Warning for others DO NOT USE BESTA for aquariums they bent over time even with reinforcements! The cabinets are only rated for 25-50 kg depending on what size you get. I was extremely lucky my aquarium didnt burst as the surface of the cabinet was bent over 4mm!
Looks great, I need to change my home office and this has given me some ideas. I was looking at the Besta units but IKEA says they can only hold 20kg, which would mean not suitable for tanks....did you reinforce them?
@@equinefunkNope, the tops of the cabinets will start to bow/sag over time. Literally just finished replacing the tops of mine with 1” hardwood and 1/4” plywood backing. Started bowing after a year from 10 gallons but now they’re solid.
Congrats for the new fish room it looks awesome, be sure to make a lot of happy memories in it! My hat off to you for convincing your girlfriend for using the bigger room! greetings from Belgium ( groeten uit Vlaanderen ) !
Buzzy Space has a great product. Acoustic wallpaper for room sound quality. You can get it in any color, self adhesive. you can even get it printed for visual qualities.
i have a small dinning room and four fish tanks .i decided painting completely in white so now the room appears to be larger. but i can see your room looks great in dark and the lights add contrast. congratulations and greetings from a cuban in miami 😮
For your rock and wood collections, could you possibly fit filing cabinets into that space? Yea, moving the products will be a hassle, but it'll pay off once you can just easily slide a drawer open to get the item you need.
Damn mark... je hebt goed uitgepakt! Wat een vette kamer man. Goed georganiseerd! Toffe kleur op de muur! Wauw. Ben benieuwd, wat je met de kleine uns tankjes gaat doen. Groetjes geert
Congrats on the new studio! Looks great! Be careful with the IKEA Besta cabinets though. They are made of cardboard and will bend/squish over time regardless of reinforcements. I have a 150L 100cm tank on a 120cm Besta cabinet reinforced with a double layer of 18mm plywood and wood beams inside, and it's still sagging. Building a new cabinet as we speak..
Great! I am also super excited for you MJ! 🎉 Love the colours and natural plants. Please be careful with the Ikea sideboard, hope it takes the weight. Greetings!
you should paint the ceiling the same color. it will make your room feel bigger and make the tanks stand out that much more. i had black walls and white ceiling in my office/fish rm for yrs and just painted the ceiling and baseborads black this yr.
I have a 120cm Bestå cabinet and it started to sag quite a bit in the middle with my 100 litre tank. I highly recommend to prop up it up from the middle to the floor.
For the crates of rocks, why don't you just pry off the second and third slats of the bottom two crates? Then you can have access to the rocks from the front without having to take the top crates off every time? Just a thought. The space looks very cozy. Best of luck!
I think the colors of the room are perfect .. and keeping the ceiling bright is a great idea as well. Can't wait to see all your future videos. Your aquascapes are my favorites!
Wow Mark, it looks so good! Well done! Maybe one time I could come over and do room tour lol! That would be amazing! Anyways, good luck with everything!
Thank you, wonderful girlfriend, for being so understanding! 😂 horizontal rack shelving for boxes of rocks, easy viewing and easy handling. Leaving a couple inches below bottom rack allows room for cleaning up inevitable rock dust. Great idea attaching a mag bar to cleaning cart, I attached one to the wall behind my main aquarium. Sound is a bit echo-y. Beautiful, thanks for including desk set up!!
Love the new set up! I can’t wait to see the new foresta set up I commented on MD aquascape channel about it two I love the uns brand and wanna see more fishkeepers use it! Keep it up you always make my day!
Wow! The new studio looks so beautiful. Very well planned and designed with passion and love. It seems that everything here was perfect for a studio. Everything you require to make great content is here. I'm so proud and feeling great to see you have moved up to thr next level... Now lets have some great tanks and cool content!
The room looks fantastic! Great colour choice! And nice to see you finally have a proper editing space! I'm launching a nice bit of hand drawn crab art pretty soon that would pretty nice on that blank wall space if you'd like a free sample 🤣 I think it would fit pretty nicely for future potential projects 😉
Always love your videos huge fan from India love your work. If you ever came to India I will take you one of the biggest aquarium market. And I bet you will love that.
hey MJ, I have one question (sorry not related to this video) about setting up my aquscape with a darkstart, after a few weeks and scrubbing all the mold off, in one of your videos you say to completely drain it and put new water after adding the plants, my question is, is that new water just tap water that's treated with conditioner? Or did you already have water prepped that is alive and good for the plants, if that makes any sense 😅 thanks for all the content! love it
Looks great! I wish I had a big apt with its own dedicated Fish room. One can wish. For your rocks and wood, why not get a black metal shelf to put those crates on?
Very nice setup, never cross in my mind Ikea cabinet able to hold such a heavy tank because they are built from particle board with filling. I am afraid the top panel will be sagging and create stress to the tank bottom.
Your new studio looks amazing. I do hope that you will reinforce those Ikea cabinets. They are rated at 30kg top load, so, far below what you have on them now.
That's a brilliant studio you've created. Very happy for you! You should have a long hose with a valve on it so you could just put that in a drain and close it off from the room when the water level is low enough. You deserve to not break your back carrying buckets, especially not with that many tanks. Just a thought!
Would love if you did a full explanation video on the RO system. I purchased one because my tap water is unreliable, it's arriving in a few days but I have no idea really how to work it.
Beautiful Office; congrats on getting a proper computer setup! Gotta say though, liking that new shelf over the old one is some high-purity copeium, it's way too industrial and doesn't look nearly as classy or modern
