Not a huge increase. We bought a 2018 Pilot Touring and its MSRP was ~$45K. The Elite was maybe about $3K more. My wife loves this car. Gets around 28-31 MPG when we are mostly doing highway travel. In city maybe 24. We just replaced the factory Continentals (hated them in snow) and went with Falken Wildpeak in one size up 255/50-20. Great on Colorado hills and dirt (I do not intend to do off-roading!). 😀 I’d consider a new one but my wife loves it too much to trade. I kept our 2004 Pilot as my “truck”. Just getting broken in at 175K miles. Maintain these vehicles and they will last forever.
Any of the pilots are good. They all have the Honda's super reliable j-series engine. Same engine in all the pilots, 13-18' rdx, mdx, tlx, 08-17' accord, Ridgeline, Odyssey I have 193,000 miles on 12' accord 3.5 auto 5-speed. Newer Hondas got 6-speed autos, then the zf9 9-speed(customers complained), now onto Honda's in house 10speed. already used in Odyssey and 2.0t accords Now in new pilots and mdx
@@alphafiddlesticks5623 the 2007 I bought it at 130k miles. Unfortunately, i got tboned and was a total loss at 202k miles. My 2011 I bought it at 120k miles and still running strong today at 150k miles
According to alot of people, that doesn't go for the new Accord. I'd say it's alr, but Honda's decision to remove the 2.0 L engine made me really disappointed. Some people would like a car that's a bit fast, and can still be very practical and have great MPG.
Went from 2022 lease to 2015 pilot purchased under 10,000 bucks with 82,000 miles. Best decision ever.. no monthly payment it’s a beautiful thing.. plus my 2015 have entertainment screens that allows both of my kids to enjoy a movie while we take long trips. Just wish they were better on gas but everything can’t be perfect.
We just traded our ‘22 Telluride for a Pilot EX-L. Pilot drives so much better and smoother. You can’t even feel it shifting gears. Handling, steering, road feel is outstanding! Telluride has some serious low end torque issues and jerky transmission compared to Pilot.
That's really nice that you can completely remove the 2nd row middle seat. But too bad the outer seats don't have an arm rest once the middle seat is removed. 😕
@@NickLarkins505 oh, ok. That's good then. I saw in another video where they removed the center console, and it looked like there were no arm rests. It's good that it does have arm rests though. Otherwise, that could get uncomfortable on long trips.
I’m a Honda guy that works at a Kia. This looks like it might give the Telluride some real competition. However, I do think the SX Prestige looks more premium. That 7 passenger capability is very nice on the Pilot though.
It looks really nice I like that. It’s not a turbo charge. It’s a real vehicle with real power and real comfort for that price tag is really high. They’re making a lot of money off that vehicle a ton.
Not paying 50k for Korean car. Reliability is not there. How many 20 year old Hyundai’s you see on the road. Versus Honda’s? I see 20 plus year old Hondas still going strong.
People complaining about the price must not have been to a car dealership in the past year--or been outside. Have you checked the price of eggs or your utility bills lately? Time to ask your boss for a raise.
To answer your question, I don't think anybody buy cars/suvs as frequently as buying eggs or milk.....so, that is understandable they when they start looking at the car price nowadays, they got sticker shock.......
@@NJAlvarado612theres a recall that fixes the issue. My '17 pilot never had any issues but i brought it in anyways to check it out. Now it NEVER shuts the engine at a stop. I guess their 'fix' for the problem was just to completely remove the feature
You should be staring at the road, not the screen when you're driving anyway. The screen should be only big enough for clear directions and music options. Any bigger is clutter and a distraction.
@@lkae4 bigger the screen the safer it is. For example when using maps, I don’t want to be squinting my eyes. Plus bigger screens are more aesthetic and practical
@@KUSHGPATEL Did you know that it's extremely disrespectful to make up stuff when you talk to other human beings? It can even be interpreted as dishonesty and propaganda. Did you know that?
But speaking from experience, one could argue that having a bigger screen would result in less squinting. :) I don’t see the problem here. When using maps, I can more quickly get info on a bigger screen. I don’t need to squint for directions. this same logic can be applied to other apps, for example music. So in theory, a bigger screen would be more safer, as one less squinting and second less playing around with the interface, as a bigger screen can house more controls instead of a small screen where some controls are hidden deep and require additional commands to use. Did you know that?
Agree with comments - Looks great and highly functional for families with children (especially removal of middle sear in second row), but $53k? Seriously?
While I do like the new Pilot I just don’t think it offers enough for such a price tag. The pathfinder tops out around $47-48k, the Telluride/Palisades top out around $53k same as pilot but offer more, the new Highlander tops out around $51-52k I think is too expensive but still cheaper than the pilot and that’s the platinum trim the limited trim i think is on par with the new Pilot Elite and is like $49-50k, heck even the new CX-90 seems promising with a more powerful inline 6 that will have two different tunes and a plug in hybrid with prices starting around mid $40k’s topping out around $60k. I think the Pilot trail sport is the package to get here, granted it comes with all terrain tires, and skid plates, same engine, same transmission, the Interior downgrades a bit but still comes with third row seating and panoramic sunroof, and priced around $49k a pretty competitive all around package, since only the new pathfinder Rick creek comes close, the Telluride SX-pro has no skid plates so it’s not in the same category as those two.
