With all the fans that Casey has now, I am surprised how little views this has. I wonder what it would be like to watch this without knowing anything about Casey.
I watched a few episodes of this back when it aired.I didn’t really find it that interesting. It was just so random and all over the place. That’s why it failed. The world wasn’t ready for this vlogging style. Don’t get me wrong. The editing and creativity is impressive. But the actual content is more interesting now that Casey became successful and we can look back with the context of entire career and how he’s evolved as a filmmaker.
And Tom Sachs! It's honestly insane. People like to think Casey was a RU-vid guy all along but he's been with really talented people in the film and art scene for quiet some time.
Facts. I was at the SXSW premiere of A Space Program. Tom was in the lobby just hanging a few minutes before the movie began. This dude who looked exactly like Shia Lebouffe comes up and Tom is super excited to see him. I thought it was him but something was a little off. Turns out it was Josh Safdie but I had no idea who he was back then. Those dudes are all legends. Glad Van has resurfaced and finally put out RU-vid videos (long overdue).
I really actually like this quality, don't know why just feels like something with so much thought and idea put into it and the way it was filmed and the simple cameras used just shows that it's not all about the equipment its about the story you tell
AN EXPLANATION OF OUR TELEVISION SHOW. THE SHOW IS COMPRISED OF A SERIOUS OF OUR SHORT FILMS ABOUT OUR LIVES. THEN THERE ARE SHORTER INTERSTITIAL FILMS LACED THROUGHOUT. ALL OF THESE ELEMENTS ARE COMBINED AND THAT'S THE TV SHOW
+mztweety1374 Van and Casey went their own way because of the drug use of one of them. I leave it in the middle who of the brothers fucked up big time but that is the reason they split and Casey moved to NY. I find it weird that Casey is smoking and doing bad things and in his vlogs he is like he never smoked when smoking a cigarette for a art thing.
braveheart 015 You've got your story a bit wrong... Casey and Van both lived in NYC during the filming of the show. Casey used to use some weed, probably so did Van -- that's all good and within moral duty. Anyway, could you link me to a reliable source that signifies your drug use rhetoric?
I wish van has censored footage and show us the footage on patreon Or in one of his films on his RU-vid channel. .... Join van neistat the spirited man on patreon and subscribe to his channel...
+Adam Williams Since he was going through the divorce at the time they were filming, I don't think he could talk about it on camera due to legal issues.
It was divorce the allude to it „van decided to go through with his di*****“ then a stock clip of taking off a ring. Probs censored because talking about it is either a stipulation of or a requirement during the process since it would have taken longer than where they were in selling and airing the show hence why they had to go back reshoot after the episode had been made. Take mind idk wtf the story was but this is what makes sense to me.
+Peter Benn thats actually not the case. Van works for Tom Sachs in NYC, he's very successful. They both have their different views on media and technology.
I enjoy Casey's vlogs, but I have no idea how or why HBO bought this. This was shot at a time when Current TV was becoming popular and this would have barely made Current TV's programming. I just honestly don't know how a "TV Show" that has to have a fucking explanation at the opening of every episode explaining the "TV Show"... which the explanation is always just "This is a TV Show about us talking about how this is a TV Show"... ever made it to HBO... But obviously they weren't given a second season and you cannot find this on HBOGO...
Then I guess you don't watch Casey's vlog's. Candice has been a big part of Casey's success. She's supported him through the tough times and became a part of his life when he was couch surfing.
Darwinian Blunder I'm referring to them as human beings, for Christ's sake. I am just referring to their entertainment value. I don't make judgements about who is a better person based on a TV/RU-vid show.
