Nick Wright has been getting roasted by Boston sports fans -especially Patriots fans, on social media for a long time now. I have no doubt all his Boston "takes" play a role in his inane hyperbole.
@@bentley7544 that had nothing to do with that, but no tatum leads the team in points, rebounds, plus minus, and assists this post season. Jaylen has one game tying basket.
Tatum is in a lose lose situation all around. Not to mention if Jaylen Brown plays better for one game the media will restart the “Jaylen is better” narrative again
The funny part on the flip side of that situation is JB doesn't get his flowers a lot of the time. If they do give him flowers, they end up turning it into shade towards Tatum. Just dumb all around.
I really don’t get the Tatum criticism -Very durable player -Doesn’t complain/flop -Role model to the youth/ no off-court drama -although I would like to see him take an MVP level leap like Luka, Giannis, Jokic, SGA, he is still a dependable superstar when it matters -Can score on 3 levels -Plays solid defense -great teammate/doesn’t throw his teammates under the bus
i don't think Tatum will ever win MVP when he has stars around him. for him to win MVP, the media wants him to carry his team or atleast score 35 and rebound 10-15 night in and night out.
@@G-DS413 The NBA media fkn *loves* Joel Embiid. And he never even gets out of the second round. He has five times more playoff stinkers then Tatum has but never gets any critisism for it. But he has the scoring stats during the regular season and they *love* that. So it does not matter if he makes the rest of the team better or not..
Tatum committed the cardinal sin against the media: not giving them anything consistently to talk about. The Celtics need him to be the selfless, cerebral leader on the court who enables their historic offense and defense. The media wants him to be a head case diva and a hard carrying scorer who will give you 40 points every night but losing half the time.
Embiid is the perfect NBA star. Regular season scoring stats and constant fkn drama. Never gets out of the second round, but never gets any critisism for it. There is always the alluring potential of next year!
Facts! Tatum has a personality like Tim Duncan and the media HATES that. He's very private and known to be a nice guy. If he was out here acting like Ant or Ja (before the guns), he would be a media darling!
They usually hate anyone that plays for boston. Freakin haters. Any franchise that wins the most in history is hated the most. Look at Tom brady everyone hated him until he retired
I like this take. I used to be annoyed when people would wear Brady's jersey at school on the Monday after the Super Bowl 😂 but he's without a doubt earned his respect. Now with Tatum, as a fan of both Florida teams, I don't think he deserves the hate. I honestly think it's because he plays for the Celtics, everybody be hating on the Celtics but they're a great team with a lot of history.
Yup. It's not just "they hate us cuz they ain't us", it's the fact that corporate sports media and Boston sports have been at war for over 20 years now. ESPN being the absolute worst of the bunch. It's hard to take anything ESPN says seriously.
@@user-lt1fx2he5s exactly, I actually like Tatum, but like I mentioned up thread if I am down one on the last play he is the absolute last player I want in control of the ball.
The one thing he forgot to mention was how soft the refs are when dealing with Jayson Tatum. I found a 10-minute compilation of just refs giving Tatum soft techs. It is getting rediculous. Additionally, Tatum made his mark earlier in his career as a scorer, but now, his rebounding, defense, and basketball IQ have risen off the charts, and it is what no one is talking about.
no one wants to talk about Celtics +/- when he is on the floor and off. JB cooks when JT is out there with him. when tatum is on the bench and it's just JB, they hardly ever go on big runs, usually give up runs
His defense will prove all wrong. I remember how rasheed wallce stamped his legacy via defense. Because general crowd would only want to see scorers, and dont dwell on the other side that a great scorer can be sopped by a great defender. Nevermind, it will always be that way. And im rooting for them to win it all via defense. Game 1 versus indiana wasnt that good, but hopefully they bounce back on that lousy defense game 1
We have people telling blatant lies like "Tatum gets worse as the playoffs go on" ad so forth. Basketball fans and media are TRULY the worst in all sports. Some of the dumbest fans I've ever seen. NO PLAYER is above criticism, but look at the reactions to how people treated Anthony Edwards in Game 7 vs Tatum and the Celtics in game 1. Both teams won by the way, but Tatum played significantly better than Edwards. This isn't to even say Ant played bad because I've defended his all-around play outside of his shooting performances.
