Pretty sure their statement about the simplicity and one button does one thing is based on how many people can't get into traditional fighting games because of complex move sets and one button having multiple different moves. The game looks like there's going to be depth, just not like a traditional fighting game. I don't think they were talking about simplifying it more than something like smash, just more relevant to games like soul cal or street fighter. I do love fighting games and this looks great so far. Looks like a mix between battlerite with smash wincon and physics in smite's 3rd person format.
@@roric6769 I think in essence the game will play like battlerite, just with knock out physics instead of health bars which I'm super excited for! I miss battlerite
Smite has 1 button movies with no combos... This is exactly like arena in Smite if it were 3d and mixed with the logic of Smash... So if that guy likes Smite, which it seems like he does, how does he have reservations about this? Lol... Smite has no combos
It was fun playing with my other 2 friends for when we played the alpha? I dont think it was beta? We got sent some invite codes and the game was pretty decent
Having received an alpha code and just played it, I can say that it is EXTREMELY fun, especially with friends. I was given three codes to share and me and my friends had a blast. Its hilarious and unique. You'd think there isn't any depth or skill to the game, but the handling on the controls and your reaction speed is where the skill lies. Mechanics wise, it can take a bit to get used to. I can see the struggle players may have as it's hard to break out of a juggle and your entire team can be juggled by one person. Also if you've been knocked out and you jump towards the edge, it'll automatically latch on and pull you up. This feels a little clunky and it won't always happen. Also the Hard AI bots are friggin HARD alright. Otherwise, there aren't very many problems other than taste. I never saw any bugs either. Each god has a jump ability in case of knockout, the rest of each gods kit is unique and reminiscent of their Smite counterparts. Thanatos hovers and has lifesteal, Izanami can go invisible and Athena can tank like crazy. I'm really excited for this game and cant wait for its release!
3:07 thats his q abilitie, his ult is a barrier he sends forwoard more like his 2 in Smite. Same with Athena. The ult is on the right with the percentege meter. Played a few games with friends seemed a bit janky which is to be expected for an alpha but super fun. You kinda get what they meant by saying its the same idea with smite, bringing other genres in the 3rd person perspective to be more connected with the action.
The game is fun, and may sound simple, but i like that you can pull some interesting combos off your abilities than just only using them. Each character having a unique auto attack style and skills being swapped around, like Thor's ult in smite isn't his ult here. And hitting with Arthurs enhanced sword is one of the most satisfying attacks I can think of.
one caveat, the "make it accessible" thing probably won't (and shouldn't be) changed. i think a lot of yall confuse every game as something meant to be played hyper competitive and fully suited for esports but that is literally not the goal for platform fighters like this. its just supposed to be a fun couch game to play with your friends. i also don't know why you think they'd classes in this. the whole point is everyone is a fighter, nobody is a tank. than having healing doesn't mean they'd add tanks. its just standard in these types of games that more = easier to knock out. so some characters can reduce their health
I like the different approach to a platform fighter. A lot of games try and copy Super Smash Bros cause they were extremely successful instead of creating their own ideas. This looks very promising though
if they introduced an item system similar to smite's to help diversify gameplay, it might help make it less simplistic. maybe equipping 3 items that can boost either already good stats on a character or help with something that may be lacking could be cool. like an item that decreases knockback by 5-10% or increasing power by a flat amount or defense even. could be a fun idea if done correctly.
@@unclientrandom5371 imange if smash bro if every characther had little mac or chrom recovery. And if there was no super armor on any skills and all skills have a ten second cool down and auto attacks have pirorty over landing and cancel and put skills on cooldowns
Played the alpha, it was really fun, but the fact that the only populated servers atm are NA, the lag is insane. That said excited for the release and I hope they have servers in other regions
Rumbleverse style gameplay, platform fighter game design and objectives. Seriously if you guys don’t know what rumbleverse is, this screams that game, exciting too, cause that games combat is very fun
I actually do have an extra code i got a while back, for pc, not sure if it still works but i would be happy to give it to you. Think of it as a thanks to all the work and laughs you have done.
As a smite player and a fan of both traditional fighters and platform fighters I think this is the wrong direction for a platform fighter concept using smite gods. The three dimensional approach takes away from the nuances of a well designed fighting game such as counterplay like a good parry/counter system, a command grab system to counter raw rushdown approaches etc. There's just no way to make this not a mindless fall guys or gang beasts style simplistic brawler that depends more on environmental interaction to get a KO than pure player ability and skill, also it just seems impossible to properly balance a game like this because of the fact that random physics interactions are going to determine the win condition and you can't nerf/buff a physics engine into a balanced meta. When I heard smite fighting game I immediately imagined what Riot is doing with Project L which is an upcoming fighting game based on the League of Legends universe, as a huge fighting game fan I was immediately enticed with this concept but my excitement all but floundered after I seen what the project actually was and this sucks, because honestly Smite translated into a 2d platform fighter in the same vein as smash or multiversus would've worked so well. Kind of disappointing, I'll give it a go when it's public access but I'll probably get more into Project L when that comes out next year or this little known "God Fighter" game they announced at Evo, which is going to be a traditional fighter based on classical mythology.
