Really loved how you showed the 6000XP hooked up to the 12Kpv. As well as the 12Kpv hooked up to the 18Kpv. Really interesting stuff and thank you for showing everyone this in a detailed way. Keep up the great content, Gavin!!

That generator input being able to be used as a smart output is exactly what I need. Thanks for mentioning that! I want to run an electric boiler for in floor radiant heat in the new house I’m building and dump all excess power into the concrete slab to absorb during the day.

That’s a perfect dump load! That or an EV would be an awesome use for the smart port.

Good video. I like the way you show load sharing. an interesting idea for sum-one upgrading from the EG4 6000XP to the 12Kpv

Yeah it can be done. I like trying to experiment with the gear and see what it’s capable of. Honestly the Luxpower inverters have proven extremely durable.

I was told the chargeverter gc didn't communicate with other brands. Nice to know! Good job as always

Thanks! From what I can tell the chargeverter uses Pylontech protocol. I tried a few others and the SOC went all wonky. But it was dead on accurate with Pylontech.

@@GavinStoneDIY My 18KPV has been going really great. Just shy a few weeks from a year since bringing it online. I just expanded my DIY pack from 30 to 60kwh. I'm really glad to see how your channel is coming along. Lots of great reviews and content.

Nice video!!!! Nice to have so many options... I think (and it's just my opinion) that if you use the inverter with the highest power as master, the others will just follow at their maximum power output available, if needed... I would put the 18Kpv as master and parallel it with 12Kpv and 6000 Xp inverters... that way you wouldn't lose the 18 Kpv's maximum output and benefit from the other two inverters maximum power as well... just how I see it... Thanks!!!
@GavinStoneDIY
@GavinStoneDIY 2 месяца назад
Yeah that can be done like I showed in the video. Honestly though I’d prefer to actually parallel them. That way they are communicating and they’d share the load output. As opposed to only being used when one inverter maxes out. So we’ll see what EG4 comes up with to parallel all the units together hopefully.

My batteries are still not charging, with the new 12k. I'm thinking somehow my bms has all gone caput or my battery banks have gone bad somehow. They are only a few years old, and I'm using Overkill solar bms. They used to charge up to 55.5 volts where i had them set to and now only go to 52.8 and then drain rapidly overnight with the air conditioning going. Do you have any advice? Should i drain them really low and then try to charge them again? Thanks for sharing, and as always, keep building 👍

You can always email me also if you’ve got questions. You have the voltage parameters set correctly on the 12k? What does the overkill say on the cell balance? Maybe send me some photos. It’s unlikely the BMS or cells are bad. Probably just a balance issue. You could have one cell that’s gotten out of balance and it’s dictating what happens to all the packs.

Cant Hybred inverters be connected to your home power box without an extra breaker box?
@GavinStoneDIY
@GavinStoneDIY 29 дней назад
Yes. This inverter can be attached directly to your home panel. It’s able to interact with the grid safely.

dose it get loud? I need to install this in my basement which happen to be also my office, continous humming noise would drive me crazy, please let me know as my whole design might change based on your answer.
@GavinStoneDIY
@GavinStoneDIY Месяц назад
It would totally depend on how many watts of solar you’re taking in, and how many watts of output you’re using. If everything stays below 6kw or so then the unit won’t make any noise at all. It’s completely silent. But at full capacity it definitely will make noise. It has 4 fans. So when it’s maxed out you can hear it for sure.
@scottstankis69
@scottstankis69 Месяц назад
How loud are the units under load?
@GavinStoneDIY
@GavinStoneDIY Месяц назад
At full load they can get pretty loud. But it has to be beyond that to wattage threshold to make any noise at all. So it depends on the load really.

Hey, I can't find anywhere of someone connecting 4 or 5 powerpro batteries in parallel to a singe 18kpv. My goal is to do it without a busbar but unsure if there is a reason everyone seems to stop with 3?
@GavinStoneDIY
@GavinStoneDIY Месяц назад
The manual states 3. So they won’t recommend more. But if it’s a single 18kpv then it can’t draw or push more than 250 amps. So it wouldn’t be an issue if you connected 5.
@tjmooney4181
@tjmooney4181 Месяц назад
Added number 4 and 5 to my single 18kpv today and worked perfect with no external busbar. Communication automatically registered on the 18kpv of all 5 batteries after about 5 minutes :) I love eg4 products and teslas

@@tjmooney4181can you show a photo of how you completed this install. The manual shows that they have to go to a buss-bar then up because of max 3 in parallel. I have 4 and they recommended a positive and negative bus bar one for the purpose of charger verter and 2 nd because of max parallel on the batteries

man i really want to do this, but for a first timer, its like holy crap dont mess up your first time, or dont buy the wrong thing so you handcuff yourself for future expanation.
@GavinStoneDIY
@GavinStoneDIY 2 месяца назад
Yeah I know exactly how you feel. If you take your time you can wire everything up. The manual describes a lot of it. And there are lots of videos on RU-vid explaining how to do it. As far as expansion, it’s fairly easy to grow with this type of setup. There will always be new gear every year though as the industry grows. So at a certain point you have to get into the game. I struggled with the same thing.