Thank you for this take brother. Like this guy is so good that the media nit picks on Tatum so much. Tatum has had 5 straight great games and Ant went 6/24 and nothing was said because they won. My guy I think we had the same brain. This is awesome take. Was thinking the exact same way. They are obsessed with talking about this guy. Win the Celtics lose, the east were so weak. It's just crazy
I talk about this all the time in the community or with my friends and everyone just calls me a Celtics fan which isn’t wrong but idk how you can be a real NBA fan and not see the clear cut negative agenda the media and even some players/coaches have towards Tatum. If any other player compared to him were in his position right now with his resume at his age they’d be singing their praises like they were the second coming of Jordan.
I think you hit the nail on the head with this one.... I've never been a Celtics fan or recall wanting to see them win ever, until 2019-2020 season. Covid hit and I just got into collecting sports cards again. I pulled a nice numbered Tatum rookie. Also I was looking at the future of the NBA and trying to predict who the next young star of the league would be. Embiid, Giannis, and Jokicwere the medias favorites for guys pushing Bron, Curry, and KD out the door. Luka Trae and now Zion were the projected new faces to carry the league. I was looking for a player that was overlooked but in the right position to take the league by storm. Enter Jayson Tatum. Man has been nothing but a reliable overachiever since the 2017 playoffs, yet all they do is criticize and minimize his achievements while trying to catapult people who don't have nearly the accomplishments he has above him because they like them more. And the funny thing is I don't understand why people are so critical of this dude. All he does is go out, hoop, and mind his business. Of all the reasons I hear why people don't like JT as a player, the most common one is " that nigga just too light-skinned bruh" 😂😂 but no lie. It's just ashame that because he plays for a team that many people don't like and he's not a big personality that people want to see him fail so the people they like can be the main attraction. Funny thing is once he or any other player that's doubted achieves all of these things the critics say you wouldn't, they cheer for you like they never said a word. It's really weird how people do that without hesitation. When it's all over for this man he will be one of the greatest players from his era if not ever and it's just sad that sooo many people spend their time hating instead of appreciating greatness... Damn didn't 20+ years of hating Lebron for no reason teach you bitches anything?
I’m a die hard Celtics fans I grow up in la people will forever discredit Larry bird bill russel kg JT & Paul but I watch and research them guys they cooked the full league that’s why people mad lol
Literally every single player in the NBA does the exact same thing. They just single Tatum out because anyone who's not a Celtics fan hates the Celtics. No other team is treated like that. I can show you games in the playoffs, multiple games, that any star you want has had bad games. I can understand some of the criticism, if it's valid but it almost never is. It's crazy to me that one of the best players in the NBA and an actual good humble person is treated like that. But it is what it is. He will prove them wrong and expose their bias anyway.
eh i don't know anybody that hates the celtics any more than other teams. i know i hate the lakers not because of lebum. but the media loves to hate on anybody not named lebron or ant
What gets me is the media always talking about the Celtics offense being to much 1 on 1. I’m a Celtics fan and at times I agree, but the Mavericks run the same exact offense literally the exact same with Kyrie and Luka and you never hear the media talk about them doing to much isolation and I bet they do it more. Stephen A Smith is the reason I can’t stand the ESPN media anymore, because he’s always critical of the C’s offense but not other teams who run the exact same.
The mavericks do not run iso every play that is just completely wrong. A lot of the time they do run the ball through Luka, because he garners 2-3 players automatically as soon as he passes the half court line. And then because he is an amazing player, he can facilitate that offense and find the open man, and yes that is usually with Kyrie running a ball screen because of how strong that is.
@@GalacticNarwhal okay. I did not say every play. I said they run a very Iso heavy offense which they do. Yes Luka garners a lot of attention and kicks the ball out. Every team does it. But when those screen and rolls are not working it is either Luka or Kyrie working to their spots and trying to either shoot the ball or draw a foul. My point was that the Celtics get bashed for it while other teams don’t.
@@GalacticNarwhal Mavericks had the second highest iso percentage at 10.5% behind the Clippers who had a 13.0% and the Celtics had a 9.0% iso per possessions. Mavericks have stayed at that range at 10.6% while Boston has jumped to a 12.5% this postseason. A lot of that has to do with KP being out. But it’s still just ridiculous the amount of hate.
