Only problem is they don’t have a guy. You can win without a guy like the Celtics did but it’s very hard. They’d probably need atleast 2 more all star level players next to Lauri
Its a diffrent kind of Utah, we always liked the long careers like boozer or AK47, but its a quicker kind of league now, the fast you get guys in and out the less value they lose in that time, they have a competitive team because the players knows they could be traded very fast, for someone better, hats off to Danny Ainge for runnin a mf buisness!
@@Unitas19Finally! Someone gets it! It is true that the Jazz have not won a championship, but they have been one of the most consistent teams over the last 30+ years.
Not sure its possible for an All Star to be the "most underrated" player... but I understand the lack of any buzz around some of our small market franchise players. We'll see how much (or little) respect Tyrese Haliburton gets after his first playoff run. Lauri hasn't had one of those yet.
Nah. We’ve only seen him like this for two years on a 500 Utah team. I absolutely think they should keep him. Do I think he’s allstar caliber? Yes, absolutely but I’d be worried about him as the number 2. Like say OKC or SA. That scares me, I hope they trade Lauri to the east, the league needs more parity not 65 win Celtics waiting all healthy and ready after the west teams beat the shit out of each other and are beat before they start the finals. East needs more talent. Congrats to NY ( except Isaiah ), and Philly and Orlando!
Thanks for covering the jazz! It feels like its hard to find content on my team outside of jazz fans, and I like to hear a neutral opinion from an outsider
Context matters, mikal is just worth a lot for the knicks specifically since he’s kinda the last piece of a contender (although celtics might just be better we will see next year) and fits with the team, can be a first or third option and defend well. Fits the knicks playstyle and vibe and they are hoping to not need picks.
5-6 years from now this team will be a contender, if they haven’t already made It to the finals. Keyonte George, Isaiah Collier, Cody Williams, Taylor Hendricks, and ELITE role players to support that core ??? I don’t think Lauri is going to be in Utah at their peak, but Danny Ainge will undoubtedly maximize the return for him (if he gets traded down the line). The Jazz are going to do “the process” the right way.
Thanks for finally pointing out the truth with Lauri, Utah and Ainge. Hes going no where, and the media with GS and SAC, SAS thinking any of their trade ideas are even in the realm to pry the Finnisher away is disgusting! Awful trade idea.
While you praised Keyonte George. I watch almost all games games last season, untill trade deadline. Then i watched maybe half. Keyonte made million TOs and was totally useless defender. I doubt can he ever be starter in team what actually dont try lose games. If that is future star, great. But he is rookie, maybe he get better and can be on the floor when team actually try win games. Its different if look only one end of the floor. Example Trae Young is very good in offence end, but he never be winner because he cant defend at all. Keyonte may be like Trae unless he really start make progress how he defend. And limit TOs. Also, i agree that jazz have some young talent. However, we dont know yet who can be positive player when comes time to actually win as much team can win. None of these young guys has proof themself in nba level yet. Yes, some good plays we have seen from them. But thats all.
Actually this guy does know ball. There has literally never been an NBA player with shooting splits like Keyonte on the volume he took tbat went on to be any good. Literally zero. He shot 39 percent from the field thats horrendous. Even 43 percent is "meh" and hes a mile from that. And yes the turnovers and defense were terrible. All correct. So much so I am no longer sure Will Hardy has any clue how to coach defense, they couldnt deal with a cross-screen properly if their lives depended on it.
Also i doubt a bit this jazz rebuild. They actually need to draft perfectly because Ainge cant get anyone really good to come in utah. He has trying to get virtually everyone top players last season and failed every time. He will see utah is not boston. Jazz need to be perfect so they can draft couple superstars. Unlikely, very unlikely.
