I can confidently say that Taurus is on the roll right now, especially with their pistols. But with the release of the Taurus Judge Home Defender, I really thought to myself that maybe the folks from Taurus are trolling us.
Well, the reason for this assumption is clear when you see this gun anyway. While they claim it as a handgun, its appearance is downright more of a shotgun. Taurus claimed that it was a handgun, and its design was what people wanted. Of course, I am going to take their words.

IAW Taurus USA this weapon only holds FIVE rounds. If you had ever handled the Home Defender you would know that. 0:03

Taurus makes a Raging Judge 7 shot 410. Also, if you are going 410, make it a smooth bore. This configuration would make a winner. Or if the barrel is rifled, put the chock on it like the 18" Circuit Judge.

The jooj defender... I have a short barrel judge, it works and packs a punch... I like it, I do have other calibers to chose from... I especially like the cylinder gap sheild on this model.

Makes it spread a bit faster, so decreases the effective range. Still plenty deadly out about 50 feet or so with buckshot.

The problem is that it uses .410 shells. OK, not terrible, but for shooting at a 150-200 pound 'thing', you'll want to use slugs. The size and weight and performance of a .410 slug is more-or-less the same as a regular 45 ACP. Well if you're going to chamber your revolver in five rounds of something that's more-or-less 45 ACP, why not just get a 6-round revolver in 45? Or even better, a 1911 with its 8+1 capacity? Or even better than that, a typical modern-day automatic handgun, with its 13-round capacity? This is a _SNAKE_ gun.... you load it with small shot, and imprecisely shoot at close-range pests or snakes. That, and recreational shooting, is all this is good for.

A 2.5" .410 slug outputs 380J out of a 3" barrel. That is considerably less than a .45 ACP. But, as it is a shotgun cartridge, the same round outputs 780J out of a 24" barrel. I'd wager it would be within .357 magnum handgun (4" barrel) common load energy out of a 13" barrel (around 650ish J), which is far more than a standard .45ACP. Now, to the relevant question: why not release a .357 Mag home defender instead? The revolver frame is the same size between .410 Judge and .357 Tracker, it would be a far better option as it packs a hell of a punch out of a 13" barrel, probably in the 1000J range. Two extra rounds as well, as the .357 Tracker packs 7. It would beat the .410 in every aspect as a home defense and target shooting gun while keeping its niche status.

I have an ATI AR 15 .410. I've shot Hornaday home defense slugs. They are some nasty rounds. I also have a judge poly frame I've shot with those shells, also equally as nasty 5-15 yards. Those along with 000 buckshot, I feel safe using either gun for defense. I NEED this...

you can also shoot someone in the face and not have them die. in a home invasion situation you want them incapacitated not dead, that way you can watch them squirm in court and suffer in prison.

I am wondering if this pistol can handle in 45 long colt hunting loads like the very power buffalo ammo in 360 grains . That have warring can not be used in some guns. I have 454 Casull. Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan very power full. This cylinder holds only five rounds, But look very thin. And shooting shoot through a rifle barrel How accurate would for hunting. still i might buy one.
