I love that top! When I got the email I instantly thought lengthening it to a dress! As a top a double layer top with the lining fabric in a different colour and hanging lower to add a bit of interest when leaving it untucked for us fuller bodied people!

so beautiful, love the color red you used ,i been looking at my closet as a make more and more ,alot of the stuff i made before kind stays in a dark corner 😀😳,so i thought well time to maybe donate some thinks as i went through it i found so many things ive made before and forgot 🥳,i end up keeping alot pieces i wonder how you do it or if you have a surtin way or u just keep everything, which it's perfectly fine to ,❤🙂,maybe even a video ideia of you going through your makes ❤

That’s a great question! I will readily admit that my closet has gotten quite large. I actually keep everything that’s off season in our guest room closet (which is now quite full 😬). I go through it and pull things for the changing seasons to be in my regular closet (I “shop” the guest room closet). I also go through and purge it quite a bit. My mom and sister often go through and take things they like as well 😂.

I just saw the new pattern and I am in love with it. I saw you picture in newsletter as one of the testers. Looks great Do you ever remake new pieces from her pattern? I still have my recoleta dress cut out, but haven't started on it because my son and his wife frm LA are visiting this week. Have not physically seen then in several years. They also bought me two 9 box shelving for my craft room. Looks great. Now I have tofill them up. Hope you and your family had a great Memorial Day weekend.

How lovely to get to see your son and his wife! I hope it was a good visit! To answer your question, I often remake Itch to Stitch patterns. Some (like the dresses) I only need one in my wardrobe at a time, but others (like jeans and tops), I’ll make them over and over!

Love love love! What type of silk is easiest to sew with...crepe with spray starch treatment or double georgette? I want to try making a simple top in silk...ty

Anything with a little grip will be the best to start with, so a crepe de chine or georgette would be great. I also find a little more heft to be helpful when sewing as well, so a double georgette would be easier to sew than a regular georgette, in my opinion!

Beautiful shirt, love the color! As a new sewist, I'd love to try silk, but I haven't seen any silks that are machine washable. Do you hand wash your silks, or dry clean them?

I wash ALL my silk in the machine. I wash on delicate and then put the yardage in the dryer before I cut into it. Once it’s a garment, it gets washed in the machine on delicate and then air dried. I use a steamer (or throw it in the dryer for a couple of minutes) to release any wrinkles before wearing. Technically, you should dry clean any silk (unless it’s RTW and it could shrink). Dry cleaning chemicals are really harsh on silk.
