I actually really enjoy the "reviews" this guy does with cheaper or older GPUs. Not only are they actually really interesting and informative, but it also makes me feel good with what I have
@@lovekush9103 you haven't seen real graphics Even on 720p there are alot of games that can't run on gt 710 I'd say you need atleast a gtx 1050 for 720p low Nobody should buy a gt 710/730
@@GameFrostYT yeah, some prebuilts use a gtx 1660/1660 ti tho, idk if the super is faster but i know for a fact this the most common one in prebuilts especialy gaming
@@NoobGyver Yea the super is indeed fast but oem prebuilts like Dell (Trash) have low Power PSU's and GT 1030's are mainly installed in those systems. But I see where you're getting at, systems over 500$ mostly have 1660!
@@RandomGaminginHD I picked one up new for €99 shipped. Did you just assume I would've paid more? 🤨🤣 I feel offended. 😤 It's actually a great stopgap now for my brother's friend as he didn't have any PC before. Well, probably a bit unbalanced w/ an i5 10600k @4.9 GHz, but in the end it will hopefully be
I tricked my OEM pc by adding a pcu 750 watts for $50 Also a 24 to 2x4 pin $5 motherboard connectors, just to add a used gtx 1070. $75 And it was worth
I bought one at a sale because it was the best one that I could afford, the AMD cards here are often more expansive than the NVidia cards (at least in the low end).
When I was building my PC, I had to decide whether to go with gtx1650 or a slightly cheaper RX570 (both in the used market). The RX looked so good to be true and I've heard about them being used in mining so I went with the safer option with GTX1650. Also helps that my PC doesn't turn into a furnace when I game lol
Nice to see a review of this card. I bought one earlier this year because I was constrained by power (no 6 pin) and small form factor. I just built a new computer that overcomes both of these constraints but carried the old card over for now. It will be nice to move on, but it does reasonably well for the neural net and nvenc jobs I throw at it.
Pretty crazy how good this card is at 75w. I just wish they bumped it up to at least 6gb vram, but I guess would really hurt the sales of the super and 1660.
Actually the 1650 has been refreshed 3 times with 2 new models. The gddr6 TU116 and TU106, basically these two are clocked higher but has a higher tdp sadly. The TU117 is the only 75w card oof
I ended up getting this one since the 1650 super costs twice as much here and it's not worth it, glad to know the GDDR6 version gets 7-10+ FPS, thanks for the video!
@Ladioz I don't have the disk space for any games, but he has a 2060 now and I'm still using an RX460, but the 1660 is in my closet. My CPU is a bigger bottleneck, but it doesn't matter what GPU I have, especially since my monitor is 1280x1024@75hz.
@Ladioz Depends on the game or application really. Just look at your GPU and CPU usage and see which is hitting 99% while the other isn't. Some games will pin my CPU at 100% while my GPU chills at 20%.
I went from an integrated AMD R5 512MB which is like an ATi HD 4750/ATi HD 8450/Nvidia 8800 GT/GT 800M/Intel HD 4000/Intel UHD 630... to like a dedicated GTX 1050M 3GB or like a ATi HD 7950/AMD R9 280X/RX 560/GTX 680/GTX 770/GTX 960/MX 450/Intel Iris Xe, and to me that is like going from the common cold to covid-19
@@sarath2706 so your upgrade is almost as big as mine since it's like going from Nvidia 6800 GT/ATi 9800/Intel HD 2000 to Nvidia GTX 660/ATi HD 7870/Intel Iris Pro
I just want to thank you for your updated review of the DDR6 because sadly in the USA I was not able to find the super edition or anything really comparable in the price range due to everything that's going on. I purchased this card as a replacement and I do like gaming but a lot of photo editing so your review definitely made me feel a little bit better about purchasing what I did especially considering the lack of options I'm sure we're all facing right now. It's definitely sad the way that the prices are skyrocketing on hardware right now but once again I love your videos.
I've been actively avoiding recommending 1650s for newcomers because I thought they were all still hot garbage, I'm glad there's at least one tech channel on youtube reviewing *actually attainable* hardware to prove me wrong. Great work as always!
The company that built my computer back in January 2021 put an MSI variant of this card in my computer and forgot to bill me for it. I've had nothing but pleasant/surprising experiences with it.
