@@Jrel777 He mentions it in the video but basically it goes that the arceus we see ingame is only a small piece of its actual self, which is backed up in legends arceus were it actually states this for a fact, so we've never seen its full self Now arceus is named after the old alchemical term archeus, and in old alchemy its basically divided into 4 parts. These being the life, light, chemical and the reflective ethers. So with that in mind look at the 3rd legendary of the past 4 generations. There was zyguard (the life pokemon), necrozma (the light pokemon), eternatus (its poison type and its power seeped into the ground so the chemical?) and now terapagos (the reflective) Each pokemon rather alien and with a higher power that allowed them to reach a higher form and empower other pokemon (like arceus's power in legends). So the idea is these 4 pokemon from the past 4 generations are the missing fragments of arceus, and if they recombined with the ingame arceus, you'd get the true arceus back again

Remember that Wortortle was supposed to be different line of pokemon originally and Blastoise and squirtle was its own line until they were forcibly combined. The pokedex entry could be remnant of that.

@@mechashadow Squirtle and Wartortle were created together by Atsuko Nishida as a cohesive line - Blastoise was an earlier design of Sugimori's you can see it in his early sketches before it was given cannons. The baby Blastoise that was in the beta is not Squirtle.

one thing's for sure, terapagos is surprisingly cute. i wouldnt have thought that the pokemon that appears in the scarlet/violet book is adorable and another thing to note is that every major battle in the game combined covers every type, just like how the symbol for every type appears on its back

While you're right (only doubling on types when you finally reach the E4), it doesn't seem like the icons on Terapagos really line up with that. It's close, but not quite lined up. So I'm not sure the two are really connected. The plaza's image might line up better though, the one shown a lot in the trailers.

It also seems likely that Terapagos is going to have another form, one reminiscing of Heath's sketch and Sada/Turo's research showing its hexagonal patterns from their findings since we don't see that on Terapagos other than the Terastallze symbol on it shell but nothing else beside that

Not only does the crystal in the middle line up with Area Zero and the clouds line up with its tail but the peninsula at the bottom left (where its head would be) matches up perfectly with the psychic gym

Well... the reason for Terapagos and Wartortle having the fluffy tail is because they're both based on the Minogame, a turtle from Japanese folklore said to also live for 10,000 years. What I find even more intriguing is that this may be a subtle, partial throwback to Wartortle's ORIGINAL evolution in the gen 1 beta, before its and Blastoise's lines were merged? 🤔🐢

I think you're on the right track, but personally I think Terapagos is based on a different, but similar turtle Yokai, the Hōnengame. Hōnengame are described as having "broad hairy tails" and "fortune-telling abilities" and would approach humans in order to give predictions and prophecies. Also said that their body glows brilliantly which all seems pretty in line with Terapagos's presentation. But it probably has multiple inspirations, seems pretty likely.

People raised a stink about it when PLA came out but it's pretty much accepted now and it's actually just TPC and GF doubling down on something they stated way back in gen 1. It's not new, just not well known due to the article they put that information in was only in Japan and the internet back then was literally in its infancy and running on dial-up.

It’s probably because of the “tera” part of its name. A lot of Pokémon have two words combined into one, making the pronunciation differ depending on which word you see as the main part of the name.

maybe the ability of terapegos will be like the old protean/libero, which makes it change type every turn. that could be a reason as to why those abilities were nerfed, so that it wouldn't clash with the ability of the legendary

Only Libero was nerfed. Protean still switches you every time, it just doesn't trigger if you Terastalize your Protean Pokemon. I use a Protean Meowscarada

@@violeth2255 as someone who uses Mewoscarada with Protean, before I terastalized, it was switching between Dark and Grass as I used Foul Play and Flower Trick respectively. Once I terastalized, it stuck as Grass (it was my starter and I haven't gotten enough tera shards to change it)

@@TrisFireblood those are it's usual types, which are exceptions. Try it with another type and it won't work the same way. It wasn't nerfed to make this legendary stronger though. The nerf was to prevent issues with Terastalization.

