I love my ‘24 AT4x AEV. I don’t tow much and I carry light loads. The kicker audio is standard and works great. It is a big truck however it has lots of cameras. The ride is fantastic.

I watched this video and went to the local GMC dealer and drove a 2024 1500 AT4 with the 6.2 V-8. I loved the truck and the 6.2 V-8 was great. I asked what size fuel tank it has and was told 24 Gallon. No option for a larger tank and no one makes a larger replacement tank. I currently have a 2019 Ford Raptor with a 36 gallon tank. The small tank was a deal killer for me. 24 gallon tank may work with the 3.0 diesel but not with the 6.2 V-8.

I took my 23 1500 AEV all over Broken Arrow, Soldier Pass etc in Sedona and it was perfect, went everywhere no problem. Just barely fits the tightest spots, not too big and not too small. My only regret is that it's not the diesel.

I have never understood the "light duty" diesels...whats the point? Gas is $3.00 a gallon and Diesel is $4.00 why pay so much more for fuel when you get basically the same performance?

Only thing about those AEV bumpers are the small holes to hook up to. I like the larger open hooks you get with the standard AT4.

People always leave out the part about diesel fuel costing way more per gallon than gas in most places...the cost per mile just doesn't make sense for 99% of people.

Just so you guys are aware the 3.0 diesel is the base engine in the AT4x. You have to pay 1500 to get the 6.2V8. Despite all Romans comments about paying more for the diesel.

Please mention the axle ratios on your mpg loop. I have a new 2024 Silverado 3.0 diesel (~2,000 miles) with max trailering package that has the 3.73 rear axle that gets 33mpg driving 65mph on the highway unladen. Mixed driving including winter temps is 25-26 mpg combined unladen. Please also read and disclose the pertinent door sticker info for the trucks you test. Otherwise, we sit here watching apples and oranges😊👍🏼. Thanks for all you do and ☘️

It’s a very nice truck but I can’t justify being in debt for ten years to pay it off

Out front at the local Costco was a Silverado with all same features minus the AEV gear. There was no Monroney in the window for what I suspect is sticker shock avoidance.

I'd rather get the option 6.2L gas engine.

Nathan are you actually complaining about the rock rails? It’s the AEV version. If they put side steps on it you’d complain when taking it to Moab.

They sell extra bolt-on steps, that are actually steps - that mount to those rock sliders. You guys are correct that you should NOT be using the sliders as steps (without the addon steps)

Yes, the payload is down, as you explained, because the options add up. However, your most frequent complaint is the tires are too small. Yeah, let's make each wheel/tire weigh in at 100lb. of unsprung weight. User can decide whether they need, or actually just want a 2500 series truck.

I feel bad for Nate. His hat is outrageously small for his head, it was especially apparent when filmed from the backseat. There must be a hat maker out there that makes bigger caps, if I knew any I'd send you one.

Really Nathan, there called Rocksliders! Not Steps! Can’t put steps on a off-roader unless you want to rip them off, You know well as I do You know you can’t put 35” tires on that truck, so stop complaining about the 33”s. You would have to re-gear it and definitely have to put steps. So your 600 mile per tank drops to 475 maybe less, ask me how I know because I have 3.0 duramax 1500 Silverado with 35’s and I lost economy big time, and let’s be real guys who buy this truck never off-road them. 95,000.00 after taxes, and GM knows this! Keep your 33’s and keep your economy

Old man nathan making good use of the roman rod. its a good feature. i do agree about the rock rails, they stick out too much. its the aev trim so i can see why they put them on but personally i think retractable steps would be more usable for a lux truk in this price range. i dont suppose you could have both somehow? ive seen better rock rails on a grand c that act as dual purpose steps so not sure if gm or aev messed this one up. how will electronics hold up in the tailgate? it is a novel idea. they do need more power in the bed or a bigger battery as well.

The AT4X is way outside my budget...but how do the AT4 hold up with city driving (3.0 vs 5.3)? My commute is a maximum of 10 miles, but is 100% city. I do some highway driving time to time but primarily suburban USA. I currently own a 2023 Tundra (8,500 mi). I love the truck, but the premature engine failures have me concerned. Dealers aren't even accepting 22/23 trades because of the issue and toyota dealerships can't sell impacted inventory until their is a fix. I bought the extended warranty because i planned to have this 15 years but not if an engine blows!

If i can't get the top trims at a reasonable price, I'll just continue to stay out of the market.

Why do people still think the 3.0 DSL is a good choice?. It burns oil badly, it uses a lot of DSL and it add a lot of weight to the front end.

I think it would be cool to have the off road stuff like the protection, lockers and suspension in a cheaper truck. Like I’d be fine with half the stuff that truck comes with.

I found a 2023 GMC Pro with 13k miles on it and only 34,000 so I got a steal I think lol. No AT4 of course but I just wanted a nice looking and riding truck.

My 2021 with the 3.5 XLT (FX4) and 36 gallon tank can go 600 miles....no DEF and 500 ft-lbs of torque.

it's not just GM it's all of them. It's not just trucks all vehicles are expensive. It's not just vehicles everything is expensive. You can't keep printing money like every county has done and not expect inflation as a result. It's going to take time and consumer pain to fix the problem that government policies created.

My 5.0 F150 gets 600-700 miles of range with the 36 gallon gas tank, I bet it cost about the same to fill up as the 3.0 diesel in the video

Why would you even need a brake controller on such an incapable vehicle? My little 10:48 Tacoma has 900 lb payload which is inane for that little truck. This truck looks nice but it’s clearly a city limited road queen.

The AEV editions have been far too expensive since they became available on the previous Gen Colorado!! 😂😂 it’s the TRD Pro of packaging for GM. (To be fair Toyota is finally making the TRD Pro a more price fair package,but before,,, 😂😂). The package KILLS payload!! 1000 lbs is hilariously low! I would buy other aftermarket products that will do the same job for wayy less $$. The diesel is less than the 6.2 still. It’s a nice option. Get a ZR2 Diesel and add what you like. You will save as much as $$5 digits!!

You guys say you don’t have to get the options but even without options it’s still an $80,000 truck. And as a truck the fact something like a Honda Ridgeline or his Hyundai truck have a higher load rating is Pathetic. 1400LB rating vs a full size truck that comes in at 1040LB🤣🤯 I am willing to bet as soon as you drive this off the lot, if you KBB your truck I would bet it drops in the 60k region so you’ll be upside down 30k on a new truck these days. And have a $2,000 a month payment 😂

Still a lot of money for a 1/2 ton truck, and I love GMC but I don’t believe anyone can justify the price. All I can say good luck to all these dealerships that have very expensive trucks on their lots selling them. There will be a few, but I believe every dealership in the country is gonna have a hard time selling these trucks, you cannot justify the prices of these trucks. If you tell me it has hidden wings and can fly as well maybe, but I doubt that capability has been incorporated in these expensive trucks.

I don't mind these high prices on the special edition dedicated offroaders especially when they're really not that much more expensive then doing a new build yourself. Still overpriced as it should be around 83k. I hate these annoying luxury trucks and the insane prices on the mid level trims.