@@FigureFarter I can’t stand when I open the ESPN app after a cowboys lost and see his stupid fake laugh videos about it. I’m not a Cowboys fan it’s just annoying lol
Uncut Hoops proves he knows basketball yet again. What an amazing and brave video to make. The Tatum hate is popular from everyone. Both the old heads and the tiktok hoop fans. MJ or LeBron fans alike. Dude is so hated for no reason. Thank god the critism is gonna be wayy more quiet after the ring this year. Celtics could probably win 2-3 of the next 5 after that too. Then it might finally slow down
I turned off the Celtics Pacers game with a couple minutes left in the 4th quarter thinking it was a definite Pacers win....Later on just for kicks I pulled up the box score and saw the game went to OT and the Celtics won the game....
You made some great points, Tatum is getting a lot of unfair criticism. Especially considering the fact that unlike the new media darling Ant, he’s very humble and respectful. But Tatum and the Celtics have a bad habit of underperforming or playing to their opponents’ level when the Celtics should be blowing them out. That bad habit of them is a frustrating thing to watch.
@@solemagus4761He said he's the best player ok if he didn't everybody would have said he's not confident the man damn if he does and damned if he doesn't😂😂😂.
I got a lot of respect for this channel; I mainly watch to keep myself grounded by hearing opinions I generally don't agree with. But every so often you a drop a video that's entirely consistent with your basketball philosophy and I *also* agree with. Props for speaking your mind instead of speaking for attention/views.
Thank you for speaking about this, shits getting ridicoulous, when ant shoots 6/24 they speak about his other aspects like defense and that he almost had a triple double but tatum literally lead every major stat against the cavs and dropped 36 on the pacers
Let people hate on him. He is still my idol bcoz of his personality and him being a very humble player. I would obviously pick him over a narcissistic self proclaiming GOAT. Jordan, Kobe and Tatum 💯
@@1andOnlyKB anything to boost Lebron’s legacy. Shai was getting attacked earlier in the season when he came out saying Kobe over Lebron, and he cooled off on that.
@@user-lt1fx2he5s not sure what you're asking me. The title of video is that media keeps lying about Tatum, and my response is that his favorite player is Kobe Bryant. Did you not understand the context?
Jason Tatum is a high character player who can galvanize his team. It’s Boston hate because the media knows that the city is hypersensitive when it comes to their sports teams. Three years ago Jason was a budding superstar. Like Anthony Edwards. If Edwards doesn’t win in three years, the media snakes will turn on him too.
This. Exactly this. It's so frustrating seeing Tatum play excellent defense and sacrificing points for dominant team wins, contributing in all areas of the game but get absolutely hacked by the media, when someone like Embiid (who has NEVER EVEN MADE IT TO A CONFERENCE FINALS!) or ineffective Ant's 16 points getting not even so much as a comment... it's so biased against JT, it's embarrassing. So many conference finals in so few years in the league, with so many big moments should be PRAISED, not criticized. Ridiculous.
So crazy how players can have a bad game until the 4th and the media praise them for turning it on when it matters but not jason tatum Theres obviously some valid critisims with his game but fuck me the slander is out of control
Completely agree with the idea that the media decides who it wants to promote. However, this year, the Celtics have no excuse to lose to anyone left in the playoffs. T-wolves are scary, but the path is literally laid out for the Celtics.
I don't care if Tatum's not even in the top 30 of the NBA's best players. the Boston Celtics uderstand Bannner 18 is loading this year through the selfless play of the starters and the bench players. KP will rest til the Finals and Ant or Luka will burn each other out during the WCF. Boston in 5bvs Indy Lets Gooo🎉☘️
Thanks for doing this because Tatum got unnecessary criticism over the win over the pacers and he brung them home.... I just think it's unfair and I hate Boston but we have to keep it real for the integrity of the game 💯💪🏾🤞🏾
Tatum is great. He does nothing but win and make deep playoff runs despite being in his early 20s for much of his success, he rarely sits out games, he puts up great numbers, play solid defense. Its like they want to write him off before he is even 27 years old. JT had like 34 and 11 or something and in game one vs the Pacers but the media only said he had an off game. He missed one clutch 3 and hit another in OT. He outscored the entire Pacers team in OT with 12 in 5 minutes! Not a word about that from the media.
