Hey! I have been watching your videos and recently I landed up a job in one of the FAANG companies. And mind you, I am from a civil engineering background with almost 2.5 years of experience in the IT industry. Thanks Ben. I really mean it :)
All the success to you!! you really help me pass an algorithms course and now helping me to prep for an interview. you are a great teacher keep doing it!!!
Thanks a ton. Your videos are great and are very down to earth. I hate professors that use convoluted language and make a ton of assumptions on a student's knowledge/pace of learning. You're really helping a ton. Thanks for giving back, we need more people like you. Don't get discouraged, you have a teaching gift.
You made backtracking & recursion just click for me. Got my dream job and a good chunk of that is thanks to you. Will definitely check this out next time im prepping for an interview. Thanks for the great content
Unrelated but thank you for your detailed breakdowns on some of the common problems. Learned a lot and landed an internship in part thanks to you. Can’t thank you enough
I just want to say that this is probably the best algorithm channel I have ever seen. I kind of saw this coming as this channel was too good to be free. As this channel gets mentioned more on reddit, I get a little worried that this might happen. It make sense that there is business opportunity here. From a user standpoint, I am a bit sad to see that we are now going to move into a payment direction. But after seeing all the free contents this channel provided, I am looking forward to purchasing the paid content materials. This channel is the real deal, no bull shit tech drama, just pure gold content. I will pay for backtobackswe over tech interview pro, algoexpert, grokking coding interview any day. Why? Because you've proven to us with your free content that you have some of the best stuff out there. Well done, looking forward to be a customer and learner for your new platform.
Yes, I mean to my core I hate doing videos. It doesn't seem like it because I have a high intrinsic work ethic to anything I start so I bring all I have to the table. I know no one in my position will leave their algorithms class and teach merge sort and the math behind it for free (of the tens of thousands of computer science students in the world). It sucks but I think it is the net best move. Provide paid content, increase quality, and ensure the longevity of the project.
@@BackToBackSWE I know I'm selfish when I say this, but I hope you'll choose a different direction for your business. Keep growing your RU-vid channel. You're helping many people. Changing many lives. I understand and completely agree that you need to make money also, but there are ways you can make money while growing your channel: RU-vid ads, premium content on your site, small group coaching, etc. I was surprised to hear you don't enjoy making the videos. You have a gift for teaching. I have just recently discovered your channel and thanked my lucky stars for the way the RU-vid algorithm brought your videos into my queue. 😁Just a couple of days ago I was literally crying because I couldn't make sense of recursion. Then I came across your videos and I was able to see the light. 😁I was recursively going down a path to insanity. You saved me from having to commit myself into a mental institution. 😊 Enough drama for me. My point is, I love your videos and your teaching style. I hope to see more from you on RU-vid. Either way, I wish you best of luck in your new business.
I really hope you can continue to upload on YT. It has helped me tremendously. I see that you want to be independent and not rely on YT, but I would still appreciate content uploaded here. Thanks.
You teach topics in depth like nobody I have ever seen!!! I know your target audience is different, but if you could make indepth explanations on most common CS topics it would help greatly for us students. I personally found your asymp. bounding 101 and other data structure videos very much helpful. Everyone teaching these topics assume we know jackshit about math and dumb down the topics to the point of memorization. And that really hurts our ability to actually understand stuff, that is why I found your videos helpful and will be keeping up to see what else you post onwards.
Hey first up awesome job! I can't thank you enough for your extremely detailed explanation which help ingrain the concept. One quick question though, I just got the cic subscription sometime back ..is the same subscription going to be transferable to this site?
Yes, we are working to transfer people over, just been involved since we need to set up a one-off thing to make the transition work. We will have an email for this sent out shortly
Hi! Fantastic videos! I was really impressed with the clarity of explanations and how great and useful your content is. Are you planning on creating any videos on square root decomposition, by any chance?
I’m gonna try the platform! Just to support you, because this is my dear friend pure gold! I have 2 questions: 1. Is the platform is still maintained? ( in 2021)? 2. Is your platform supports JavaScript solutions? Thank you and keep up the good work! Vasko
All different videos, I brought the good ones over just for their presence. Also, I do not know how it compares, that's for others to decide, I am just building what I wish I had and I hope it is better.
Yeah, we will see, I'm not sure what will appear here next. Definitely, will stay to the topic people are here for (DSA), but right now I'm coding most of the time.
Hello Benyam! You’re videos are awesome and I like your journey from your first java video to all the way to where you are now. Are you still at University of Maryland? I will be attending Maryland in the spring semester and Ive been watching your videos from the bottom to learn from you. Also, do the videos you make stem from the class CMSC - 351?
Yes, I'm a rising senior. And sort of, I took CMSC351 and it helped with mathy videos. Hope to see u around, feel free to reach out on linkedin or somethin
Bro you could've built a wooden ship in the middle of the ocean and sold tickets and i still would've bought it. As long as your vids include you teaching, I'll buy that stuff like crack cocaine!
