I took the Kodak H35N out for a spin to see what all the fuss is about. Also, I forgot to mention that portrait is landscape and landscape is portrait.
Sorry if I missed it, but I didn't hear you talk about the glas lens. For me this is the only improvement that makes it worth it to buy the 35N over the 35.
I'm watching on a phone, granted, so the images are pretty small, but they look pretty great to me. I've been trying out some point & shoots recently and the results have been a mess- I can't believe you're getting such balanced shots when you're stuck at f8 and 1/100th!
Yeah I think the screen size will definitely have a positive impact on how it looks! To be fair, a lot of the pictures were taken in pretty good light so there wasn’t too much that could go wrong in terms of exposure. Glad you like them 🌞
Seems like a cool little camera, but for £55 it seems like most people would be better off picking up any old 35mm point and shoot they can find in a charity shop/eBay. Lens quality and exposure control will be better. Also reduce, reuse, recycle etc
Yeah that’s a pretty easy opinion to have which I agree with for the most part. You can definitely get a far better camera for that price (although probably not a half frame, I’m not sure on the old Olympus half frame prices). But I think the people that are looking at a camera like this want something really basic. If the H35N takes someone away from buying a disposable then I’m pretty happy. Also, there’s a 50% reduction in waste because you’re effectively getting the shots of 2 rolls in 1. Idk why I bothered writing all that because I don’t really care if anyone buys one or not, I just think it’s more positive than some of the potential alternatives for this particular target audience.
@@maxkent Tbf old Half frames are a little more expensive because they’re rarer, still probably similar cost all in! But agree it’s basically a reusable disposable so that’s the market they’re targeting
Max, would you recommend this (or the original H35) to someone who's just starting out with film and wants to test the waters? Or would you recommend something cheaper like the M35/M38/Ultra 9?
Hi! Interesting review! I was looking to buy one of these point and shoot cameras as a present, how do you think this one (or the old h35) compares to the Lomo Apparat that you also reviewed ? I mean in terms of overall quality of the photographs (therefore not taking into account all the additional lenses you get with the Lomo)
Max, can you recommend an easy to use, light, film camera? I just want to carry it with me and have it on hand. Listen, we all have cameras on our phones, but i want a cool little camera! Is this a good option or is there another that is better?
Pls excuse me if you mentioned it already & I missed it. Did you post process these photos or straight from scan? And did you scan it or sent to a lab? 🖤
Actually, alot of us really like the star function …it adds a cool effect to say a night photo that only has one or a few points of light, adding a little intrigue in a portrait of your girlfriend at the carnival or something. Anyway, all the extra features I can get on a cheapo camera I’ll take.
I know that it’s a stupid question but how do I know that the film is done? If I have a 36-photos film, the counter is showing me 72 films or does it end at 36? Actually I don’t remember how many photos I’ve taken and I’m super concerned if I am still able to take another photos with that film 😅🙈
Dumb newbie question Are half-frame cameras a new thing (to make up for costs) or have they always been around a long time even back when we had cheaper smaller format films?