The Celtics are a one-of-a-kind team. The reason for Tatums treatment is at the core of what drives this amazing team: Who do you need to stop? Brown, White, Hauser, Horford, Pritchard, Porzingis and Holiday Almost everybody can contribute at a high level. And they have a coach who understands the chaos that this creates on the court. What I see is a group of guys that love to play together...who are willing to dial back their egos to keep everyone (even Luke Kornet !) involved in the offense. My concern has been what happens during crunch time in a big game. IMHO Tatum - a great player - hadn't quite shown Bird-esque confidence that he can take over when needed. But this year I see a new level of confidence as demonstrated by his play during the overtime in the Pacers game.
Had 36 and 12… comeback win .. his co star is nice though and AS Jalen should supports him don’t forget about Holiday! That shit was amazing last night Pacers inexperience was dismal blatant…
When joker puts up 25 and the nuggets lose a close out game by 45 points says a word...tatum does 25 10 9 in a close out win and all they talk about is hortford 😂
People here saying I actually like Tatum “BUT” this and that. Come on people you just hate him because he is good and he plays for the Celtics. Be honest!
Media and some Celtics fans have always been crazy disrespectful to JT. The fact is that JT is one of the most versatile superstars in the NBA right now. Not many other players can threaten 50 points in any given game, 10+ rebounds and 6-8 assists while playing above average defense. I mean, who can do that? The only ones that pop immediately to mind are a healthy Kawhi Leonard (though Kawhi has never been much of a passer), healthy AD and a younger Lebron (back when Lebron played defense). I'm sure there are more, but it's a very short list of players. The other thing is that Tatum doesn't have to be this box-score statpad every night. He's on a team with 6 all-NBA/All-Star caliber players. What's amazing about Tatum is he can be the face of a team with that much talent and adapt what is normally a ball-dominant, iso-heavy playstyle to instead fit into working with these guys. Instead of trying to hold the ball and force his own shots, he's instead passing and finding other ways to contribute without the ball (such as rebounding and defending). When JB or D White gets going, Tatum is there feeding them the ball or letting them do their thing. This is actually one of the toughest things for a superstar to learn and it's the reason that so many star-studded teams fail. It's hard to learn to go from being the guy who does whatever he wants to being another cog in a well-oiled wheel.
Imma just be real like most people dont want to admit, but its because Tatum is mixed and lightskin. Thats why they trying to push Edwards and Morant as the new age face of the NBA
The media is obsessed with crowning whose next and get bored easily. You can see it in how they cover the mvp race and who wins it. They want to crown edwards as next like they did for tatum 5 years ago, and they are bored of the celtics winning games but not championships
you are totally right. For some reason the media goes after Tatum and is never happy. And they go on every opportunity to get him an other bad comment. I mean look at Perk's comments on the show with Richard Jefferson. He wants him to go for 50. Man he scored 36 and 12 rebounds. sorry that's bs. He wasn't perfect prior to overtime and he could have bin more aggressive yes but he delivered big time in overtime. And actually, no, he doesn't need to go for 50. Brown is there, White is there, actually everyone of the team is a weapon on that team. and what nobody is talking about, as you mention: He averages 10 rebounds in the playoffs together with 5,5 Assists in addition to his 25 points, and he plays amazing defense. the media is talking about brunson and how he has more of an impact on scoring: yes, because he needs to, there was only one other real scorrer left on his team. If randle and the other guys would have bin healthy he wouldn't need to score this much... and brunson isn't really known for his defense. Not saying he's bad, not at all, he's very good, one of the best offensive players but scoring isn't the only thing in basketball. And why is it bad to have good players around you who can score as well. Tatum doesn't need to score 50 because the others want to shoot too. Brown, Porzingis, White all those guys want to score and are clutch. In my opinion, yes he should be aggressive to score but if the shot isn't there for him, why forcing up a contested fadeaway 3? No, if Brown is open, then let him shoot/dunk. Tatum wants to score 25, Brown wants 25, White wants 20, Porzingis wants 25 they all want to score and are very capable of. In my opinion that's much better then to just have Brunson scoring 30-45 and if he doesn't they loose... so, the media and other teams are just jealous they don't have that many options. stop hating Tatum and Brown. Those guys are insane and are great on offense and defense. Try to find a whole group who plays great on both sides of the court.
I’m a Celtics fan, I think most of us can’t say enough good things about Tatum and all our guys. Have loved watching them all year, I’m sure Jayson is gonna be just fine if he ends up champion and someone else wins finals MVP. But, I’d personally really love to see him go crazy in the finals and take both trophies.