As long as you don’t mind the price this is pretty much a perfectly versatile car, great luxury features, space, power, capability and driving experience. This is a great car, my mom bought a new Pilot and owned it from 2007-2021, so many memories in it
Damn I remember when the top trim Pilots just in 2019 were 45k. My dad got the 2019 touring, not elite for 36k out the door after everything only because that one had been sitting on the lot for a while only because of the color. But it was an amazing deal, it was almost fully loaded.
Korean cars don’t have the same reliability compared to Japanese cars. How many 20 year old Hyundai’s you see on the road? Versus the Honda. I see Hondas over 20 years old still running.
Nice but I'm definitely getting the telluride. My telluride will even have ventilated 2nd row! And a digital rear view mirror. And 2 sunroof. And a continuous display to the infotainment display. And it's just looks way sportier than the pilot. Pilot just looks like a minivan with suv doors. With looks and luxury, Telluride has redefined this suv crossover arena. I am not associated with or paid by kia, but I AM very excited about my new telluride next month lol
My advice to friends that buy Korean or European cars. Don't keep them past warranty. Tellurides win a lot of comparisons. I'll stick with my low mileage (114k) 06 Odyssey minivan.
@@dannybryant6873 I'm coming from a 300k '09 odyssey, great vans! And I completely agree about replacing after the warranty ends. 10 yr 100k definitely gives me some time tho. For the record, I could be happier tight now in my telluride prestige xline. It's pretty great!
Niece wanted a new Seinna. But the shortage made them too expensive. So she got a Telluride. It looks nice and Tellurides win a lot of comparisons for family vehicle.
Needs a bigger touchscreen and better fuel economy. Perhaps introduce a hybrid. I'm sure the refresh will get the bigger 12 inch touchscreen like the new Accord.
I'm gonna hang onto my '13 Pilot as long as I can, mainly because you can't permanently disable the engine shutoff at stops. If they ever enable the owner to opt out of that for more than the current drive, I'll be interested. At 110k miles, my '13 is a great vehicle, has never failed me or even had a check engine light, and there's no engine start delay when I need to go. Stickin' with that, thanks.
Sorry Honda, you changed out the tranny for China gears and lowered the towing capacity. There’s almost no cargo space when fully loaded. Telluride has these covered.
Cargo space of the Pilot goes up to 22.4 cu ft. The cargo lid is adaptable so it can go lower to give more cargo room. The sport lx and TrailSport go up to 21.8 cu ft. More than the Tellurides 21 cu ft.
@@davivu the floor can go to the lower level making it deeper this is for the ones that don’t have the removable middle seat. Not even the sales guy, knew this. The top trims won’t be able to expand the cargo due to the dividers and I don’t know if it’s removable. Maybe go and look at one, try for yourself and see. Basically any 7 seater (except Trail Sport) or fixed 8 -seater. Have a good one. 😉 Edit: was at the dealer and the dividers can be removed in the trims with the removable seat.
Oh well, i was looking into getting a new pilot, but my 2013 pilot touring is still running well. a con in the new pilot is honda removed the rear entertainment system, which means kids cant watch movies. i would buy a used 2012-2015 pilot.
Honda Pilot has a reputation of longevity and reliability as per consumers’ reports and professional car reviewers. Kia Telluride 2022-2022 models were demanded for recall by the federal agency for engine fire risk, which has been hand-in-hand with the Korean car brands (Hyundai as well).
Honda Pilot had a recall. Please stop trying to use "reliability" to saved your failing brand when they have too many problems with their transmission issues. Thank you fanbot.
Kia has not had any engine related fires on the Tellurides, the only recall they’ve had has been for the towing harness in some models and that has already been addressed. Honda’s reliability has been worst than Toyota/Kia and Hyundai for many years now, even more than some domestic brands.
The fact that the Accord has a 12.3in touchscreen and this has a 9in is just weird to me. And I hope the MDX gets the same storage for the middle seat in the next refresh.
If I hit the jackpot, this will be the vehicle that I will buy. Sadly, with my current salary and the so many monthly bills (mortgage and other home essentials) plus the “extended” family commitments, obviously I can’t afford to buy this Honda Pilot.
If I'm not mistaken, he left out the 1 biggest reason I might consider this vehicle. this vehicle comes with the option of being a Gas / Electric Hybrid. Where the Telluride and Palisade do not. For myself, any SUV or van would have to be a Hybrid, for 24 hr climate control, since I'd be converting it to a car camper from day 1 of purchase. This does look pretty good though, and maybe a bit more space even than a Sienna ? But Im not sure if Id trust the Hybrid tech in this, over that of a the Toyota Sienna ?
