These mini wings might be B&M finally breaking into the family coaster market. Family coasters are the one big gap in B&M lineup compared to their competition like Intamin, GCI, and vekoma .
@@KeepRidinCoasters There is actually only 2 family inverts from B&M, both in China and several years old. It appears to be B&Ms only failed coaster line. That model didn't really catch on, especially with stiff similar competition from companies like Vekoma. However, this mini wing coaster already seems to be getting off on a better start than the family invert.
I never expected to see a new B&M Wing coaster being built at a family theme park. Normally, I’d see a coaster like this to be built at parks like Energylandia, Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Six Flags St. Louis or SeaWorld San Antonio. But now, this changes everything. Kudos to Legoland Germany on building this new coaster. 👍👍
Yup, they did that family invert just before Covid. They know what they have to do to stay alive. That's why when I saw a video from someone saying B&M is on it's way out I call BS on that. Nahhh, only need to sell 2-3 coasters a year, not even and they stay alive. Breaking into family market is what they needed to increase the number of parks that could use a B&M.
This sort of "family coaster with inversions" category is interesting-- I have always been a little skeptical of it though, because inversions are such an extreme psychological deal-breaker for so many people. Just talking to people and overhearing conversations in line queues, I find so many people who will ride actually quite intense, rough coasters without inversions but are completely freaked out by the thought of going upside down. I wonder about the size of the niche of people who will ride an inversion but aren't just thirsting for the most extreme rides. I mean, I'm probably in that category myself, but I'm not sure it's huge.
All this new investment from Merlin gets my hope up for my home park Heide Park. I wish they'd build a Mack Extreme Spinning coaster. I'd make so much sense! Merlin is working with Mack on the Thorpe Park Hyper, the park hasn't had a new coaster in 8 years, it's not too expensive (Ride to Happiness had cost 15M Euro) and you can brag with it being something Germany's first (Heide Park loves that). It would be just perfect.
Chessington is 15 mins away from me, I haven't been to the park in a few years as I usually go to Thorpe Park instead (45 mins away). I'll go back to Chessington when their wing coaster opens in 2023. Also very excited for Project Exodus at Thorpe
I wonder if we will see Merlin build anymore Legoland parks in North America. I can see Texas, Chicago, and maybe Toronto being good markets for a Legoland amusement park.
The new attraction at Alton towers won’t be opening in 2024. It’ll be 2025 or 2026 by the time that opens and it’s not garuntied to be a coaster. Their 2024 investment is the nemesis retrack, which means merlin are technically getting 3 B&Ms as the nemesis retrack is gonna be very substantial, including replacement of alot of supports.
don't forget Merlin Entertainment is also building a new legoland in Belgium called Legoland Benelux, which will be the biggest legoland of Europe! If you do some research you can already find some first renderings of the park plan with multiple rollercoasters (with inversions) on it. I Doubt this will be the endresult because one of the coasters actually looks like a clone of Wicked at Lagoon. But i think its interesting nevertheless because this opens some possibilities of Legoland willing to expand their target audience to a more thrillseeking audience.
Good to see merlin are adding coasters to parks outside the UK and there is also a 2024 dualing boomerang coaster coming to legoland windsor no inversions on this one though ):
What about Legoland California and New York? A wing coaster (full-circuit or shuttle) would be a big deal at those two parks, too. California only has three coasters and it’s been years since they’ve added a new one, so I think that’s a little more possible first.
im gonna be honest i didn't even know there was a legoland germany lol. This is awesome news though!! I share in your enthusiasm & I'll definitely be keeping an eye on the reviews as soon as it's up and rideable, it certainly seems promising for both fellow enthusiasts and legoland.
Lol another edition of Americans living in a world where only America exists. There are legolands all over Europe such as Lego land Windsor (uk) and legoland billund (denmark) which was the first Lego park
I have heard that Legoland California might get a thrill coaster where our old thrill ride was I just don't know what it will be if it happens it will prob go under ground.
From what I've heard, B&M wing coasters aren't as forceful as other models so a wing coaster could be a great way to have a more thrilling coaster that is still gentle enough for younger riders!
In order for me to take you seriously from now on, I'm going to have to pretend like I didn't just hear you say that Wing Coasters are intense coasters. They are like riding on air with zero force through any maneuver. At least the one at Cedar Point is (which admittedly is the only one I've ever been on. 🤷♂️)
Doubt one would go to Legoland Windsor though. So many wing coasters less than an hour away from eachother. Thorpe park swarm, Chessington Jumanji and if one would go to Windsor. Way too close
@@KeepRidinCoasters am originally from uk .but seaworld orlando my home park.heard rumors that penguin dark ride might be replace with new dark ride for 2024
I think the parks in China will have B&M Family Inverts when those eventually open. I would rather see Legoland Florida get a Water Park expansion since they just got Peppa Pig over a new coaster (there is a gap between the wave pool and the slide towers perfect for a mat racer). I think Legoland Windsor is planning on doing something similar to Movie World Gold Coast with dueling Vekoma jr boomerangs to replace their dry raft slides. I wish they would get a modern SFC for California and anything for Dubai since I don't think that park has received anything except maybe the hotel since it opened six years ago. Florida does have the Island in the Sky site and maybe the stadium between Miniland and the Mouse that is not used for the lake show. I also believe the driving school wraps around a sinkhole-which makes the main track quiet small)
CA has the former Robo Arm Attraction and Fairy Tale Brook for what I see as ride plots, Billund is behind Ninjago and Porler X-Plorer (a festival area where they had a joust show a few years ago), NY and Korea are too new to show up on Maps, Billund after the dueling jr boomerangs would be their rapids ride and Lego Friends areas-maybe a twist and its the castle/pirate area, It looks like Dubai has expansion plots-but the dry park ones are taken up by office and utilities, Malyaia has some land on either side of their Kingdom area for something as well as a water park plot right up front that could double the water park's capacity if used. Japan is just lucky they could squeeze the 3 Ninjago-themed flats as its landlocked by a highway, a functioning port, a convention center, and a Sea Life across the promenade (There's also a railway museum nearby which is cool)-it might just be the worst park in the Legoland chain because Dubai does have more indoor space and probably has more people that speak multiple languages at entry positions
You should not take it as exact layout. All newspapers currently write of a short time beeing upside down. This layout was just a prediction based on the footers of the ride.
The layout is not official, it’s based on the footers, but not all supports have been installed if I’m correct. Don’t think it will have inversions and if it does, the minimum height requirement for B&Ms with inversions is 1.32m (52”) in Europa.