If you’re paying attention to the games he plays the other teams are double teaming him almost all game to try to take the ball away from his hands. He has had to change his game a bit and sacrifice shots and scoring more points for the better of the team and making that extra pass to the open man. People need to learn to pay attention to the games and stop focusing so much on stats.
His averages have quite literally increased every round of the playoffs this postseason: R1 - 21.8pts, 10rebs, 5ast, 0.4stls, 0.6blks on 42/29/80 shooting splits R2 - 26.8pts, 10rebs, 6asts, 1.6stls, 1blk on 44/27/95 shooting splits R3 - 36pts, 12rebs, 4ast, 3stl on 46/25/83 shooting splits It's mostly the way yall just tell blatant lies to push these stupid narratives.
im rooting against the celtics and i gotta say tatum is a PROBLEM. if I had to choose between prime mello and jason tatum right now im choosing tatum easy and even im mad at myself for admitting that but his all around game is crazy. i peeped some celtics fans dissing him. for those who are yall bugging hes the real deal.
Tatum is the winningest playoff player since 2017. More playoff wins and points than KD, Curry and Lebron since he entered the league. Trailing only Kobe by 130+ points (as of Game 3 ECF) for the most points of a player under 26 (Kobe and Lebron started at 18, Tatum started at 19). If he scores 20+ ppg and the Celtics goes to the Finals and plays at least 5 games, he will break the record. I can't see how the media can slander Tatum for being successful at a young age. I hope Tatum wins his first ring this year along with JB and Old Man Horford just to shut these bums up
Tatum didn't have to overchiev or push himself more than he did bc he has a TEAM, and on top of it: in the EC! Would you push the boundries like LeBron so you could complaint about long season or something? I would never if it's not necessary. So? Tatum is "fresh" for the POs :)
The only problem with Tatum is he sucks his elbow too far in when he shoots. His shot is inconsistent because of this. It’s a balance you can’t pull it way to far in or have it way jutting out. This is especially a problem since Tatum is double jointed and completely double locks his elbow on his follow through.
I actually really like jt. But he doesn’t have the aura of people like Luka, ant, and (hot take) Jamal Murray. And has come up short when he shouldn’t have. So it’s more that his aura isn’t up there, and bc of that his highs aren’t appreciated like other clutch players. Jt has the aura of Devin booker, Chris Paul, Paul George. All great player, but aura and a couple bad performances in big games is what brings them down and so they get sm criticism
It’s crazy how you put what I was thinking but didn’t know how to express into words. Also interesting how his aura matches all those players who will never be champions.
Look, Tatum was a media darling since day 1. He was dunking on Lebron as a ROOKIE. He got all the hype. But other stars, YOUNGER stars have already passed him up. He needs to win a chip to shut everybody up. This was the same with Giannis. Don't overthink it bro.
Excellent video! The NBA media hates Jayson Tatum and the Celtics! Notice how these talking heads keep talking trash about Tatum and Celtics! This is their narrative to get ratings. There are a lot of Tatum and Celtics haters. Tatum is young and is now coming in his prime. The only way to silence the critics is for the Celtics to win the championship and Tatum to get the Bill Russell MVP award. 😊 The Celtics are due. This is by far their best team.
The hate for him is so real🤦🏾♀️ after the finals lost I knew I was a real Tatum fan ☘️ because he's so much better than what people see.... he's a much better passer then he's credited for and moves without the ball... He's a humble superstar
Sports media has been pushing narratives for years now. Just look at the knicks/pacers game 7 broadcast they couldn’t have done a worse job of not hiding their knicks bias and then when Brunson suffered that unfortunate injury Doris Burke sounded like she was about to cry as she was going over the knicks’ accomplishments during this szn. Tatum is experiencing “the victim of your own success” slander being a 5x all star, 3x 1st team all NBA (1x 3rd team all nba) ECF MVP, a trip to the finals, multiple ECF trips, perennial MVP contender. Not to mention the number of legends who were the 1A of their team to win their 1st championship before they were 26 can be counted on the less than one hand. MJ didn’t, LBJ didn’t, Shaq didn’t , Curry didn’t, Durant didn’t. Tatum having accomplished so much to this point in only his 7th year only has 2 things missing a championship and an MVP.
finally soomebody having a DIFFERENTIATED opinion, which can straight up not be said about sports media (and ofc especially not about social media haha)
