The new staff in osrs oldschool runescape the Warped sceptre is so broken for ironmen, its the newest magic weapon from The Path of Glouphrie and is the little brother of the trident of the seas. Livestream - • New OSRS Quest! The Pa...
both rs3 and osrs have historically had massive gaps in midlevel gear--esp for mage, so for longeterm health of the game its fine to fill out the mid levels--esp using quick legacy quests that can easily be ported in from the old rs3 files like this ones.
It's basically just an item for ironmen since they can't just go buy a trident. I doubt you're gonna see normal players actually using this, it makes little sense.
If you think about it, the game should be designed around 'earning your own skill progression' --regardless of if thats how it ends up in practice. So while this may be a 'dead' item, to your exact point, it fills an excellent niche for natural earned progression, and is a harmless quest reward. its good content@@_Professor_Oak
If there's an update that justifies ironmanscape it's this. The magic option gap between iban's and 87 slayer is insanely big. Iban's you can get within your first week of making an ironman, and then your next upgrade the trident, usually takes people multiple months of decent grinding to get to the slayer level required to farm it. We needed something in between the two
@@ltsalljesus You're not wrong, but when you're grinding for hours on end the runes can become a little scarce all too quickly. With the diary, going to barrows actually nets profit for runes while using the Iban's staff, but if I were to switch to ancients or standard for higher level spells I'd go into the negative or it'd be terribly inefficient. When you get to bursting though that's when the scepter doesn't even matter cause you're right, masterwand lol. But going to bosses, single target spells, or non-burstable tasks where you want to use magic, this thing is going to be amazing. Honestly though, I can only really see myself using this at barrows to save on death runes.
Fears of ironscape are Redditor catastrophizing. It is good when Jagex caters to all accounts, including and especially those that aren't maxed mains. There's been tons of content for enfranchised players with 2k+ hours in the game this year, giving lower-leveled accounts a desperately needed bridge between Ibans and the 87 slayer staff is an excellent inclusion
Honestly, most things I've found that were crazy good for iron men, also gave me the will to live as a returning player trying to get through quest grinds, favor grinds, and skill grinds. It's very nice. For example rune crafting at GOTR, Tithe farm, Trempross, Giant's foundry. All of these updates helped out iron men a lot, but nobody seems to consider, returning, or new players with little experience who don't want to do dailies, or spend 16 hours grinding a boring ass skill for a quest/diary requirement. I would rather dump 8-10 hours into the game doing something engaging, and that will reward me with notable upgrades. For example Tithe farm got me to 70 farming for SOTE, and I got the herb sack, both really nice upgrades for my account. And both done without having to get on every day.
As an Ironman getting burnt out on doing so much slayer for trident, I’d say this is a win. I’d like to see how this does against Seren the SOTE final boss
Worse than Ibans until 81 mage, and at that point you would want to be using blood blitz instead for Seren, unless you have a ton of brews or are doing the p neck method.
The main thing is being able to do damage with magic and still use certain spells and utilities is annoying as you can be on any spell book. One example is wanting to take blood spells to dks, can't do that with an IBAN staff as you need to normal spell book to cast Ibans blast
The staff animation evokes the feeling of being an apprentice wizard who is not confident in what they are doing in holding the staff away from themself. I think this is neat.
Fine with adding more mid-game weaponry tbh, pretty much every update nowadays has a heavy consideration for ironmen but they do probably make up a large % of the game
This update is not only for irons, its update for mid game accounts. dont forget tridents still have a heafty mage level to use even for a non iron. Max players need to stop looking at ever update like it needs to be some insane end game boss with a crazy upgrade. lower players need updates to and this one was just a god send to early game irons and low accounts pre 75 magic. also this thing doesnt out dps ibans untill you have 81 magic. while ibans is a 50 magic staff from a quest.