What if the Terapegos in game isn’t the same one under the land? What if it’s actually a BABY Terapegos, on the drawing in the book is the egg that it came from. Then like all turtles it left to the sea to grow up, and now it’s returned to land in order to lay its’ own egg.

I'm not too sure if the Paldea region really is a Terapagos. Maybe GF did intentionally design them similarly but in terms of the lore, I think it may just be a concidence since the region doesn't look like Terapagos on other maps like the top-down in-game view, it just looks like the Iberian Penninsula. But maybe the Paldea region is figuratively "riding the back of Terapagos" because of the tera energy it provides?

We could also argue that Dinamax's red coloring means that when taking their giant form, they are taking an altered energized form for them; while in the case of Calyrex, and possibly Terrapagos, they would be returning to their own form they have lost. Meaning the blue dinamax color the return to a lost power/form. Calyrex perhaps lost that form, because as stated in the game: the people stop believing in him, while Terrapagos los His form for the impact of the ultimate weapon.

I think terpagos is also inspired by comets given how it looks and it looks like it could be ice/water type and it might have to do with space as well. I also think it could be inspired by the cardinal beast from Chinese mythology the Black Tortoise that represents water. Given how it is very dark in color, dark blue and almost black beneath the white sheen of the crystal on it, and is possibly water type. That or its another minogame like wartortle.

(When Ogerpon drops below 50% health it puts on its mask and any opposing Pokémon gets an omni stat drop of one stage) Terapogos: Fairy/Dragon Ability: Tera Power (Tera Blast gets a 50% boost and this Pokémon can terastrallize into any type.)

Lets say we do have ourselves a Galapagos World Turtle, that would imply diverse pockets of life with some closely related but still vastly different Pokemon. It probably doesnt lean this hard, but if it did we could either go to our version's Paradox land or find a 3rd one with fossil Pokemon modernized and some already futuristic/man-made Pokemon in a more natural form.

i hadn't quite seen a level of consensus quite like the lead up to this video before, and all i was missing was a *reason* why Terapagos would be losing energy and shrinking, and linking that to the Ultimate Weapon is a pretty good idea! they've already shown they're not too scared to reference Kalos, as seen in some Paradox Pokémon and their dex entries, so maybe one more wee bit of exposition could in fact tell us something like that ☆

My thoughts on this Pokemon and it's relation to Paradox Pokemon have changed how I viewed the Paradox Pokemon. While I still think they are in some form and function the Ancient and Future versions of Modern Pokemon. I now also believe that the influence of Terapagos might actually be taking Modern Pokemon and transforming them into the Paradox Pokemon. I'll be straightforward and say I have never really believed in the theory that Paradox Pokemon are imagined or made up by the Dreams of People. But (and like you pointed out) the naming basis of Terapagos and the location of that species in real life leads me to believe that Paradox Pokemon are modern Pokemon turned into a Primal or Future version of itself. This relation being where Charles Darwin in real life developed his Theory of Evolution. The Galapagos Islands. It sounds weird I know but in a set of games with a Time Machine, that follow a game where a time vortex was sucking Pokemon in due to the power of a Legendary Pokemon going wild, that also has Pokemon evolutions and sub-species that are lost to time. Isn't it plausible that the Tera Crystals can Devolve a Pokemon to an ancient form or Evolve a Pokemon to it's evolutionary Peak? Maybe Walking Wake and Iron Leaves were a normal Suicune and Virizion drawn to the Paldea Region by the power exuded from Area Zero? Maybe they were transformed by coming into contact with a massive surge of that energy? I admit it's not exactly a sound theory and it's easy to poke holes but I figured I'd give my thoughts on Terapagos that would be more than "He's super cute!" which he is.

That's...actually an angle I didn't think about. Of course it should be possible to basically take an existing Pokemon and basically reverse their lineage or fast forward their form to what its closest match in the future. That would explain why the future Pokemon are all robots. They don't exist as they currently look in the future. Not enough features match to the species' descendants and so the robots that were made in the image of past Pokemon was what was used. The only problem is that as far as we know, Suicune and the other Beasts are one of a kind made by Ho-oh reviving the dead Pokemon that were in the tower when it burned down. It's possible that more exist but we don't know that for sure.

