In 2021, Moto Guzzi is celebrating its centennial with an all-new V7 range! It comes in two shades, "Stone," with a matte/black finish, and "Classic," in colors, stripes, and chrome. Mechanically, both versions are identical with 67HP, 853CC longitudinal V-twins, dual exhaust, 6-speed gearboxes, and shaft drive. The torquey V-twin has been improved for more power and torque, now 50 lb/ft, along with improved emissions (Euro5). The suspension has been redesigned for improved handling and at 480 lbs wet, the V7 offers a smooth, stable ride. Starting just under $9,000, it's a lot of style and substance from a cool off-beat brand.
Moto Guzzi wanted me to ride the new V7 so badly, they put me up in the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs, fed me dinner, and provided the bike, insurance, and Larry Chen to shoot the B-Roll. We should all be so lucky.

If you would've told me four years ago that I would be riding a high mileage Italian motorcycle, I'd have laughed in your face. Well, a 6500 mile round trip (averaging about 500 miles a day) cross country trek from Ohio to California and over 80,000 miles of faithful service have made me a believer. I bought it to be a sedate cruiser and "back up" for my Triumph Street Triple R... since I got the Guzzi, I've put 4000 miles on the Triumph, and 16,000 on the Guzzi. There's just something absolutely magical and endearing about a Moto Guzzi. Between the look, sound, character, history, and the way the bike makes you FEEL, it's unlike anything else. Also, you have a 10/10 chance of making friends at the gas station with strangers who used to have one or "is that a Moto Guzzi?? I haven't seen one of those in YEARS!"

These are most unique mass-produced (less than 10k) a year bikes in the world. Matt is new to bikes, so I'll fill you guys in. For less than most Triumphs (if not all), you get a HAND built bike from Italy, made in the same factory since day one, from the longest consecutively running European motorcycle manufacturer. Guzzi is older than Ducati. And with the right aftermarket pipes, the exhaust note from these bikes are UNBELIEVABLE. Yes, I have one, and Todd at GTmotocycles, who is a Guzzi specialist, put those mods on mine. The problem is, like all bikes these are neutered by euro standards. If Matt got on mine he wouldn't even think it was the same brand. It's a beautiful beast.

(I swear I don't work for them, it's just the only place I go to for my bike and one of the few places in SoCal that is actually qualified to work on them). It's his pipes I put on. I eventually did the headers too, which is totally worth it as well. Did does a custom tune as well, which is a must for these bikes.

Currently own a 1989 Moto Guzzi Mille GT 1000 cc that I have had for 20 years. Once took me 120 miles on one cylinder at highway speed when one spark plug wire crapped out on a Sunday morning with no shops open. At almost 70 years old it has gotten too heavy to maneuver in and out of situations. Purchased a 2013 Moto Guzzi V7 Stone at more than 100 pounds less wet weight. Absolutely love it. Will stay with Moto Guzzi for the rest of my riding life. I have owned BMW, Laverda, Ducati, Moto Morini, Triumph, BSA, Zundapp, Indian, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Cagiva and loved them all for different reasons, but the fact that I can physically handle the weight of a bike that will cruise (illegally) at 85-90 mph for as long as I need, looks good, is reliable and affordable and unique, why shop anywhere else?- -Mike Battle

Moto Guzzi are on a charge. Absolute genuine motorcycle built in the country of origin with a stack of heritage 👍 unlike Triumph who's sales are declining. No longer built in the country of origin but trade off British Heritage with a brand name with chequered history.

Re: Fuel guage, I've got a 2016 Griso and just having the light has not been an issue. Most people I know, myself included, just use the A trip odo to track the miles per tank so I know pretty much exactly how much fuel is left at any given time.

Ridden hard, my past 2007 GRiSO only ever got to 100 miles per tank. My sphincter was twitching after covering 119 miles at 80 mph on a motorway. Sadly, I had to sell it in 2015. It got to big and heavy for this old man. It was always going to be a struggle when you're 5 foot 1 inch. But, 25,000 miles and I only ever dropped it over at a standstill twice. But I loved it.

Most cars I've owned didn't have a fuel gauge. Always carried a stick to check the level & a metal marine gas can in back. It ain't rocket surgery!

