Lily Green discusses the severe decline in the mental health of teenagers, imploring parents and educators to take tangible steps towards improving the mental state of the American youth. Lily Green is a senior at Newberg High School. She is currently the President of Key Club, President and founder of Newberg’s D.E.C.A. chapter, a business program, as well as a member of the board of mental and physical health for her school district. Over her high school career, Lily has spent summers volunteering at Medical Teams International as well as attending Oregon Association of Student Council conferences. Before the pandemic, Lily was an OASC Capitol Ambassador for the state of Oregon, a member of Newberg’s Varsity Girls’ Rugby Team, and a preschool teacher at her local church. During the pandemic, Lily has spent her time doing what she loves most, activism. Lily is an advocate for a women’s right to choose, Black Lives Matter, and mental health and hopes to continue her advocacy throughout the rest of her life as she plans on attending an international university, majoring in political science and international relations.
