the song is called 'Bella Ciao', it is an old italian 'work' song, later adopted by italian partisans (i.e. organised armed civilians) during the italian Resistance, i.e. the fight against the Nazist and Fascists forces during the WW2. Oh come on. You don't think there's any problem with patriarchal societies? I'm just going with the low hanging fruit here, but places like Afghanistan were women have close to zero rights. And I'd guarantee it's the same where he is. I'm guessing he's ethnically Kurdish who have a lot more equality comparatively to their neighbours. Just from my own experience of living in Korea years ago, I was a bit taken aback at how patriarchal and sexist the place was. Great for men in my profession, but the vast majority of ex-pat women that went lasted a year. 2 tops. To you it's a slogan, but to the majority of the world it's a fact that patriarchal societies oppress women, just to wildly varying degrees. I don't even think it's controversial when you actually think about it. If you'd give your point of view of why it's BS, I'm happy to listen.

Umm...you should read more about the ideology of who exactly is defeating ISIS and their specific stance on and organizing around women's freedom. I've got a documentary on my channel about just that.

@@NeighborDemocracy Much of what these communities are doing is good - and deserves our support. The idea that "Men are the problem" is not helpful tho.

@@sashman02 I've lived in Eastern Asia longer than you it seems. Men are supposed to be the head of the household. Many of them, instead of loving their familes/neighbors like a good man should, instead, try to rule over them with a rod of iron. That is bad. But this idea that having men at the head of society is "bad", is an evil idea.

@@earlysda I lived there near a decade and your not dealing with any of the points. No one said they don't love their families. They do. It's the traditional systems that were set up to oppress. I'm not saying men are bad. That's like me saying to you "Why do you think more equality is bad?"
