or grow too big for notice would be put on her and he had trouble locating her. He fears her like he feared Luthien but mainly due to his battle with her brother Finrod Felagund.
@donaldbadowski290
@donaldbadowski290 4 года назад
@@Makkaru112 , the Three were not just taken away. Sauron never touched them. So they were not embedded with his evil. But the Three were still bound to the One, whether Sauron touched them or not. Apparently Sauron was aware of the Three the moment he put on the One, and very likely knew immediately that he could not account for them. And therefore, Celebrimbor was making rings behind his back.

I think a lot of the casual movies viewers dont grasp that the Black Riders are the men being given rings of power seen in the intro to The Fellowship of the Ring or that the winged nazgul are the same riders that were destroyed in the flooding of the Bruinen River by Elrond to save Frodo who had bee stabbed by a Morgul blade.

@supertiger1979

As far as I understand it the one ring gives power according to the power of the bearer. Plus it would take time for a new bearer of the one to began to use it's power. A more powerful being such as Gandalf or even Aragorn if they had possessed it I'm sure would have been able to control the 9. Frodo besides using it to turn invisible never even used it to see the thoughts of the others...Galadriel herself tells him you have not tried when she is asked.

@KyleJordanGaming
@KyleJordanGaming 4 года назад
Originally, yeah. When he was reincarnated or whatever as Gandalf the White, he was specifically sent back to take on a more direct role helping to lead the final War of the Ring, and he was definitely significantly stronger. But even then, I’m pretty sure he was still well below his ‘true’ power. As one of the strongest and wisest Maiar demigods, roughly on the level of Sauron himself, plus bearing 1 of the 3 Elven Rings (Narya, the Ruby Ring of Fire), Glamdring, one of the strongest artifact weapons in ME, and... I assume his wizard staff was pretty powerful... yeah, so all things considered, I imagine at full power, he probably could’ve singlehandedly wrecked the entire army at The Black Gate...

@@KyleJordanGaming I guess it depends on whether Gandalf has access to his full powers at all times or whether Eru limited it, as he is a Maia with his own right to life and not to be manipulated by Eru or Manwe etc, not that Manwe has power to limit Gandalf's. The dwarves weren't enslaved by their Rings, but their worst qualities were inflamed by them, allowing for the warping or destruction of individuals or relationships among peoples. I'm frankly surprised that only 3 of the Nazgul were Numenoreans, given his part in their decline and fall. The line of kings was never broken, as it continued in the north under Elrond's guidance and protection. It would have been interesting to see how Aragorn assuming the throne from Denethor's Stewardship would have gone...not well, I'm sure.

Could be some type of Big goal i guess that could take a few months if not years but it would be awesome to see a summary narrated and with some simple(?) animations of the fellowship and its broken parts moving on the map while the narration is going.

I appreciate the context- should have been a little more centered on the “ Greed “ aspect, but from most mythology- it always has the Moral Lesson Of a person Being TOO Self-Absorbed & Prideful-Boisterous Of One’s Own Self-Appointed Greatness in their own achievements, rather than how they could Freely benefit others. Maybe that’s why I like and appreciate Gandalf- he always seemed Humbled & kind of Embarrassed by the True Power he COULD have welded.

@@KTChamberlain I think that is the point of the Nazgul though, they wanted everything and lost everything, even their own names. @@LoreOfTheRingsYT once the one ring is destroyed all other rings loose their power. That's why Galadriel says all will fade and I shall go west.