I think you are mistaking physics driven and physics using. Gangbeasts full relies on physics and inputs are just suggestions. Smash bros uses physics in the way of how hard you get hit and fly away but the hit boxes/attacks and animations are code driven. DKO seems to be more of the way of smash in which the game is driven by scripts and not random physics. Physics refers to the juggle and falling aspect not to the attack/defense and skill animations.
The gameplay looks fun, but the artstyle might take me awhile to get used to, I hope they would have "skins" that change them to their default Smite design.
This looks great. Where can you try the alpha or is it beta now? Smite took some getting use to but ended up being one of my favorite MOBA type games. Its third person perspective makes it stand out and be a change of pace from the typical MOBA games.
Oh boy, i just love when publishers try to run after the latest hype. This will be another one of the dead on arrival games from hi-rez like their other smite spin off games I already forgot the name off
I'm not fan of brawlers games but I loved this. Funny thing is because I hated moba games and i just loved Smite and i already play it since the alpha test in 2011. So lets go!
yo if this do get released I'm gonna BUST. THERE will be a disturbance in the force. while the matrix breaks apart. and angels ring out in an immaculate chorus as Chuck Norris descends from the heavens. I've wanted something like smash bros for pc for awhile as I've been too broke to get a console after I saved up forever just to get a decent pc. and what they do have for pc isn't really that great and most don't even have a small community still playing them.
I have hope here, but platform fighters do run into that issue of they’re so accessible that they then have almost no depth to their systems I really wish we could get more traditional fighters for stuff like this but it’s only a hope
I got in the Alpha some time ago already. I asked for it for PS4 but it's PS+, which I don't have. I really wanna try out the game but sadly enough I can not, yet. I hope when the game has it's release that it wont be PS+ because that will already take a huge amount of players out the game. (sorry for bad english haha)
looks fun but imma pass platform fighting games just havent been fun to play as of lately for and also not a fan of the chibi style but if they ever decide to pursue a game like Project L then i might give that a try
i want to play smash bros but I don't have money I can play brawlhalla but that's too complex I can play smite but I cant change the region to south east Asia but I can play one of my favorite games in one of my favorite genre's later this year
I can't be excited for another Hi-Rez game to be honest; I really want to be but it's just so hard. Their complete mishandling of almost all the new games they develop just makes me weary of anything they announce. From Paladins to HoTG to Realm Royale, and Rogue Company...Hi-Rez just can't seem to learn to manage, or market, the games they newly create even when they might have massive potential. Part of it definitely has to do with what I coin to be "Hi-Rez-hubris" and often times a "We know better" attitude (looking at you OB 64). I really do hope this game does well though, unfortunately with Hi-Rez's track record I don't think this game makes it past June 2023.
It might be unique but slaping in some chibi smite characters looks like a cash-grab, but heh ! pokemon and lol find a way to branch out of their genre so maybe smite gonna make it also. i just wish one of the big names of moba would really try to innovate and make the genre progress instead of trying to monnetize their brand.
This isnt unique. There's already a game like this on PlayStation. Its called Rocket Arena. Its a 3rd-person, 3v3 arena hero-shooter with a knock meter and blast zone. Think smash bros mixed with Overwatch
as i get older, i don't like high mechanical skill quick button combos. I prefer a more thoughtful game, positing and forward thinking over raw mechanical ability. Also, over time i've grown to actually hate fighting into 0ms TTK or combos that happen faster than the speed of light can submit my inputs to the server and the server deliver them to multiple clients...makes no sense to have such insane timings when round trip pings with the time for the clients and servers to perform their calculations takes "x" amount of time, where "x" is always much longer than the mechanics of the game need to perform and feel nice.
I was able to join in on one of the Closed Beta's through Rogue Company, since it only required one to sign up for it and receive a shareable code. The Game in itself was surprisingly lacking any major bugs tied to the various Hero's, that is, outside of the floor sometimes deciding to go Transparent. Though, the game itself feels a bit unbalanced. Alongside having a floaty-esc nature to everything you do.
I got the code and messed with it, it just feels like smite but with extra movement and platformer knockback mechanics. Not as fun as multiversus at all imo
I don't think that this will take off. They have tried it before with other games that included smite characters, but those game got abandoned a few months after. So I am not going to get excited or get any hopes for this game.