I was going to get a 1650 super or rx 580, but they were both insanely priced, the cheapest one I found was 230 dollars and that’s outside my budget, so I opted for an itx gigabyte 1650 for 160. From this vid I see that it was an okay choice for my situation. Great video!
Where I live a 1650 super is like a thousand more than this one so having a few more FPS is gonna be good. Thanks for reviewing a card people instantly disregard, not considering the possible uses.
Also another feature of some of the GDDR6 1650s is the improved Nvidia encoder for livestreaming/video recording with programs such as OBS. Some of the 1650 GDDR6 cards use the Turing encoder vs the older Volta. The 1650 GDDR6 cards that use the newer Nvidia encoder are the TU116 and TU106 cards.
The original GDDR5 (and the first GDDR6) cards used the 200mm TU117 die. They had the 5th gen Volta encoder, and a TDP of 75w. On 6/18/20, they released a new variant of the GDDR6 1650 using the 445mm TU106 die from the 2070 that uses the 6th gen NVENC encoder and has a TDP of 90w. The TU116 die is used for the 1650 Super and 1660's.
@@RandomGaminginHD im using a GTX 1060 and its not a bad card even today, medium to high settings at 1080p on watch_dogs legion and it gets 60fps, but i wouldnt mind seeing the GTX 1060 vs GTX 970 since the 1060 is suppose to be 10% more powerful Also have you thought about using World Of Tanks EnCore as a benchmark, you dont need a account just download the benchmark and run, it will even let you test ray traced shadows on non RTX cards
@@DTronicsUK Depends on the 1060 I found. If you are comparing the GTX 1060 3GB to the GTX 970 then the result are in the margin of error, sometimes the 1060 will win, sometimes the 970. It's the extra vRAM on the GTX 1060 6GB that gives the card an edge over the GTX 970 with its 4GB (or 3.5 depending on who you ask), with you being able to bump up the settings more and keep better performance.
Yeah, I was so ready to buy the regular 1650 until I read that the 1650 Super is considerably better. So glad I did! It literally gets two times more frames than my 1050 ti. I bought the 1650 Super as a temp upgrade because my 1050 ti was showing its age, and I didn't want to build a PC now because of the lack of stock. I think I will keep using my 1650 S for at least a year before I upgrade. What a great card!
@@センナ-h4c Im pretty sure its 1650ti > 1650 super > 1650 > 1650ti Max Q >1650 Max Q | Since the Max Q gpus are considered mobile, I think they're weaker than their beefier brothers.
So strange to me that a full triple A gaming experience is perfectly achievable on such low tier hardware. I was astounded with the RX 5500XT I bought my girlfriend when I was running AC Valhalla in 1080p at the medium preset with textures set to high at roughly 40fps. My 5600XT can't even get those frames smoothly at 1440p. I'm planning on building a 60fps low-end gaming PC for the bedroom TV, and a card like this for a small form factor might do the trick. Absolutely love these videos, because never would I have looked at a 1650 of any kind and go "Yeah that'll play the newest games at high 1080p" until now. Appreciate this.
@@xtreem0075 I got a gddr6 150w gtx 1650 and valhalla runs pretty damn good, 60 fps with small dips to about 45 when running at 1080p mid settings, although I run with shadows and water on low which makes some scenes look pretty meh.
Here in Brazil there's like a 50 dollar difference between normal and super, so a buddy of mine had to get the normal one. He's still going to be happy with it 'cause he's coming from a 4th gen i3 laptop 😅 You're really on point when talking about availability tho, great vid man.
Tempted to get one, but it's still over-priced, so I've stuck to my RX 570, still don't like the heat it generates but thanks to AMD's driver support it's holding its own against even the 1060.
got screwed over on ebay on my first PC build right as the GPU market was going crazy. bought what was listed a 1650 super for 155 excluding shipping only to realize 3 months later it was just a base 1650 OC. Being new to PC gaming I was ignorantly surprised by its performance. Despite being screwed over I paid pretty cheap compared to current prices for something that is doing what I need it to do for the most part. Pulling for the little guy.
This maybe true last year but right now the GTX 1650 is the best card you can get since it only 250-300$. The GTX 1650s is up to 400$ and they're not even available for sale in many places.
For low end gamers, this is a beast. "Low end" can be different for different people. For example, I am a peasant gamer and consider 1050ti as entry level, 1060 as mid range and 2060 as high end, everything higher are divine hardware only gods can possess. But for some people, a gt1030 can be an entry level and might consider 1060 as a high end card. Meanwhile 3000 series cards owners might think 2080ti is obsolete.
