The New Lighting of the Acropolis | Audiovisual Launch Event

In a time filled with darkness, all we can do is seek out the light. On Wednesday, September 30, 2020 the new lighting of the Acropolis was presented with a unique audiovisual event. The contribution and implementation of the project was done by the Onassis Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Sports, and Eleftheria Deko, breathing new life into the marbles on the Acropolis.

Ακόμα μία φορά επικό !!! Χωρίς αμφιβολία οι παρουσιάσεις της Αθήνας ,της Ακρόπολης σε αυτό το βίντεο ,η αποτύπωση ,καταγραφή των φώτων και ο συγχρονισμός με τον ήχο αξίζουν παγκόσμια κινηματογραφική διάκριση τουλάζιστον . Συγχαρητήρια Αλέξανδρε σε παρακολουθώ εντυπωσιασμένος εδώ και πολύ καιρό !

What about we rebuild the acropolis just a bit? Not too much. Just the roof paradigmatically. Would that be feasible? I know whatever concerns the Parthenon, there are those that always get mad, even in the slightest change and I get them, but the results seem marvelous.

The roof is actually the last thing that could happen. It was also the first that was burnt (more than 1000 years ago). Right now what they are doing is to try to reassemble the original marbles that were fallen around the Parthenon, and wherever needed, filling the gaps with modern marble. But unfortunately thats a very demanding procedure and takes years. I think that right now they are working on rebuilding part of the North inner wall of the temple. In any case in order to rebuild the roof, we must firstly have competed whatever exists under it.
