The Velotric Nomad 1 Plus now offers a smoother power delivery and can now be unlocked to go quite a bit faster than the original Velotric Nomad 1 that made waves in the ebike space last year.
This Velotric Nomad 1 Plus Review will show this ebike has an IPX7 water resistant battery which means it is fully submergible in a shallow depth of water, just make sure you completely dry the terminals before putting the battery back on the bike to avoid any potential issues or corrosion. Additionally it is a UL certified battery.
The bike itself is IP6 water resistant so don't ride it into a lake, but if you do, let me know if it still works, I'm kinda curious.
The weight capacity is listed at 440 lbs, and 55 miles ins the claimed range.

I would love it with more narrow street tires. I understand it's more comfortable with the four inch but I would want to maximize the range. Pedaling an ebike uphill without assist sucks. But I really like this bike.

exact reason why I got a bike with 2 inch instead of 4. sacrifice slight comfort for about 25% better range

This is their fat tire ebike though. Just look Velotric's other bikes like the Discover 1 Plus, the T1, the Summit 1, and Packer 1. All of them have ~2 inch tires. The Nomad series are their only full fat tire ebikes.

I bought my Nomad 1 mainly because of your review. I liked its performance on the 20% grade and have been really happy with it. I thought the Nomad 1 plus was going to be a step up, but now I’m glad I didn’t wait for it. As far as I’m concerned, the only thing better about it is the new headlight. I’d rather have the faster acceleration and hill climbing of the original and could care less about a little more top speed at the expense of range. Thank you for all your reviews. I’m pretty sure I have seen almost all of them.

Just got the nomad 1 plus. Love the top speed, pulls hard until 34mph. Personally would rather have that than the low end torque. I spend most of the time cruising and find the midrange and top range punch sufficient. Hills are also not an issue

Finally a review of this bike that answers my biggest question: Is the acceleration/climbing the same as the original Nomad 1? Clearly it's not. I love the added features/speed to this "plus" version, just wish it had the old boost as an option. Still not sure what the best option is when looking for a 28 mph "throttle" bike, but this looks like it's near the top. Another review with the High-Step has different handlebars (straighter vs the cruiser ones here). So if that's standard, then there's more of a difference than just height/aesthetics between models.
@vigilant_1934
@vigilant_1934 7 дней назад
Ride1Up has been doing that since like 2018 or so (remember Velotric has only been around for a couple years). Their step through bikes have semi cruiser handlebars while their high step ones are more aggressive straight ones. I personally grabbed the 700 Series step-through a couple months ago and it's not bad. Throttle unlocks to 28 mph and I can adjust the pedal assist percentage and go over 30 mph if I want to. It has an ever so slightly larger battery weighing 9 pounds with 15 Ah (also UL certified) and since it doesn't have fat tires like the Nomad that should give it a little more range. I had considered the original Nomad but I still need to commute and take the bus sometimes and unfortunately the bike racks on the buses in my area aren't compatible with fat tire bikes so I was limited to something with 3" or smaller tires. The 700 series is a few pounds lighter which is also important for the bus. It looks like when I was checking out the Nomad in July it was on closeout sale because looking at the site now only the Plus version is available. Idk about the Plus but the 700 Series gives you an option to adjust how aggressively pedal assist kicks in which can help on hills or it can pull you forward a little unexpectedly from a stop lol. I might have to turn that down a bit particularly when I'm in higher assist levels but it's manageable. If you haven't checked out that bike or Ride1UP in general maybe there's a good option for you. Have a good day.

Hey Matt. I recently bought a cycrown cycverve. After putting it together the throttle and PAS did not work. After a week or a bit longer they told me to disconnect the brakes to see if it would work. It did work after disconnecting them. Now they are telling me that i should just ride it around with the brakes disconnected. To me this is not a solution and is them breaking the warranty. Also seems like a very unprofessional and unsafe idea. What should i do? Any advice would be helpful.

Great bike, checks a lot of boxes. I like the battery placement and the colour scheme. With the Aventon you need to get a slide panel for the battery to match the colour of your bike. Not knowing the name of the brakes manufacturer could be a problem with maintenance, like brake pads and discs. These companies should provide a parts list and repair manual, but many don't, which cam be painful. I'd like to see a a torque sensor. A quick release rack for a trunk bag / paniers. like the one from Ibera The front rack on my Aventon is a scoop design which is better than a basket when using a cargo net, but again a quick release option would be nice. I like the Aventon integrated tail lights / turn signals better as they are not attached to the fender. The basic bike is nice, but I'd like options to kit it up a bit for excursions.

i think its perfect for what it is. I prefer a ebike that focuses on pedal assist then brute torque so i focus on the cycling experience than the ride like a moped. I still think the E-cells 5 star is the best ebike for a fat tire bike but is quite pricey so yes for the best bang for your buck this bike is really good

Technically it's supposed to cut off power on throttle at 20mph and not go beyond 28mph with pedaling when riding on public roads but these are minor technicalities and much more difficult to prove vs an ebike stamped as 2000 watts ( > 750 watts).

Velotric's founder is Chinese to be fair but he was connected to ebikes and scooters before he started the company (one of the creators of the Lime app) and seems to be legit. @@rudylocs420 it would zap all the fun out of ebikes for me, also you won't be able to get up a hill if you have to stop in the middle of it for whatever reason. My latest diy bike with a gearless hub motor will immediately throw 45 amps of current at me from a stop, gets up to 20mph in less than 5 seconds. If these manufacturers want to include it then atleast add an option to disable it for those of us who can handle the full power from a stop. These type of things are what keeps me doing my own builds.

@@ramborambokitchenkitchen6357 It's for safety reasons plus, like another comment mentioned, you can adjust the assist sensitivity (my 700 series let's me do that). People have been thrown off of bikes because the power ramped up too quickly. Stopping in the middle of hill and expecting a normal ebike to handle going up from a stop afterwards just isn't very smart. That's not even something you'd expect to do on a regular bike. Just walk it up the rest of the way or don't stop on the hill. You're asking the motor to do too much and possibly overheat especially on steep hills. You realize e-bike motors in America are limited to 750 watts continuous right (in Europe it's only 250 watts)? You need 1500 watts or more to do what you're talking about. Be serious.

I mean that's the Class 3 legal limit. In some states even that's too fast and require you to get it registered. Most ebikes with throttles don't go past 20 mph (again the legal throttle limit unless you're on private property) so when you find ones that can unlock to 28 mph that's a bonus. These American companies also don't want to get sued which happened to Rad Bikes already so you can't unlock them anymore unless you modify them. If you're responsible and safe on your ebike at fast speeds that's great (I am too and wear a dirt bike helmet and high viz gear) but there are plenty of people on e-bikes going 20+ mph on the sidewalk and on trails with pedestrians which just isn't respectful or safe to do (a lady got killed in Florida I think cuz of some dumb kid on an ebike going too fast).