Can you please help me any medium to learn backend and frontend languages which you have used in your website? Your website really amazes me to learn the JS frameworks. Thanks in advance!!
You can use anything on the internet. Just take your time and with time you will get better. I'm decent. Watch any youtube video, do Udemy and random courses, build things, etc. No definite path.
Hi! Would it be possible to make a video demo-ing how the website works? I'm particularly interested in the integrated testing environment. Is it like Codewars? Can I see the test cases? Is the code evaluated in terms of correctness and performance, like Codility? Are there hints to help solve the questions? Actually a video doing a tour of the user experience would be great. Thanks for all the videos so far, you have a very approachable style and a way of 'turning the lights on'.
I don't want to list the present feature set here since we are rapidly adding features and the comment will be outdated in a few days (we don't support C++ but will in weeks, we don't support C# but will in weeks, we don't support testcase breakdowns but will in days, etc.).
Hi Ben..unfortunately your new page is talking a long time to load but once it loads, it is quick...please check it...also make your website code public so that we can contribute. It would be one of its kind
Hi. Could you please make a video on 909. Snakes and Ladders problem. The video solutions for this never really give an insight to how to think of bfs as an approach. It seems to be a dp problem. I am still unable to get an intuition. It would really be helpful.
Are you able to provide more insight for people with non CS backgrounds? I did nuclear engineering, worked for 3 years then taught myself programming and been a web devleoper for a year now. Will big tech companies hire me as new grad or junior? Do i stand a chance? I want to know if this road is possible before i purchase the course. (I already did an online course for data structure and algorithms) Please provide insight you may have.
I am not sure. It depends on the company, your experience, etc. The road is possible. It is up to your judgement if you feel ready to approach medium level material. You are welcome to ask for a refund if the material is too far ahead beyond what you've studied so far and we will happily grant that. We're more concerned it is a good fit for you and benefits you as that is our mission.
@@BackToBackSWE Thanks so much for the response. Can you please help me any medium to learn backend languages? Your website really amazes me to learn the JS frameworks, any source where I can get a good hold on both frontend and backend?
I’m guessing the service is a bit laggy right now. I signed up / purchased a membership on my phone, but the website isn’t usable on mobile devices. I then tried to log in on my laptop, but my credentials aren’t working (I’m sure they’re correct). Also when clicking “Forgot my password”, I’m brought to a page to change my password as if I’m already logged in, but this page seems to do nothing. Sorry to add extra work to your plate, but these are some pretty high priority bugs! Normally I’d just demand a refund but I look forward to your content.
Yes, we need: 1.) Technical writers to write technical articles for some of the free videos on RU-vid 2.) Solution writers to manage solution surfaces. We need to translate solutions into different languages and write more optimal solutions for certain problems. We have enough developers to go where we need to go on the coding side I think
So you are saying that you are not making any more videos here on RU-vid ;( And deleting all the videos from your channel and moving to the B2B platform.
That would be a bad decision from a value capture point of view (the service will grow, videos will be continual, it would only hurt to just give all you've built away forever for a price) and yes we could but won't.
Yeah, I've never been in a position like this. I'm not sure what is right because from our standpoint we have to charge enough to pay staff and make it worthwhile to do. I'm not sure what the solution to this problem is.
I'm from India and i tried three different debit cards to buy your course but none of them worked. I also tried paypal but it still doesn't work. Every time it shows "Some error has occurred Please try again". I really want to buy your course 😭.
InterviewCake, Grokking the Coding Interview, Algoexpert, Techlead's thingy, and now BacktoBackSWE. I need a rich person who can compare these paid interview courses.
Back To Back SWE yeah man why don’t you put your social media like Instagram fb and or Twitter? Those platform is easy exposure for you and a good way to actually have conversations with some of your viewers. I have an interview with Microsoft in 2 weeks bro, for a full time software engineering position. Are your videos only based on internships or can I use these for full time positions as well?
just saw serialize video from B2B updated site , so good but you teach in java and i know only c++,c and bit of python :"( ... btw i saved money to buy 1 year subscription but now i have to learn java before i take your course
I'm was watching almost from the beginning. What I doest like is that at first, y want to create "something" which was mentioned to be free. It's a pity that this story ends like most ones. Still big congratulations.
There are 2 alternatives: 1.) No videos ever again. 2.) Pay like...5 large pizza's worth to consume something someone dedicates their life to and puts all their mental energy into and have a higher chance at securing a job paying 30%-40% more. Doesn't seem like a pity to me. This is fundamentally how specialization of trade works and how society functions. It is why we buy houses, cars, etc. We trade money for someone else's time. I have given 1 year of my life. 1 year of my freetime. I have sacrificed my sanity to make things for free. No "story" is ending. Maybe it is just your fantasy of getting things for free all the time with no regard for the creators longevity.
@@BackToBackSWE Keep the RU-vid channel. But yes. Delete the website. It's not novel at all. These questions have been solved millions of times already. There is nothing "creative" about your solutions. It's not like you invented a new data structure to solve any of those problems. But... do whatever helps you sleep at night! ;-)