My 2010 v7 Classic doesn’t have a fuel gauge, I just so the odometer and fill around 100 miles to be safe, or I’ll do the slosh test from my dirt bike days

Its sounded.good . My ealier model.v7 did 96,000 klm before i sold it . In that time i did two batteries and one clutch plate . The bike is still going to this day .

I had 4 bikes including a BMW GS and S1000rr. I bought a V7 ii for my wife and fell so in love with it I pretty much stole it and everything else sits. Then bought another Guzzi California 1400. They are absolutely great. Simple and reliable too. You will not be sorry.

Don't beat yourself up for the 750. I believe the 850 is 60 LBS heavier. So there are compromises being made. It's been 9 months since you posted, how are you getting along with your 2020 bike? I just bought a 2016 V7ii, 750cc. I like the fact that the torque maxes out at 2800 rpm & stays flat through the rpm range.

They had some electrical niggles when they switched to injection, but their engines are rock solid.... And the access for checking the valve gaps couldn’t exactly be much better!

M-G makes wonderful real world motorcycles. They are very sturdy, you can do almost all maintenance yourself if you want to and they are not too exotic for any good motorcycle mechanic for more extensive repairs. Of course they are a little quirky and unique but they are super solid practical and fun. You don’t ride a Moto Guzzi to race with squids. Not the point. They are fast enough for normal humans and they handle really well. Race yourself maybe. Then go ride around. They are made really well. You can adjust your own valves and service your own brakes etc. And.. the Guzzi rider family is very welcoming, cool, engaged and world-wide. It a good thing, M-G.

They talk about these sized bikes as being 'entry level'. The 1968 Honda CB750 which was regarded as a huge superbike was also 67 horsepower. How times have changed.

I've got one, with just under 200 miles so far. I'm 6'3" and it's comfortable for me. You will enjoy it. It does have a clonking noise in the Gearbox on the upshift, but that may go as it beds in. It's not noticeable on the downshift. Other owners I've spoken to have noticed it too. If you get the chance, get a test ride. You won't be disappointed!

If you're so leggy that your knees are at too tight an angle you need to rotate your hips forwards. That means moving the bars away from you. If you sit on a chair with your legs tucked under you, you naturally lean forwards to be comfortable. You may even need to change the bars. Average male height in US is 5-ft 9-in (slightly less than Italy), if they made bikes bigger to fit 6-footers that would be only 14% of the population able to ride it. All Guzzi are built for 2-up. Meaning it doesn't care about your weight. Adjust the preload on the shocks. When I got my V7 I was 280-lb and rode it 2-up as well, didn't bother it in the least.

Have found the dimensions of fairly recent models of the V7 to be very small even at 5'8" and 165 lbs. They also seemed to vibrate more than a 1960's motel 25c vibrabed! This one sounds like MG may have addressed some of these type of issues.

I just had to decide between the two. Previous Guzzi Griso 1200 grenade. And 4 Triumphs. The Triumph won because the comfort seat and backrest was $480 US but the same for the Guzzi was over $1000.

The bike looks great especially the tank and the attention to detail but I still felt the vibrations at highway speeds? I thought it supposed to smooth out what was your impression thank you. The huge question is can you handle the shaking for an entire day of riding

One thing I noticed is you that you are always riding or driving near the rev limit. On a twin with a nice torque curve down shift and use the torque. It is much more enjoyable and just as fast.

Hmm, your HP, Torque and Weight figures appear to be off according to Guzzi's NA site. Perhaps I missed it although I did not see any mention of the suspension's performance. While the new V7 may be better handling than the earlier V7ll and V7lll's, the older Tonti framed bikes were highly touted for their level of handling quality.

I love it too and have a V7III. The engine was originally designed, in the early 60's, for use in the Fiat 500, but Guzzi could not provide the quantity Fiat needed.