Game Freak has always been a bit wishy washy on any added instances of Legendaries we find in games. The existence of the Galarian Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres might give us some idea that even Legendaries could be naturally occurring but that's some top tier speculation at best. However it could be that the Trio we know from the tower isn't the first time Ho-Oh has done this especially if it's supposed to be an immortal phoenix. Maybe there's just ages and ages of these three we don't see running around? Maybe the three we see are just the first recorded and seen instance of them being made? Again speculation but it's about the only reason I can think of for why they would appear in other regions beyond just "It's a game." Fun to speculate and brainstorm on for sure tho.

Note that terrapagos shell has not hexagons but pentagons so either this is not its final form or this is not actually the legendary but another creation by the legendary of what the people thought what terrapogas would look like

Also the image in heaths book has a crown on it and there is a crown on Sada's board. So terrapogas is still just a created pokemon (like paradox pokemon) and the real thrid legendary is just watching the world through it. Terapogas is like a permanently terrastalized pokemon, but not the cause of terrastalization.

However I like ur idea with the terrapogas shrank which is the opposite of dynamax. In corwd tundra Calyrex had blue clouds. Signalling that the future crown pokemon will do the opposite of dynamax kind of. IT is what we see in every terrastal crown pokemon, a shrunk version of the third legendary. Also Why call it terrastal crown if not the crown will re appear on the third legendary Maybe the 2 DLC legendaries will together form the crown for the true legendary pokemon and thus awakening it

Like we still need answers to the code names Atlantis and Titans. Was also a slumbering titan in corwn tundra that later was revealed to be a level 100 regigigas. Maybe Regigigas thought the world turtle and it is why it is stated that it can move continents because the world turtle fled. Still need answers to Nemona's arm and why we dont see her parents at all, like maybe nemona is dead and just an illusion a paradox human. Both nemona and the champion is governed by the third legendary like puppets. Also the league and school has evil staff within them for sure. There surely must come a 3rd DLC to conclude everything imo.

5:58 I just realized that those fingers could be Eternamax Eternatus' head as when the "hand" stretched the finger tips opened like jaws. And the "palm" could be its body where how it fires its moves is like Iron Man's Unibeam. 6:09 looking at this picture and the picture of the Pokemon, I can see that the Pokemon wasn't the whole ball but just the top where the tail is where the ship is on and the head is on the left.

I think terapagos is going to be normal type- the section of shell raised up to resemble area zero looks like the normal type symbol. I ALSO think it’s going to get an ability like what protean and libero used to be, which is why those two abilities were nerfed- so they don’t take away from the power of this legendary.

Firstly, the production quality. Incredible!!👌🏽👏🏽 secondly, this theory is insane yet makes lots of sense. It’s so interesting to see that the shape and contour of Paldea actually does resemble that of Terapagos. I can’t wait to see what it’s lore is about. But I’m certain Terapagos will also have an additonal like that of Zygarde, Necrozma and Eternatus.

The idea that Terapagos is/was the foundation for what would eventually become Paldea actually does also seem to make some sense with Heaths drawing if you think about it. After all, it clearly depicts the pokemon as part of a big sphere, surrounding it. What if this is some depiction of how Terapagos was once a large creature roaming the planet, large enough for an entire region to form upon it's shell.

My theory; what if Terapagos created Paldea by dreaming it into existence? And part of its story in the DLC will be preventing Paldea from disappearing because someone woke it up or made it mad.

Terapagos don't have 6 letters, unlike what it's name is supposed to be according to Sada or Turo. So maybe Terapagos is the child of the Paldea-sized Tera Pokemon, and the ancient one is dying. And now you're tasked with protecting terapagos from the evil researchers at Blueberry academy

the lore behind the pokeball is that pokemon can be shrunk down and the pokeball can store them while the pokemon is smaller. It would not be surprising lore wise, that terapagos can be small.