I watch nearly all of your videos and most of the time we rock the same main specs in our personal gaming rigs. We share the same mentality when it comes to builds. I love your content and I've been following your channel since the early days. Keep up the good work! Greetings from Switzerland.
Both GDDR5 and GDDR6 variants are great cards depending on the use... SFF builds especially with older workstations and all of a sudden you can run recent games with 1080p and decent framerates. Also in a used HP entry level gaming rig it runs with an i5 8400 and gets cyberpunk running with medium settings 40+ fps. What more to ask for?
Just bought one of these for my brother in error on newegg, decided to give it to him anyways, this is the only video for the GDDR6 Version I've seen thank you for posting this! Picked it up for $140USD. His had a 6 pin the on the card.

Which compression method are you using for these videos even tho the general quality is great the visuals really look worse compared to many other youtubers? I dont know much about these things mainly my knowledge about the subject comes from 1kliksphilip’s video.
I'm VERY curious to see if you can get your hands on a TU106-based GTX1650. It was launched July of 2020 and is based around a cut-down RTX 2070 core. According to Techpowerup, it still retains all of the Tensor cores and RT cores from its fully-unlocked version. All the cards based on this will have GDDR6 memory AND a 6-pin power connection, as this version holds a 90W TDP. Notable cards that have this chip include the Asus TUF GTX 1650 GDDR6 and the EVGA GTX1650 KO GDDR6. I'm mostly interested if this chip can support DLSS in supported titles, because if so, it could be a very exciting budget entry in order to use DLSS to hit playable framerates at 1080p in otherwise stuttery games.
Love the vids dude. Could you include in your testing how well the cards perform with a quick MSI overclock? Maybe you could make it a whole video showing how well different cards overclock. For example I would guess that a card that takes it's power from the mobo would be more limited in it's overclocking potential than one with a power supply? I was just thinking that the gddr6 gives a similar 5%-10% increase in fps, similar to the boost from an afterburner clock.
I was tempted to get one until I realized how weak it is. I don't think it's a bad card for the money, but it's one of those cards where I would save up a bit more and buy something like a 1660ti which was the card I got. overclocked it and very happy with it.
@Anand Shah you're right, which is why I said it would be better to save up more money. the 1660ti is about 70-80% faster than the 1650 plus it has more vram for $130 more which is a steal IMO. if we're talking about the 1650 super, that might be debatable but I would still save up for the 1660ti or the 1660 super since they have 6GB of VRAM and are a bit faster. by the way, instead of a 1660ti, I would go with a 1660 super since the performance is near the same as the 1660ti and is about 40$ cheaper which is an even bigger reason to save up more for that extra vram and faster performance.
@@OutlawedPoet There's really no point in buying the 1660 Ti anymore unless you really like Nvidia, either get a 1660 Super or shell out the cash for either an RTX 2060/RX 5600 XT, much better value for money
@@alphaasianjosh yeah the 1660 super's value is much better. also, I thought the 2060 and 5600 XT were only 6-8% faster than the 1660 super? not worth the extra 60-100$ IMO. I would only get a 2060 if I wanted DLSS. even then, I would shell out more cash and get a 2060 super.
They're really good for specific use cases. Get a used SFF office PC with an i7, throw a low profile 1650 D6 in it, and you've got a capable gaming setup for less than you'd pay for a console. That's what I did for my kids. Got some PCs with 4770/4790 CPUs in them, finally found 1650 D6s on sale for less than the price of a DDR5 version, and done. More capable than they even need.
Great content as always, straight to the point and very insightful and entertaining, which is great since i don't really understand that much of pc hardware. Been watching for a few years now, keep it up mate.
I got a HP pro desk 600 g1 with an i5 4570 and then paired it with a GTX 1650 gddr6. Its a pretty good introduction to pc gaming for me and the for the games I play (Minecraft, Cities Skylines, GTA5) it works well. It even runs Flight Simulator 2020 decently on low or medium pretty well.
I was lookin at the 1660 super around august or so on Amazon uk and it was £199.99 with free delivery, checked recently, they're up to as much as £250 now lol wish I had'a just bought one back then now tbh.
