Having been using the outbreak method for shiny hunting/testing myself, there are few steps thats can be skipped here to save some time. You don't really have to battle the pokemon or even reset your game all that often. When I find an outbreak all I do if fly over to it to check the pokemon, if there isnt a shiny then I'll fly back to Jubilife to reset the spawns, then save my game. Visiting an outbreak increases its chances of it staying on your map, so you can visit the same one sometimes up to 10+ times before it eventually despawns. Once the outbreak disappears off the map then I'll reset to my save and go at it again. I've already gotten 12 shinies this way, most appearing within less than 10 trips. edit: make sure you save every time you head back to camp after checking an outbreak. That'll ensure you'll keep moving the seed forward every time you reload your game.

Thats definitely an interesting take! You're basically gambling the odds of 4 spawns being shiny as opposed to getting 10-15 spawns each time. Fair enough! I think it's probably best to jet ball and catch them quickly but do what works!

@@wolfiemuse According to Centro leaks only the starters you select from, Arceus, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, and quest pokemon are Shiny locked. There are other legendary and mythicals which are not. Such as Manaphy and the genies

For people wondering why they haven’t seen a mass outbreak yet and you’re only at Kleavor, if travel between the highlands and jubilife you’ll eventually get one. The fewer areas you can travel to (only 1 if you’re at kleavor, 2 if you beat it) the fewer chances you’ll get an outbreak since you won’t have as many areas that can have an outbreak. You’ll just have to reset more often.

@@jearbear5903 yea, so right after I beat kleavor and talked to big boss I did a couple resets and after like 7 resets i had an outbreak of staravia, 4 after that I had an outbreak of starly. You might just have to grind out the resets until you get lucky. Statistically speaking it shouldn’t take too long.

One thing I would say is always finish your mass outbreaks 100% before resetting (aDrive dipped with a few scyther left) because you can get more than one shiny, I personally have caught two shiny Pokémon in one mass outbreak and I saw somebody in the shiny Pokémon subreddit found FOUR. There’s always a chance!

I love the new method of having higher Pokédex levels. It’s much more streamlined to get rewarded with a higher shiny chance for doing what the game wants you to do anyways

Any reason why after some time the outbreak reduces in spawns? There’s been a few times where it’ll go from like 10 Pokémon and then drops to 6 or 4.

@aDrive Why do you save after entering the area instead of before? wouldn’t saving before allow you to always reset for the same pokémon rather than having a chance of losing that outbreak? or am i mistaken?

Yes, this is what I'm curious about. If the spawns are created when you enter the map, can you just save in jubilife when you see the outbreak you want, and then go check it and reload back to jubilife? Why is saving in the base camp necessary vs. in jubilife?

My first distortion showed up in the Crimson Mireland area. The bottom right part. Across the river that runs right through the area. And this was just after beating Kleavor. I spent a long time trying to jump across the river on Wrydeer. By the time I figured out that the very top of the map had an area I could cross, the distortion disappeared. I was so ANGRY!

This method is pretty good! I personally have used another I saw on reddit that was a bit different, but still got me a shiny scyther within an hour and I only have Scyther with research level 10. The method is as follows if anyone is interested, not taking away from this method, everyone has their own way: 1st - Find an outbreak you want. Save IN jubilife village before entering the area where your wanted outbreak is. 2nd - Enter area and go to your outbreak. Check what's there, if no shiny, return to the village. 3rd - Once back in the village, check first if your outbreak is still there. If it is, save again, then enter the area and check the outbreak again. If it isn't, reload your game and try again. Outbreak chain can stop at any time, so if it does, a quick reload of the game to try again should work to keep it going. This method you don't have to keep closing your game. Just going back to Jubilife, seeing if your outbreak is still there, saving, then entering your outbreak again. Granted you only see 4 at a time. Happy hunting :)

I think something you did in the video that people could barely see was resetting if the outbreak you want didn't show up again. Which is kind of important, and the reason you save at the basecamp.

I believe in one of his recent videos he states that he plays with autosave off. I you like autosave then I would only turn it off for shiny hunting so that you don't accidentally autosave and lose resources.

According to Austin’s video, if you turn off auto saves and save in the outbreak area before starting it, you can just straight close the game and reopen it to the same outbreak instead of trying a different outbreak. Unless I misunderstood.

i believe you've misunderstood, unless you go back to town the spawning mons will remain the same if you save infront of them and reset you game.

:( As of the update today (27/02/22) this method no longer works, as when you leave the outbreak area to return to the village, you lose the outbreak. So gutted as this method really worked for me.

If you save at Jubilife Before going into the area with the outbreak, you can keep your outbreak you’re looking to farm. Saving in the area will not reset until you go back to the village which might make your outbreak disappear

My very first outbreak was of Machops... Didn't even really know this method yet, but low & behold, got a Shiny Machop my very 1st outbreak & very 1st shiny of PLA. It was an AWESOME experience! Absolutely LOVE this game 😁
