Huge upgrade for whom - certainly not from a passenger point of view ! Ironing board seat, no coat / jacket hooks, very little leg/knee room and when someone sits next to you they are on your lap. This is a train designed by someone who has never used nor uses the train.
I don’t know wether you are aware but the Thameslink services to Maidstone East are not happening due to both the pandemic & lack of capacity within the Thameslink core area. Also the 707 fleet we’re going to run on the Tunbridge Wells services until it was discovered that they have no toilets.

With the Desiros, one class which is rather notable is the class 360's of East Midlands Railway. These were cascaded from Greater Anglia when they got there class 720's from Bombardier
Indeed. I wanted to mention loads of different classes in that little section - was trying to keep the length down but I think a video on the wider range is definitely on the cards!

Siemens could of also manufactured the Class 7xx Desiro City EMUs for Southern to replace the Class 455 and Class 313. And with Southeastern who are getting the Class 707s from South Western Railway as their Class 701 Arterio Aventra EMUs are due to enter service some time next year. And some of the Class 707s have been refurbished with the new "City Beam" name and Southeastern livery.

That's a super idea ZLD. I only have a limited amount of footage of them presently but am definitely looking to get some more in the can - need to spend more time on the LNER and GWR networks for starters. This gives me a good excuse!

Fine video. These trains are so dreadfully uncomfortable. The Fainsa Comrail seats are totally unfit for purpose. When Transport for Wales discovered that the new fleet of class 197 DMU's had been ordered by the former franchise holder with these dreadful Fainsa Comrail seats, they have spent £1.9m to allow the specification to be changed to Fainsa Sophia seats. TfW are putting the customer first.
Thanks for watching Ted. Seems amazing that having already spent about £6billion on the Thameslink Programme that they couldn’t find any extra pennies to get the seating right. Also the lack of wifi on board such a new train seems really strange to me. Wonder if eventually there will be a big refit of some kind.