Ahh yes a “masterclass” in which they have an “amazing core” that can’t make the playoffs Lauri is on the last year and sexton 2 years n clarkson so their gonna get a fraction of the value they coulda got from trading them earlier and have had higher picks in this draft they have like 8 guards already Isiah and keyonte backcourt will not work in the future Kyle filip is easily manipulated and they got lucky with Williams their draft was only graded so highly because the guys were highly ranked last year and they can maybe be as good as projected? Probably not considering the team has zero direction free sexton let him hoop sum where where they know what their doing 😂😂 shoulda traded everyone a year or 2 ago n they coulda been okc
Wemby stop everyone. He can defend 3 players at same time... Spurs will be champion very soon if Wemby stays healthy. And Pop too, he start to be quite old.
i saw one single guy saying that the jazz draft was terrible. i looked through his videos and he wanted his team to draft the guys the the jazz drafted. hmm salty much?
I love this video, it is rare to hear positive things about Utah. I am just nervous that Cody Williams will request, or get traded before he reaches his prime.
I'm a Jazz fan. The very last thing that I would call this build is a masterclass. They did do very well in the 2024 draft because they got very lucky. But overall it's been a complete disaster. And they're likely to end all hope of fixing it when they give Markkanen the max this offseason.
If you think it’s been a “complete disaster” you’re either too impatient or haven’t been paying attention. Committing to a ground-level rebuild in the NBA like this usually takes 5+ years to see meaningful results. Player development is a long process. And don’t forget all the picks Utah still has at its disposal.
Keyonte is going to be a star…. I’m a Jazz fan and he reminds me a lot of Donovan Mitchell. I don’t think he will end up as good as Mitchell, but pretty close!
That part! In Ainge we trust... Trades away The Truth and KG in 2013, uses the picks from that trade to draft and develop JB, Derrick White and JT 4 and 5 years later, uses more picks and assets from that trade to move pieces and bring in KP and Jrue a few years after that... Rings in Boston in 2024... Rebuilds aren't easy or quick but if there's a single human I want at the wheel for a rebuild, it's Danny boy.
rebuilding masterclass just to miss the playoffs/playin every season. literally in franchise purgatory. not bad enough to actually acquire championship winning talent. not good enough to compete in the west. obviously not a masterclass
As a duke fan i don’t think his game translates I hope I’m wrong but watching Luka Garza struggle to get minute makes me thing flip will have a similar fate
Yeah to be honest this video is a little odd to me. Seems a little forced to me and it feels like he’s trying to make something special out of a team that hasn’t made any special moves in years. I honestly don’t know what is so praisable about this mediocre team that doesn’t even realise that they should get rid of Markkanen. They don’t even understand when to fully enter a rebuild.
@@rykrath That's the thing. Detroit had best odds, went to 5. Spurs were like 4th or 5th, and won the lottery. Utah has a lot of good young pieces. Getting rid of everyone can tank the culture of the team as well, and instill bad habits. I'd rather rebuild like the Jazz have done, while still holding young players accountable and instilling a winning attitude, than to become like Detroit or Charlotte.
@@Forever_Soul They cant trade Trae because nobody want to pay him or give assets to get him. So atlanta is stuck with Trae. Its ugly situation in atlanta.
@@nolimitnerm8702 Point is that atlanta made big mistake with Trae. Jazz dont do same mistake, you can be sure of that. So Keyonte never gonna get that money. And honestly, Keyonte may be unplayable if team try win games. Cant keep negative players on the floor if try win chips.
Lauri is a 27 year old 4, He can go through a couple more years of a rebuild and then at 29-31 he'll be at his prime since he was a late bloomer anyway.
I'm a jazz fan..we are the worst drafting team in sports history! Probably one of the best with teaching and coaching! That's why we've been good for yrs not great! The league needs to be on notice!! We freaking fired our 35yr scout!!! Oops jazz about to win chips in 30s
Would love to jump on the band wagon here. Love Danny Ange. Love the Jazz. But last year they were so bad that they were unwatchable. Got a 13 year old for a coach and played awful undisciplined basketball.
they were literally good for like 6 years in a row there from 2016 onwards. They have finished below .500 like 9 times in their entire hostory. Anything above .500 is by definition, good.