Very nice 👌 but side question that I've been thinking about recently. With trailblazer returning. Will brimmington and fklastrecall be making a return? Especially with all these map gear and quest updates. That way you won't have to completely restart stats and what not while also not being maxed. I've been rewatching that season for the 3rd time and why it entered my mind 😅
if the game is becoming "ironman scape" id like to know what could be added that would benefit a main only. either way especially if you're a new player there is a massive gap like you said between the iban which you can get very low lvl and a trident requiring 87 slayer. this is a decent mid game new item for mage to keep up with item progression gaps. anything that would benefit a main would more than likely improve quality of life of an iron in the process. this line of thinking is just not logical to me, its game improvements for all.
All the 2200 players see content for lower level players as “iron man content” when in reality, jagex needs to appeal to the new players more, and worry about end game content less.
I wouldn't say it is that strong for Irons. You need 81 Magic for it to hit 20s; before than, Iban's is better DPS. It also is a far cry from the Trident. At 81, it is 2 max hits below the trident, but this gap only grows as you level with it being 4 max hits lower by 99. So it will only start to get really good into the 80s but by the time you get to around 85-86 Magic, the Trident is a lot more DPS. The main benefit is being able to use Thralls at a lower level, but before 81 you'll be losing DPS over Iban's which offsets some of the DPS gained from the thralls. If you were to use the Warped Sceptre at 62 alongside Thralls, it wouldn't surprise me if it was pretty close to the same DPS of Iban's at that level since the Warped Sceptre only maxes 16 at that low of a level. And even at 81, it is not that big of a change since Irons could already use Undead Grasp at 79 Magic, which is on Arceuus and very comparable to Iban's (1 less max hit or same Max hit with Ahrim's Staff). So it is a nice addition but doesn't change that much for Irons. It won't replace the need for a trident, but it does give a slight upgrade for Irons before they get a trident. Other styles already had similar steps in their progression, like how Melee doesn't have to go right from D Scim to Whip and can get upgrades like Cudgel or Zammy Hasta to bridge the gap.
@@wafflemonkey8083 considering the fact that he recognizes that it only hits 20s at 81 magic but at that point has more dps than iban's (which has a max hit of 25) it seems he did indeed account for it
we have been needing more mid lvl gear for a LONG time. idc if Ironmen benefit more from this update. The important part is we are finally filling out the mid lvl gear for newer players with affordable options. 10/10 update.
@@chungusultimate let me just go kill Zulrah 500 times with my bronze crossbow and red dhide real quick.... You absolutely need gear upgrades for all levels.
As ironmen i love it for barrows on ancient spell book freeze a brother and kill it. No need for prayer pots even at med lvl. Only 2 chaos rune casted with like chaos gauntles would offer more xp. But if getting runes aint a problem go for it.
It makes more sense to have some items in between these massive gaps, I wouldn’t even call it ironmanscape since as a normal player before the g.e would have to work for it. I think the g.e has caused the hatred between mains and irons lol (but I like the g.e so I wouldn’t change anything)
I think making NEW BIS gear all the time diminishes the value of currently used gear and i'm glad that they don't keep releasing a new awesome best thing for every update xD Overall I think it's neat, and honestly i can't believe it only uses chaos runes though
I think a lot of things that benefit irons also benefit new players, so I'm cool with it. As a main player, it won't help me, but it's good for the health of the game.
Plan for a future update to break down staffs or combine to hold more charges 😈. Either way money to be made! Bought 10 for 180k ea and sold for 280k ea!
That staff is kinda sick, NGL! Might get it on my main for collection log and shits and giggles. Definitely gonna get it on my iron when I get there though! Thanks for the info! 👍🏼👍🏼 - Machinist_2
People enjoy different game modes, an update like this only helps people who like to play this game mode and doesn't hurt anyone else. It's silly to fight amongst ourselves for enjoying different aspects of the game, lets be happy for our fellow ironman or PvP players when they get something good!
i mean to be fair 90% of updates that come out are just new bis items im glad they finally look at the game and go yeah maybe not everyone had 1.5b for a piece of gear and there needs to be more stuff for the casual player
I don't play OSRS outside of Leagues but I enjoy watching the content. Have they said if Tortoise Shells will serve more of a purpose in the future? In RS2 they were useless until the release of Summoning so I don't understand their high value in OSRS.