@@josephscott1870 I got it on ebay bud. I searched with listings for best offer and simply made an offer. Start bid was £60 iirc on a new listing, I offered £90 and they accepted. Nice card too, it's an asus with single fan. I needed it to be small as my 2nd rig is a small build
You know why this man's so special? Because he's good at what he does. And thank you for making such videos because thanks to you I've learned so much about GPUs.
I have a GTX 1650 GDDR6 Version in my desktop I have the Palit Storm X GDDR6 version that has a 6 pin power connector which really helps out as that GDDR6 can push the 75w limit of a pci express slot and my card runs great and will happy boost itself to 1980MHz on the core clock while gaming also don't forget some of the GTX 1650 GDDR6 version come with the Turing video encoder VS the Volta video encoder in the GDDR5 version which really helps in video playback as well
hey hows it going RGHD hope you're doing well. Appreciate the work you've put into your videos , i always come over to the channel to watch your coverage of budget friendly pc hardware over the past couple years, its also fun to watch you cover old high end gpu's. i was a bit reluctant to ask this but would it be possible if you could include monster hunter world in future benchmarks ? if not totally understandable, especially if not many people who watch your videos play that game. Anyways have a good one :) thanks for the videos.
It's the end of May 2022 as I write this comment, and here in Mexico this is the only decent budget graphics card that I can find brand new. Currently around $285USD ($5,700 Mexican Pesos) and since I don't want to risk it with a potentially badly preserved second hand graphics card, I guess I'll go with this one.
I've had a low profile GTX 1650 (GDDR5) for a few weeks now. I like building in SFF cases so it was pretty much my best option. WIth an i7-4790S, I get 120fps on Rocket League at 1080p. Killing Floor 2, 1080p, 40-60fps with nearly maxed settings + Nvidia Flex turned on. Bioshock Infinite at 1440p/60fps. Skyrim SE @ 1440p/60. Warzone at 1080p/60 even if by slightly going over the recommended VRAM usage. I think this card gets a lot of undeserved hate. Nvidia should've marketed this as only a low profile/sff card, as that's pretty much the only scenario in which it makes sense to go with this card. For regular sized builds, you'll obviously want a 1660 minimum, but I'm beyond happy with the performance this offers.
I chose the gtx 1650 Kalmax from palit (completely passive card) for my father as a stop-gap solution until rtx 30 last year. The requirement was at least 3 displays at the same time and ideally useable as a test card (so no power connecter if possible) for other systems and fairly cheap. He even used it to play some Flightsim at 1080p and to my surprise, it did better than i thought and the card stayed at 70 degrees. I was really surprised what 75w low-end cards can do by now. But in January I got an rtx 3070 too many (for just 650€) which he is using now. He got incredibly lucky with his GPU buying, without even trying.
I had to buy the non-Super 1650 because in my country the Super costs $40 more so I couldn't afford it. I bought the Gigabyte 1650 Windforce OC with GDDR6 and I'm honestly surprised by the performance compared to my broken beyond repair ZOTAC GTX 970, I couldn't notice any difference. Sometimes the GPU goes up to 1950 MHz with stock overclock, so I didn't need to overclock it, and the temp never goes over 65 °C with room temp is around 23.
AH! That is why the gold fingers come with covers now. My GT650 did not have one, but suddenly my Team Red 5500XT did too. And I was like "what's this plastic for besides being another piece of plastic to go in the recycling bin?" It is the REVIEWERS who needed it!
How about with 1060 6gb? Still better choose the 1060 right?though 1650 have better psu minimum power uses And Steve could you review i5 4570 with "s" processors?? Thanks in advance bro 🙏
I just got a prebuild with an I5 10400f, a GTX 1650 (not super, sadly) and 16 gb ram (2666mhz) that cost about 649 Euros, do you think i got a nice deal? (Sorry for my english, I do not speak english as a first language )
Seems like a solid low budget card or maybe for a budget 2nd pc for maybe the living room, I didn't expect it to be this good tbh but at the same time I'm not going run out and get one, my evga 1660 super sc has been doing very well & I'll be upgrading in spring when hopefully the nvidia 3k cards possibly get better stock & pricing, one can only hope
I Use this card and love it, dunno why so many haters. 1st thing not everyone likes AMD cards, 2nd On a budget this card was def cheaper then the RX570 and 1650 Super (by $200) 3rd I wish people in there reviews would stop saying to avoid this card. Its seriously not even that bad and runs all games ive tried even high end. Its great if you play esports games too.
you are using anyways rivatuner to log the data, pls show, especially in this case with better VRam the frame buffer usage. i realized by using standard 5000MHz on my 2080 the frame buffer is used heavily, also the GPU load is rising (for lower fps, despite the full GPU clock!) when allowing full memory clock of 7000, respectively 7150MHz OCed, the frame buffer usage is going extremely down, even GPU usage is going down but still maintain a higher framerate. I would be interested in how much the GDDR6 affects the FB usage.