This take needs to cook more before sharing it. Smith has shown no intention to spend to help this squad improve. Ainge is a wizard and one of the best at this but he’s only as effective as his owner lets him.
That groomer fiance's head game is probably so out of control it makes this guy question his life decisions. Who gives a shit. Something tells me you don't get girls much.
@@dearmas9068 hush up mex-I-can nobody cares what you have to say unless you’re willing to explain why. Your opinion is invalid especially because of the grease
Time will tell - but Utah gave Wolves a conference final...so if the masterclass includes upgrading a rival to not only win now and be in contention next 2 years, then it's a masterclass by Utah 😂 Mitchell + Gobert + Kessler and pieces would be challenging now and next 3 years. GMs like Presti and Ainge are not geniuses - literally ANY GM can trade their stars for picks and maybe get lucky on a trade piece. ANY GM. There is ZERO skill in that. There is skill in drafting and trading and having thr right coach. But hey, Detroit have tried it; Wizards have tried it - and both have been historically terrible and they are PRAYING their draft picks pan out. Good luck Utah.
They got Kessler from the Gobert Trade. They couldn't have both him and Gobert. Nor Mitchell and Lauri. Utah was stuck, and Mitchell and Gobert weren't getting along. They knew they wouldn't win as they were, so they blew it up. You could argue that they didn't bottom out as much as they should have, but the Lottery is designed to punish tanking, and that's part of the reason Detroit is still in hell. I'd rather be where the Jazz are now, getting good young pieces and tons of picks for their stars, who still haven't won anything on their new teams. Give those young guys playing time and structure, which is why I'm ok with them keeping some of their vets instead of tearing down every single piece.
The Jazz went on a 16 game losing streak last season, their point guard George is awful and Walker isn’t physical at all. John Collins ain’t worth 25 mil a year.
They got Collins for free practically, he’s not apart of the long term. I imagine he’s gonna get shipped off for a pick. Keyonte is young and raw. He has time to improve
Keynote is awful? He has great shooting mechanics, tied game 3 point record last year. Played out of position. I promise you that you’ll eat those words in Two years
he shot under 40 percent from the field and had a horrible turnover rate and poor defense. Non existent really. Donovan was already great by Christmas. Thats what the stars look like as rookies. They come out of the box averaging 15 to 20 and just get better and more efficient. They dont start at the bottom playing like crap. The ones like that just develop into bench players.
ehhh that might not be true much longer. tech moved in here. its pretty, plenty of rich people playground areas up in the mountains. Utah is low key like upper third or upper quarter of places to live. I lived a bunch of places, Utah is nice just the air quality sucks. Not every max player revolves their life arounfld IG whores, weed, and going clubbing. Europeans who arent as dumb and shallow actyally get it and dont have the dumb attitude and misconceptions. Oh waaaah theres Mormons...pff nicely tell them you arent interested. Done. Waaaah my alcohol is weaker! Who cares about catering to a bunch of stupid drunks? Just go to the liquor store and buy wjatever like anywjere else. Theres tons of weed here anyway if thats what they really care about.
Correction: Filipowski was a pick made possible through a trade of Simone Fontechio. Olynyk and Obaji were traded for a 1st round pick that became Isaiah Collier.
You see Laurie in the Spurs? Or should they run it with CP3 and see how the season goes with him and Castle. Wait for the draft and think better which tardes can be good.
Jazz have a lot of loopholes in the team. They need 3 things very badly. 1 - Key fast and accurate sharp shooters who can light it up when the rest of the team is flat. 2 - Fewer turnovers. 3 - A better defense that teams can't easily exploit and that the Jazz can use to put clamps down hard when needed to win games
Due to so much money in the league... the talent in drafts is insane but its so much tougher to win with so many competitive teams with 3-4 great players.