Oh shit that swamp tar is actually fucking huge. Im kinda more hype for that lmao. The staff slaps for my lowbie iron but my god the tar helps early herb
I feel like it is kind of like Ironmanscape to a degree. But any player can benefit from anything in the game. Not everyone starts up with mills or knows how to get the mills at times. This is a good bridge for people who want to have fun and do not have a lot of ways to make gp etc..
Yeah will make a decent difference I believe and tbh will make the Ibans staff a stop gap weapon like it should be, not best in slot until 87 slayer lol.
Nothing wrong with releasing new, lower tier content. It is filling a needed gap for ironmen, but it is filling a gap for normal accounts as well. New content = me happy, despite if it benefits me or not. I'm a noob and have not done any bossing beyond barrows yet, so I get no benefit from any high level content updates yet. It's nice to see an update aimed at me :)
Warped scepter is 4 tick, Iban’s is 5 tick (and apparently 6 tick when running while autocasting) so that plus the option to run thralls, ancients, or lunars if you wanted to make it better in certain scenarios
It can only ever be good that lots of people play OSRS. If lots of people want to play ironman mode, it makes sense to give them an update that is only for them, especially one that takes nothing away from players who play other modes.
You're right in that it fills a gap for ironmen accounts but if you think about it everything will benefit ironman accounts more than mains? Unless you exclusively keep releasing high tier end game content increasing the power creep further. Obviously this wouldn't even affect a low level account because you can just buy everything anyway so you may as well buy a trident. I'd say it would be hard to benefit any sort of main account whether it be low/mid/high when anything will be better for an ironman. They cant only release end game content because there aren't only end game accounts. And all mid tier content will always have more benefits to an ironman acc than anyone else.
as a main and iron it just seems like a place holder its not better than the trident but it can get better than ibans but i would still use ibans as long as it does more dmg then go to warped but if u wanted to make more people us it RS just has to give the trident an addition requirement like atk/slayer like 73 slayer even tho it drops from a 87 slayer monster people will say there making things easy for iron men i agree but then again we also dont have ge after all so we have to grind all the way to 87 slayer to use trident on top of that we use ibans/burst until we get there im a 2000 total lvl atm iron so idk its not a upgrade for me if they make another staff thats better than the trident it would have to be a slayer task lvl 95+ monster or even lock it behind a super hard boss or even another 1/5000k drop rate monster or even another raid and yes i know the sang staff is a thing right now im working on green logging toa i only need staff and helm left
well this trident in particular could help you get to cox and solo it faster if you know what you're doing. besides that and butterflying akkha, i'd just use ibans to not have to deal with thralls.
Its an alch for mains if the 90k alch is true... It doesn't beat Ibans until 81 mage but you can wear trident at 75 magic and trident is dirt cheap... so its quite literally useless for mains at all points
ironman here, been using ibans blast until just recently when i finally got trident. not excited. im not happy. im angry. and upset and mad! no but rlly cool stuff, just wish it came out 5 yrs ago bc now im angry upset and mad
@@johnfranco7037 oh cool thanks! Probably an old feature then with that low of xp! Definitely not very efficient if you’re buying them from the GE haha
I think this trend of people saying they're making things easier for ironmen is kind of weird. 1: it's an incredibly popular game mode, of course some updates would be catered towards it 2: Filling out gaps in gear progression in universally a good thing, and this gives a much needed upgrade between Iban's and a Trident. It's a good in-between for ironmen and mains alike. 3: I hope they continue this trend. Right now the progression for ranged weapons is terrible. Most irons go from a Rune Xbow to Bowfa. That's insane and invalidates a lot of content.
o kinda cool. i was thinking about a cheaper swamp or sea. this seems to be that. plus its like a 100k on the grand. making it kinda cheap. edit o crap sea is cheap. i looked at the E version probably :( and was using ibans cuz its so cheap and good dps. but now ima switch up to this one. and beat seren with it.
i think the fears of ironscape are unjustified. Updates that fill out the game for all accounts are better overall. If you have already are 2000+ total level, the gear isn't for you, good! I haven't even cracked 1400 total and will be using the staff. More mid-game that isn't locked behind hundreds of hours of grinding is GREAT! I'm not even an iron man.
