I love this. Not only the track itself but the fact that bands are diversifying the sound and direction within a genre. This is how metal just keeps evolving. I get the feeling that bands recognize that Lorna Shore are dominating the scene and instead of simply competing with the monster, risking just being labelled a LS clone, they head towards dominating a different sound. One of the many reasons I love metal - there's no limit to it's evolution
Not going to lie but I fucking loved it. I like the old mental cruelty as well but the deathcore genre 100% needs this. For like the last 5 years we have had the same shit regurgitated over and over and this is super refreshing, can’t wait to here more.
Gonna be divisive for sure but this is the most interesting they've ever been imo, I'm fucking stoked to hear more of this. Breakdown was totally shoehorned in though, felt like they said "we need an obligatory pure deathcore moment."
I'm not into that folky elements/melody, but this song is sick. Hope they do not go 100% folky from now on, but if they do so, they"ll still being an aweasome band.
I'm not really into this new sound they're going for, but the new vocalist is definitely skilled. Purgatorium is my favourite from them. Their slamming stuff is so good.
I really dig it. Loved A Hill To Die Upon, but man I wish the breakdown would've been left out. Feels very Wintersun/Ensiferum/Equilibrium. Excited for the new album.
Absolutely love this song, kinda feel like that breakdown disrupted the flow of the song though. Was a good breakdown but not needed imo, the rest of the song is just too good to toss that in there

As someone who loves mental cruelty, and grew up on Rhapsody, Elvenking, Suidakra etc... I didn't need these streams to cross. I feel like watching sean nod hard with a struggled expression sums it up. I am going to struggle to enjoy this at all.
its definitely different, considering the folk/viking elements, but otherwise it sounds like an amalgamation of Wintersun and Kalmah, with a Lorna Shore breakdown. don't get me wrong, all those influences on their own are great, but together they don't really mesh that well imo, especially the breakdown. the breakdown felt very out of place. i really wanted to like this song, but its just alright to me.
I'm not a Folk guy at all, but NOT AT ALL. To me its cringe, just like Power. So that goes Im not a fan of the intro. But I do dig the rest of the song (or the second song? Is it a two song video?), I actually enjoy the genres mixte there.