I think this card is very underated. This isn’t meant to be powerful, just meant to flex not needing and power connectors, and can be thrown into most systems
I just got a GTX 1650 a few days ago- the Zotac with one fan. Very small form factor. Figured I'd drop a cheap card into my old prebuilt (had a 745 OEM which was not handling ANYTHING) to extend the lifespan while I wait for the market to stop being untenable so that I can build something more impressive. It does the job. I can play pretty much anything so long as I keep graphical settings low, which is what you'd expect. For anyone with a crappy old PC that needs a small, low power card that can be powered directly from the PCI slot, I guess I'd recommend this. Yes, it's underpowered for a modern card and at 230 quid it's more than I would want to pay for something of this power, but for old PCs with low power PSUs and cramped space, this is one of the few available options.
I currently use a GTX 1650 low profile model in my 2nd PC. as I have a main gaming rig, and a streaming PC. the 1650lp in the streaming PC does really well, and I think is a good fit for it, since I mostly just use it as a daily driver PC while I'm not gaming, and it's also one of very few options for a slim SFF PC.
A Vega 56 (an AIB version) is where it's at these days, if you can get one cheap. They love the latest games with DX12/Vulkan and they all UV+OC like a dream. Still rocking it for 1080p and 1440p.
The 75W half height versions are great for old office PC's; I've got one sitting in an SFF Optiplex with a 7th gen i7, 16GB RAM and a pre-installed 256GB SSD (with NVME and USB-C) for the same price as a GTX 2060. Runs mid 2010's games at 1080p great.
i got a 1650 super same price as these on order it'll b interesting seeing how it does running assetto corsa competizione would love it if you added this game to your benchmarks! thanks for the vid.
Its a great card for certain situations. Back in 2017 people bought pallets of hp desktops with ryzen 7 1700s, 16gb ram and an rx 550 I believe. They pulled the GPS to use for bitcoin mining and sold what was left. I got one of these without any GPS for 150$ and because of the proprietary psu had to use a GPS without external power. I got the ddr6 version on sale. I ended up with a great gaming pc for just over 300 bucks. There isn't a game it can't play if you adjust the settings properly. Honestly i don't need anything more powerful. I mostly play mad max, borderlands, and elder scrolls online... they all look beautiful and play at 60 fps minimum.
I have 1650 super, I love my card but what would be a good upgrade ? My setup; I5 9400f 16gb ram 3600mz Gtx 1650 super Motherboard; B365M DS3H WIFI power supply; 700 gold (gotta check again)
I´m still rocking the GTX 1650 GDDR5 version, and to be honest, its a great card for prebuilt PCs without an additional power cable. I can game everything at 1080p medium - high settings and around 60fps. It served me very well all these years, but now I´m building my Ryzen 5800X beast with an RX 6800 XT GPU.
I believe this is the strongest graphics card you can buy new currently that doesn't need an additional power connector, making it the most powerful card you can use in a lot of older used or budget systems that don't have a sufficiently strong PSU or a PSU that doesn't have additional cables, which is the perfect consumer target for this card if you're looking for something new or really need lower power consumption. Neat little overhated card imo. I hope the next gen brings us another connector-less 75 watter, those are a blessing for the right market.
Can you do a review for the rx 570 or 580? I want to see how they hold up in 2020 i managed to snipe a deal on a rx 580 red devil card for 100€ few months ago but i can't test it on newer games since i can't afford buying at the moment
it's basically a more power hungry GTX 1070. should of of went with a GTX 1070 Ti, or a 1660 Super instead, hell maybe throw another 50 bucks and get a RTX 2060. The card is a beast for its time don't get me wrong. it's just the GTX 1070 Ti variant is A LOT better at + or - the price of a 980ti, with more efficient memory banking and more modest on your electricity bill, if you would compare the two.
@@youtubeshadowbannedme Similar. The 1660 Ti is a pointless GPU where a 1660 Super is 5% slower but way cheaper when in stock at MSRP. If it's not mining it's something else...