Idea for "then we fight"= you each fight a boss until you get 1 unique (could be all bosses or a limited amount and you choose which ones but they get locked in), but you have to stop killing it until you get that 1 unique drop. So you could hit big and get bandos tassets (wearable unique) or something, or get a godsword shard and have to move on. Slots wise, you can only use the wearable uniques in the fight, if you got non uniques like rune armour, then you can't use it in the fight. Could make for a super fun fight, hope you read :D
talking about using this scepter in max mage seems irrelevant as you will never have an occult before a trident anyway unless you just for some reason don't get the trident
I don't know how this makes it ironman-scape though? It's just a good, cheap mid level staff for newer players. Just because something doesn't require 95 magic and out dps every other item in the game doesn't mean the game is ironman-scape.
What? It's not JUST for iron men, it's for lower level players aswell, new and old. It also entices newer players to come join the game through easier mid tier progression, cmon guys
The only annoying thing is that mid-level ironman are not likely to have a cannon, tons of cannonballs, as well as access to enough prayer pots to use prayer killing these lol. Probably gonna be a tad slower killing them one at a time using food but whatever. Also if you're an iron you do need 59 Fletching and 59 Smithing, which is worth mentioning.
Fair points, I think an ironman not wanting to waste cannonballs or ppots its worth taking them on in the other areas with less of them and the damage should be fairly negligible
I rocked my d scim there pretty afk in the room with 2 torts for a few hours and 192kc later spooned mine no problem. I only went to bank 3 times, used maybe 60 karams 6 super sets, and 3 prayer pots. They drop a lot of food
Why do Jagex need to only bring out content for endgame? I don't have an ironman nor do I want to but It's a bit weird saying bringing out more content for med levels is becoming ironman-scape.
Just the fact you have to carry runes and charge the ibans is sooooo annoying as well as expensive if u cba to run into the pass so this staff will be noght and day 👌
As an ironman I absolutely love this. The worst part of using Iban's is that you need to keep recharging it which is either a huge pain in the ass or very expensive and a minor pain in the ass. Warped scepter was needed honestly. Really needed.
Not really that great for irons. If you don't have 87 slayer you probably aren't ready for content where a charged staff is great anyways. Meta is to get bofa for zulrah anyways. I guess maybe for ToA or those unwilling to grind slayer but theres still so much locked behind slayer and it's a great way to train stats i think it's far less useful than people think. (I'm only 86 slayer but I won't bother spending my time on this staff)
You are right! Was debating grinding for it but now that you say that i never mage anything atm other then barrows. Dont think its worth the grind when i already got 365kc at barrows and alot of items lol
Your take on the Ironman thing was a bit negative NGL. They are doing updates for all players not just focusing on Ironmen, but they do atleast recognise ironmen as a valid play style which they support. The quest is a follow on and not the peak or end of a quest chain. So why does it need to have the best in slot item for killing mutated terror birds? Also you cant be so negative towards it and then use a click bait title... I like your and rargh content but this seemed abit salty from you my dude.
I didn't really have a take, I'm on the fence as I say I wanted to know the communities opinion on the whole "ironscape" thing I keep hearing because I really don't know how I feel about it all
Fair play I rewatched your end review and I know you said you don't know how to feel. It was just the tone of your voice which kinda made me get the vibe of negativity towards Ironscape. I get it's probably hard to make any high dopamine content from this mid level drop especially as a main with high stats. But it's good that Jagex are making improvements across all levels of the game. I watched your whole stream of you doing the quest and it was a great laugh as usual, watching you figure it out. Thats where the content comes from on these quests, You as a person. So thanks for what you and Rargh do. @@LinksOcarina
@@LinksOcarina I play ironman because it encourages me to engage with a much wider set of content and rewards, I think that's what the mode is for, I doubt Jagex are intentionally making content for Ironmen, rather Ironman mode is a reason to be excited about any well designed drop table. I like your Then We Fights for the same reason, suddenly Addy armour and fish can be something worth looking at.
oh boy jagex nerfed players wanting to afk, ignored high kc vorkath bots and released a new botters wet dream: A weapon cheaper to use and easier to unlock than trident