As a Moto Guzzi owner I approve this message lol. Now this V7 850cc is a cool bike but we all know that you need to try a more substantial model from the Guzzi family. May I recommend my bike Moto Guzzi California Audace 1400. I'm 6.1 and I fit grate with space to move so I recon U would feel much more comfortable on one. The best think I can say about an Audace is that it rides like a big naked bike (XJR 1300 or GSX1400) rather then a cruiser. It handles better than anything is size amd weight should. Plus the brakes are from a previous gen Aprilia Tuono v4 so it stops better then any over 300kg motorcycle I know. Electronics are from Aprilia as well (thanks to the Piaggo connection) you got 3 riding modes sport (veloce full power sporty throttle) normal (tourismo full power normal throttle) and rain(pioggia kills power by 1/3 and makes the throttle less direct). Plus you have 3 stage traction control that you can switch off if you want to "smoke some tyre" lol

V750 owner here. The review was spot on - it is a great combo if you want to have fun. It's wonderful looking too - people think it's 2x what it costs. I can see from the video that mine needs an exhaust - it's too quiet.

I’d have a new V7 Stone tomorrow, but only if I could have the normal looking headlamp off the Special Also twin front discs would be essential with the extra power as the single front disc always seemed on it’s limit on the previous version Oh and the twin dials , also off the Special I’d happily tick those option boxes as everything else is Perfect 🏍🙏🏻

Wow, 6,500 rpm redline on the tach! My 2013 has no redline on the tach but the soft limiter doesn't kick in until 7,200 rpm. Very interesting.

8:52 Your RPM warning light was factory programmed for the break-in period. Reset it to 6,800 RPM. Your rev limiter is actually well above that.

Love these bikes but if 220lbs is too much for this bike what would you suggest as a little bit bigger? Triumph T120? My problem is I'm a solid dude but with a short inseam at a height of 5'11''. I always thought the front forks on the V7s looked so cheap and puny.

How dare you. A V twin almost always sounds better than a parallel twin. Jokes aside, I could see how someone would cross shop a Bonny with this. For me, Guzzis are usually what kills Harley from my list when I am shopping for a new commuter bike. (As in, if I want an obsolete, cool cruiser, why would I bother with the SOA Thuperfan Harley when the sensible, beautiful Guzzi is an option?)

Yamaha’s MT-07 engine sounds epic for a parallel twin.. But the crank angle on them means they are basically a v twin just with the cylinders next to each other.

I've loved the sound of a Triumph or BSA since the 1960's! Same for a BMW R69, a 441 Victor or a Kawi H1 Mach lll screaming past my house. But I ❤ the music of my 🎼🎵 V7 too!

Moto Guzzi has better heritage then Triumph as well. Has traditional Engine and drivetrain with that legendary Guzzi small block.

The Triumph engine design is much different than the old days. It seems the MG engine hasn't changed much other than the FI & ECU.

For those roads I think 4th gear would have been the magic gear. I too thought he was riding high in the rev range.

Totally incorrect, anyone who owns a Guzzi understand they should be revved, especially these small blocks that are nothing like a big block. That said all Guzzi's should ideally NOT be ridden below 4000 RPM as the pulse from the motor is harsh on the uni. Riding below 4K a lot will see your uni die very prematurely.

@@smeghead61 Thanks for the tip! I just brought a 2016 V7ii & haven't got it registered yet, so I've only been up & down the driveway in first gear. The New England roads are so dirty with salt & sand, that even with registration, I won't take it out until after a good heavy rain.

@andycatone It ain't his bike. Most people I know will beat the snot out of someone else's vehicle. That goes for 2 wheels or 4. But to let you know, my Honda CRF250L requires at least 5k RPM to get moving. I forgot what the redline is, but 5 - 7k is pretty normal cruising RPM. if my friends ride it, I bet they are way over 7k.

Sod the "second" motorcycle bit. I'd have this as my two-wheeled life-time companion. Absolutely beautiful. A little bit heavy, but a relatively low seat height to compensate. Just about the only Italian product I like (apart from balsamic vinegar, but that won't get you very far down the lane). Just needs a fuel gauge and gear indicator (yes, you DO need those these days). Nice one Guzzi!

The V7 is a modern classic. Nothing fake about it. The Bonneville is a retro-styled modern motorcycle. MANY fake bits on it. No comparison, really. I'll take the MG any day.

I like the spec of these bikes. With the Italian history of motor vehicle quality, shall we say chequered, I'd be worried that it would corrode fast in the wet UK climate and require a lot of spannering. First time I've watched this channel, thank you and well done!

On day one, put a dab of dielectric grease on every electrical connection. I remember my '71 Bonnie ran best on a rainy day, that's here in New England, & B4 I even knew what dielectric grease was.
