Why The NBA Currently Has a Coaching Problem That Isn't Being Talked About Enough.
The NBA has had a coaching problem for a long time now but over the years it's only gotten worse. Coaches are being fired at a higher rate than ever the leashes for them are only getting smaller. Even after winning NBA Championships and Coach of The Year trophies, coaches are still being fired. Players are being held less and less accountable while the players are getting away with more than they ever have. #nba #basketball #nbanews #coach #coaching #CourtsideChase

Don’t forget about the GM’s. The GM’s have been giving money away for years and settling teams back with bad decisions. The agents ate their lunch and are now getting hired as GM’s. Of course not all of the GM’s are bad decision makers for NBA teams but it seems that most are. Charles Barkley was spot on regarding a team owners money being given away.

100%. Most GM's hold everyone accountable except for themselves and the people around them. Everyone knows their coach but once we start talking about GM's and front offices it starts to get more concealed and they want to keep it that way.

I just watched a video essay on Allen Iverson and him and Coach Larry Brown clashing, and both dropping the "it's him or me" to the 76ers front office. Bearing in mind that Iverson was the only star on the roster, the 76ers still backed Brown and tried to trade AI. Funnily enough the result was that it pulled Iverson's head in, made him a better player, and the team had a much better season the year after.

People buy tickets to see the stars not the coaches. You don't see anyone showing up to games in Phil Jackson outfits. All the money in the NBA comes from the fans.

The Bulls didn't have a dynasty because they let Jordan lead the team. It's an important lesson that we learned from Isiah Thomas, Michael Jordan, and Magic Johnson, great players don't always make good coaches. Your point about how coaches always get blamed for the mistakes of management I think goes to the point that MJ should have learned to respect what Jerry Krause did. Coaching professionals is tougher than college, you can't treat the players like they're kids, but you also can't let all-stars take the lead.
@CourtsideChase

Are you talking about the 96 Bulls? Cuz having two threepeat is pretty dynastic
@CourtsideChase
@CourtsideChase 12 дней назад
@@somedude15231 I think he's saying it more so takes the whole organization to become a dynasty and that they aren't built with just 1 or 2 star players. Jordan lead them on the court, Phil Jackson put together a gameplan and Krause was the one that helped put the whole team together. Bulls were definitely a dynasty and it was the same thing with the warriors. Players, coaches and front office were all built together perfectly which is what really creates a dynasty
@XandateOfHeaven
@XandateOfHeaven 12 дней назад
@@somedude15231 I realize my wording is confusing. I mean that they have a dynasty because Phil Jackson got Jordan to buy into team play

5:02 They traded their soul for Kevin Durant. Bradley Beal was literally an aging Chris Paul and Landry Shamet.
@CourtsideChase
@CourtsideChase 4 дня назад
True but they took on even more money by trading for Bradley Beal. Plus they owe Beal money until like 2027. Kevin Durant's is worth his contract in my opinion in a win now scenario. They should have gotten rid of Paul's contract without taking on an even bigger one

dont feel too bad for frank vogel my dude, he gets to kick it and live his life at the speed of chillax for the next four years while getting paid the remaining four years on his contract, so he doesnt have to deal with prima donna players like kd, travel for more than half the year, living out of a hotey, while having to also coach woth the expectation he win rings, one wouldnt even be enoug.... instead he can cancun it up and roll around in the stacks of cash he will still be paid if he wants... doesnt sound all that bad to me, work one year, get paid millions for five while sipping white russians on my new dragonfly 32 evolution trimaran, watching the nannerz of the current nba on satellite. not too shabby indeed...

@BlueGrovyle
@BlueGrovyle 8 дней назад
@@JP-ks7ey I get your point and your intent, but it goes both ways. "Coaches can only do so much" is something I naturally agree with, but in the context of your comment, it sounds like an excuse to be a bad coach because you're either being hyperbolic by saying "never", you don't blame _anyone_ at all-not even the players-or you think genuinely bad coaching isn't an issue. "Coaches can only do so much" should be used as a justification for never giving them credit as much as it should be for never blaming them, which is not at all, in my opinion.
