I actually modded my switch before in 2020, but i no longer have that equipment because i moved. Im thinking of doing it again and this video really helped me relearn all the stuff i used to do!

Your first step about using SD Setup and then the following steps about manually downloading Atmosphere and Hekate are contradictory... SD Setup already has /atmosphere, /bootloader, /config, and /switch. Your next steps about dragging in Atmosphere (responsible for switch and atmosphere folders) and Hekate (responsible for bootloader folder) are just redundant (minus keeping the bin file handy) This could be the source of a lot of errors. I noticed your first "common issue" is that people should re-drag in the folders from SD Setup... aka replace the manually added folders from Atmosphere and Hekate downloads. Just thought I'd point it out! For the record, I haven't followed these steps myself but couldn't help but notice they're just overwriting each other. Really great tutorial. Everything else here was new to me, glad you made it.

Yeah, I think this was it for me. My Switch was disconnecting every time I tried to load Hekate, but when I deleted everything and only insert the SD setup files, Hekate booted normally.

Based on another comment, I just used that SD card setup website, followed everything else, and it worked out great! I've been meaning to mod my old switch ever since I got an OLED, so thanks for putting out such an easily digestible guide. Very happy to start tinkering with it!

This is the best tutorial out there. I've tried many of them but they don't work too well, especially when they're giving links to their discord to download their files. I don't recommend doing this because they customize the files.

I'm migrating to yuzu so my only main reason i wanted to mode my switch was to backup most of my stuff from my nand and games. Worked like a charm :D ! I almost would say it didn't work because my switch turns off immediately after the hekate splash/payload, but actually, it's because i was pressing the power button for too long :O (you need to release it exactly when the payload is injected to green) so here's my tip if some folks are also experiencing this.

Important note: Your switch should be powered all the way off while doing the TegraRCM initial Switch detection. You don't need to hold both the power button and up volume button while plugging in your device. You can plug in the USB on both ends (your computer and your Switch), then hold the up volume button afterwards and you just need to press the power button once. Your overall video is great, but that part was a bit confusing for me.

@@scorpion40khold the power button for about 10 seconds and it will show a menu saying sleep mode and power options. Select power options and then select turn off.

For people who have done up to the inject payload and the switch remains black screen, check the line "smashed the stack with a 0x#000 byte Setup". if its 0x7000, your switch is NOT patched. if its 0x0000 then it IS PATCHED.

Try redoing it. Pay attention to the screen and see if the starting image pops up. If it doesn't im not sure

You should go over backing up the sysnand and emunand after installing the homebrew software it can save your butt if your new to homebrewing a console and your Switch gets bricked or you want to restore your sysnand back to the original so you can have a normal switch again

Hey man, thanks for a great video. I am having some issues with mine. Long story short, I used SX os for a long time, went over to atmosphere last year. Up until know it has never fialed on me ever, but my issue now is that going into RCM it shows me a black screen. PC recognizes that somthing happens, but alas the Tegraapp doesnt show it as connected. I tried the last ferw things as well, but is there anything else you could think of that could make this work? Truly grateful for any help. It works in OFW, it connect to pc when "RCM" but black screen and nothing in the Tegrasoftware..

did you install the driver in tegra rcm in settings? if you have it might be a faulty cable

@@NeedelsMods Thanks for the quick reply. Yes I did, and it has been working great for a year now almost since I made the switch from SX os. And the cable is the same one that I have been using since when it used to work. Just tried transfering some files from my smartphone to pc, just in case to check out the cable..but yeah what I can tell, everything is as it should be. basically it feels like the switch is on, since the PC recognizes it as a a device, but no responce what soever from Tegra. And its not like these other comment where Tegra freezes up, mine just doesnt go green but I can do everything else in the software itself.

Just to add, I have several jigs, which all have worked at least once, I saved the rest in case I loose one. And noone of those are doing it for me.

@@levislape8304 hey brother. Try another cable..it was really stupid because, a usb c cable that I have used for over 2 years suddenly stopped working with the switch. So I took a cable that came with my ipad, i believe a 3.1 standard usb c cable, and it worked immediately. Hope it works out man

@@Nellz88 I don't remember anymore, I got rid of my mod files, it's too difficult to get information on how to do things and make things work, and I don't have all day to dick around with it. The error should have a file name that corresponds with the problem. It might just be a string of numbers. In my case, it was a string of numbers which was a folder within the mod files.

When i went check if my switch is patched i got the orange message, so that means that it's a 50% chance that i can modded and 50% that can't?

I got up to the tegra rcm stage and I followed all the steps on how to plug it in, but when i hold the sound up and power button at the same time and then plug it in, it just turns my switch all the way off, or all the way on every time.

this may sound dumb but if you cant get your switch to show up in Tegra, first thing is you can plug your switch into your pc FIRST, it doesnt have to be at the same time. Second is you don't hold the vol up and power button, just press them together once!

If you want a fast update: Today there is Caffeine who work on very old firmware, there is SX and HWFLY who work on any Switches, but it cost nearly the price of the Switch. So it's sometimes advised to rebuy an old Switch pour faire la Fusée Glacée m'voyez, or to buy a pre modchipped Switch

This guide has helped a lot, and my mods were working for a while, but recently I started logging into ultimate and my mods no longer load. The homebrew store is still there under album, but none of the mods store under ultimate\mods load in anymore. I have tried clearing my sd card and reinstalling the most recent releases of atmosphere, hekate, and the sd setup, but nothing is fixing this issue. Any idea what might be going wrong?
