I currently have owned a Moto Guzzi Mille GT for 20 years. It once took me home on a 120+ mild trip on one cylinder at highway speed when a spark plug wire broke on a Sunday morning and no shops were open for repair. I also own a 2013 Moto Guzzi Stone 750 which I love and which weighs about 100 pounds less than the Mille. At almost 70 years old, the lower weight is welcome. I have also owned Moto Morini, Ducati, Cagiva, BSA, Triumph, Laverda, several BMWs, Indian, Suzuki, and a couple Zundapps and Kawasakis. None of them have given me the riding enjoyment and the simplicity of maintenance than the Moto Guzzis. Mike Battle

Braking - what you have there is not just a four pot but Brembo's finest asymmetric four-pot. It's very progressive - used normally and gently it feathers nicely but if you give it the big squeeze it will slam the bike to a halt. The rear is a very effective twin-pot, again progressive, it feathers nicely for bends but if you apply more pressure will drag the bike to a halt smartly. Use front and rear to stop quickly, not just the front, the ABS won't let you lock up and the MGCT will balance them out. Two companies were used in the early development of Brembo's brakes, Ferrari and Moto Guzzi. They've got this one very well sorted.

I have the exact same bike, owned her for 2 months or so now and clocked up a very enjoyable 1200 miles and I love her. I’ve had no problems what so ever and she hasn’t missed a beat. These are excellent bikes undeservedly deride by some people who have never owned one. Yes they aren’t the fastest bike around but you don’t buy a Moto Guzzi to break speed records you buy one for the comfort, heritage and beautiful Italian style. All I can say is take one for a test ride and you will want to take it home and keep her forever.

I went for a test ride with a Stone S model and I was sold to it after on km! Got mine on June 18, 2200 km done until, and just love it, such a unique bike!

Same V7 III Night Pack, same colour. Got it from the dealer on march 7th, total lockdown in Italy started the 8th XD. Anyway, since may I've done nearly 4500 km (2800 miles) included a 590 miles weekend, from north italy to Tuscany, right after concluding the running-in phase. Not a single issue. Actually behaves better with each passing month.

@Bo Libor Kroupa Just noticed a slight final drive leak on the wheel after first maintenance... may have been overfilled, 170ml is easily reached.. so keeping an eye on it, as it is my only downside so far! Here I'll have to winterize the bike from October to April, which makes our riding season very short!
@jean-francoisauger9912
@jean-francoisauger9912 3 года назад
@Bo Libor Kroupa You see, there is consistency with those Guzzi! At least your mechanic show you the problem, mine was washing the bike when I picked it at the dealer! But it's really after that I noticed the oil 'lines' on the rim, but it's less and less everytime now. I checked the air vent for any obstruction, but it let the air pass, then the oil level and it was just under the bottom of the opening.. I called the dealer and the chief told me also to keep watching it. Yes I live in Canada, Quebec City precisely. We usually start riding mid-April, to mid-October, so 6 months, not much more! The closer I went to Czech Republic was in Austria many years ago..I envy european road, here, highways are well maintained, but secondary roads are usually bumpy.. Well let me know of any other good or bad news with your V7! Mine is red btw, and yours? Ciao!
@jean-francoisauger9912

@Bo Libor Kroupa Hi Bo, I've seen and registered to that site too after first occurence.. I went to the simpliest solutions at first, hope it won't require all seals change.. I went for the red too.. I like a motorcycle to be red! The Stone S I tried at the dealer was beautiful, bar end mirrors, stiched saddle, leather strap.. but here it cost $3800 more than the Stone, for basically the same bike... Well, the bad roads make one's practice countersteering! Take care!

Good review! I got a silver V7 Special this week and have all of 45 miles on it. But what a glorious 45 miles it was! Very interesting and beautiful bike.....certainly unlike anything else, which makes it just about right for me. Gobs of torque, great sound, great looks, super comfortable upright seating but with a slight sport bike peg positioning, all at reasonable price (got the Black Friday special deal). This is a GREAT bike.

I've owned my V7III Special in gloss black for about two and a half years now and have no plans to change it. It is a very engaging bike with bags of character and I love it. Best bike ever. Mine had a stiff kickstand but a squirt of WD40 and a bit of 3 in 1 oil cured it for good, springs back lovely now.