I think that, if this theory is true, then the type scales/shards on terapagos’s back are the origin of the terastal phenomenon. Each shard on that ancient paldea gave the pokemon in that area the power to terastalize, and once the ecosystem changed and biomes shifted, the pokemon spread out into their modern-day areas and the pokemon scrambled across the region. This also explains how Tera Shards work, with the shards being the pieces of Terapagos’ old, shedded shell. Once you collect 50, it has the power to override the old tera type, just as terapagos did years ago.

The drawing of the disc Pokémon in the book is the tarastalized form. That explains the crown. Plus some leaker (I may be wrong) said there is a new machinic. So that explains why it looks different. The long tail you know

I think it would be cool if you had a look into the works of Jules Verne and HG Wells as inspiration for this region. Been reading Journey to the Center of the Earth and seeing some interesting similarities. Explorers decend into a dormant volcanic crater that sits behind a twin peaked mountain. Once they decend they see creatures and plant life that remind me of the prehistoric paradox mons. They see a forest of Mushrooms(Amoongus), there's deinotherium and Mastodons(Donphan)to name a couple. There's a 12 foot man whose face is hidden under a tangle of hair shepherding mastodon, (AZ has a donphan). There's more that I cant fit into a comment. There's also other work of Jules Verne with potential inspiration, like 20,000 leagues below the Sea, Floating City, Paris in the 20th Century. Then with HG Wells you have the Time machine being a potential inspiration but havent looked into that one quite yet. Would love for you to explore these ideas and see if you agree there's any potential connections

I've read Time Machine and don't see any semblance there, but I do definitely agree with the Jules Verne connections. At my Scarlet endgame I had two teams: one for the E4, and another based on science fiction (Journey, kaiju, etc.) to accompany me on the descent into Area Zero.

You know it's also worth noting that although it's obvious that the Tera- in Terapagos is a reference to Terastalization, that is also kinda like... SO obvious that it distracts from the fact that Tera- is preeetty darn close to the prefix "Terra", which ofc refers to land. But given that 'Tera-' can mean 'trillion' (or a huge number in general) OR apparently refer to its Greek origin as the word 'téras' which means 'monster', I think it makes perfect sense that they would chose the prefix that a) makes the names look better aesthetically and b) makes this reference, (if we're correct,) a less obvious one. ANYWAY I definitely love the theory. I hadn't seen any of the memes (somehow) so I got to see it from you with fresh eyes and you presented it very convincingly... -gestures upward- ... I mean CLEARLY. 😅

Raifort says that the crater itself is over one million years old. She doesn't say that a blast created a hole in something else, and I don't see why that would be obscure knowledge. People know about the Kalos war (and Darkest Day). I think that Terapagos modeled Paldea after itself.

In scarlet version in the lighthouse lab you can read a magazine that talks about roaring moon: "April Engines of Paldea, file #04 Roaring Moon: A Primeval Salamence?! This elusive creature is called Roaring Moon after a similarly described being in the Scarlet Book. It looks similar to Salamence when they undergo a certain phenomenon elsewhere in the world, but it's unclear if there is any connection. This creature scatters feathers as it flies around at high speed seeking prey. It's thought to be more savage than Salamence, and if you encounter one, it's imperative that you avoid actually contact."

I dont really like the idea that the region is the third legendary, was it or its ancestor, but game freak may have designed it with that in mind to either cause speculation, or hint towards terapagos before its reveal (like doing a mario map in the shape of a star) also it's weird that the dlc is the treasures of area zero, when for both halves it looks like we're leaving paldea possibly grabbing pokemon for something like the crop circle room, im interested in the corner logos for the dlc

It's probably titan terapegos. I actually believe there is multiple terapegos that exist that come together to create a even bigger creature the true third legendary with interlocking hexagons not pentagons. It kinda reminded me of this theory when you said it was the world turtle so it may be of that scale. I have some different takes too just those two popped into my Again.