Thanks for that review. My son has the exact bike, colour as well. He loves the bike and the only problem has been the starter switch, the whole switch assembly was replaced by M&P Motorcycles, but no other problems. I used to have the V50 ll many years ago, probably the first one in Wales. Regards, Bob M. South Wales

I don't care about bikes or cars, but my dad was eager to show off his new all black mg v7iii stone. My jaw hit the floor, it's breath taking to look at. Even to me, someone who doesn't care about anything mechanical, its easy to see how other bikes could just seem ugly in comparison.

I have much more impressive bikes on paper. S1000rr and GS included. I love my V7 and would not part with it. Hard, exactly, to put a finger on what it is but it had me hooked within minutes. They will go FOREVER too if you take care of them. Which is very very easy. Great bike. More people should own them all things considered.
@GS-xg4nz
@GS-xg4nz 3 года назад
I'm falling for this bike for sure. Researching used ones now in my budget. A couple of biker pals tried putting me off MG, partly as the nearest dealer is 200 miles away, but it'll be out of warranty anyway and from what I can make out, a good independent mechanic should be able to service it. I'm useless with spanners.
@autonomousindividual7780
@autonomousindividual7780 3 года назад
@@GS-xg4nz They are very simple as far as maintenance and to pass up a great bike based on concern over something that likely wont happen, that being a major issue, is a mistake. Id hate to jinx you but I doubt it will be a problem. Its kind of like the endless obsession with oil choice despite nobody ever losing a bike to a worn out engine. It just might be that once your buddies try it they'll want one too. I bought another guzzi 2 weeks ago and love it too. A California 1400.
@jeffslade1892
@jeffslade1892 3 года назад
I don't know why you keep saying it's heavy and difficult to handle when 200kg is considered light weight. All Guzzi handle well and the V7 is the best handling of them. It's not twitchy like a sports bike nor cantankerous like a cruiser. It's not a sports bike, the relaxed fork geometry makes it prefer a straight line, but this also makes it stable in bends. The maximum lean angle is until the foot pegs scrape, and it is still stable then, maybe under 40° and lower than many UJM, but I would not encourage a newbie to go that low even when the bike is begging you. Unlike something like a top-heavy Honda it doesn't need lifting out of bends. If you're getting thudding from the back end the preload is set too high, it's supposed to be softly sprung and well damped; set correctly you do not feel potholes.
@davephilpott6569

Reving as you go under a bridge should be compulsory in the highway code 👍
@BikeMatters
@BikeMatters 3 года назад
Couldn't agree more.
@jeffslade1892
@jeffslade1892 3 года назад
A double-declutch near the exit sends the sound down the tunnel/bridge which if timed right will reverberate back as a loud 'whump' coinciding with your emergence. 😎 This should be practised on every occasion presented. The Guzzi V doesn't rev like a UJM so there's no need to make it howl in an ungentlemanly manner when you can get it to sound like a cannon and have observers diving for cover.
@jeffslade1892
@jeffslade1892 3 года назад
Not heavy and the low CofG makes it feel lighter than it is, usual reaction is, "OMG it's light!" The dry weight, which is what is needed for comparison to other bikes is a mere 189kg; Speed Twin for example is 196kg dry. The brochure blurb, "Ideal for new Guzzi riders with its reduced total weight and size" is a bit nonsense as it is heavier than the previous model.
@pietervermeulen67
@pietervermeulen67 3 года назад
Kerb weight of the V7III is 209 kg’s. That’s with fuel and all other fluids. The III is not particularly more heavy then the previous model.

Lovely positive review. It's not retro, these latest models are the most modern the factory in Italy has ever produced! Been an owner of Guzzi since 1981. Simple style and rewarding to ride and maintain.

Hey Gary I have a 2015 v7 mk1, no abs, no traction, but it’s only 179kg, 20 lighter than this. Only real difference it’s only 5 speed not 6, which the mk2 and mk3 are. You can get them way cheaper mine came with a set of zart pipes, beautiful sounds, I absolutely love mine
